Outlook fail - Excalibur - 13-11-2024

Fails to send. Receives OK. Huh

Message reads: Couldn't send this message.
There was a problem sending this message. Try sending it again or close this draft and send it later.

Tried:
Resending.
Reducing pictutre sizes
Changing recipient to me (my other email account)

In addition the program is slow

Last update 2 weeks ago. Has been a few bugs since migrating to it. Windows Mail is still installed but it defaults to Outlook. Right now I wish I had that program back.
But wait, can I simply uninstall Outlook and get Mail back? Is that safe at this stage. ??

Windows 10, 10.19045 build 19045

Thinking of attempting repair option to Outlook? or uninstalling...

RE: Outlook fail - king1 - 13-11-2024

is this the Outlook desktop program or the Outlook (New) app?
Does it send without the attachments?

RE: Outlook fail - Excalibur - 13-11-2024

It is the new Outlook. Poking around it, I discovered I could still revert back to old Mail program. So I jumped at the chance though it said eventually is was to be replaced.
Straight away I could send an email with embedded pics.

Interestingly, the draft I'd been trying to email from Outlook wouldn't display. The system obviously sees it but the body of message is blank.

good to hear, I would guess they still offer that fallback option because there is a few bugs in it still - this will be the enduser testing phase

RE: Outlook fail - Excalibur - 30-11-2024

Microsoft tightened the noose by removing the "in-program option" to roll back. Thought I was stuck but then discovered I could uninstall Outlook. It lasts until re-launch.
I've learnt that if I want to assemble an email with pics and send, I may as well uninstall Outlook.

There's some talk about deleteing olk.exe. Seems like I can get ownership of Windowapps but not permissions.

unfortunately the price of using free goods and services is that the supplier can do whatever the hell they want with it and you will probably end up fighting a losing battle...

Have you thought about trying out thunderbird as an email client. Free to use and one of the more commonly used email clients - same people that provide Firefox...

Well, the early performance is not unlike that of their Windows. They seem to be buggy when first arrived before finally getting some polish over what seems like quite some time.

Anyway, at least 2 updates came down and now it's working. I say working but I tested by adding 6 pics and 5 arrived at the destination. Guessing I went over a hard limit for MB's.
It's a good start, because it was next to useless without ability to add pics. Mail Coffee
