Poor people. Just one survivor - he might want to get a lottery ticket.

It's not a Boeing 737 Max which was the problem type, it's a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner which is their flagship aircraft, no crashes besides this one but it is the one that had smoking Lithium batteries in the passenger compartment on its first flight.

June 12th, 2025 Air India Flight 171 full accident sequence from CCTV

Looks to me as if they pulled back the flaps and lost lift rather than the landing/take off wheels to lower drag.

As mentioned on tonight's TV news that passenger will be suffering extreme survival guilt. 'Why only me?!'

Luck. Sometimes that is the only thing between us and total disaster.

His brother also on that flight, was killed so he's likely to have life long problems.

My guess is pilot error, they retracted the flaps instead of the wheels.

Its starting to look that way.

Another flight where the same thing happened a few years ago, all dead but the passenger in 11A, the same lucky seat, slightly forward of the wing and right buy an Exit door.

There's likely to be a queue of people wanting that seat now...

RE: Air India crash - zqwerty - 15-06-2025

Yes but the pilots would have to aim the fuselage through a narrow gap which would leave the wings etc behind with all the explosive fuel still in them and the front of the plane continue on minus all of the rest of the plane in the gap to avoid the explosion, opening up a way for 11A passenger to jump out the gap where the pieces parted.

Something like that anyway.
