An American Pope - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-05-2025

Just me, or is that also a response to Trumpism?

Could be some interesting interactions on the way.

Seems a bit co-incidental to me, he appears to have been critical of Trump, and with his most recent remarks about being pope, this all falls into place.

Surely they can't really be that ignorant; they must know very well that the Pope's not in any even very, very slightly 'Marxist.'

What they mean but won't say, is that he doesn't agree with their rigid, damaging far right BS....surely, they cannot be that stupid & ill informed. Dodgy Rolleyes

US politics may have been influential in the choice of Pope but not in the way you're implying IMO. The Catholic church has far greater sway than the White House and I suspect the world is going to now witness a power play in that respect.

I agree. And that is the Trump effect slowly going international. Not pro, but opposing. Resisting.
