I thought that these so called climate scientists were supposed to be the experts on all of this.

Read the article, it's possible that we are in runaway thermal instability, or the beginning stages, and the signs we are seeing are an indicator of this state.
In other words we have reached a tipping point of thermal instability and there is no going back.
