Washington Plane crash - harm_less - 30-01-2025

Reports of a passenger plane vs helicopter crash near Ronald Reagan Airport, Washington. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/540407/commercial-flight-crashes-into-river-near-airport-in-us-report

RNZ are now reporting the plane is a 70 seater American Airlines one and the chopper a Blackhawk. There's going to be some questions over this.

I flew Pittsburgh to LA in one of those planes. I was not impressed. But as I was going home, and I had a window seat on a glorious clear day to view the whole flight path over America I didn't mind the lack of service.

Air NZ left them for dead. Which might be an inappropriate comment considering.

They're saying that staffing at the time was 'not normal' according to a preliminary report. And their glorious leader blamed Biden...of course he did.

So the recent gutting of staff from the FAA by Trump and Musk had nothing to do with it? Yeah right.

Apparently the Black Hawk chopper was participating in a “continuity of government” drill. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-01-31/dc-plane-crash-downed-black-hawk-was-practicing-secretive-evacuation-plans

Nothing to see here folks just go on your way Rolleyes

I heard a report that suggested one of the chopper pilots was in training...

Either way, it is an awful tragedy. Long term trauma for the families, exacerbated by the idiot in chief letting his commonsense pour out all over the media.

According to the article the helicopter was training for an evacuation strategy of important government officials in case of a serious emergency situation (e.g. nuclear strike). Unfortunately it seems there were no such officials on board the chopper at the time of the collision.

I wonder if those who voted for his nibs can see why they really, really shouldn't have yet...
