Win11 24H2 Update - Galaxy01 - 04-08-2025

I updated my other PC to Win11 24H2, it failed my 1st attempt because I downloaded the different language version (English International) as such it cannot keep all my apps and data, only my data.  Cancelled the update, re-downloaded the English US  and it then went through smoothly.

I will try to update my other PC which I am a bit nervous because this PC couldn't restart automatically, I have to push the button to shut it down and then push the button again to turn it back ON.   Not too sure this will affect the updating process?  I have try very hard to correct that issue but no....

This PC was installed using English US but I later added English New Zealand to it.  Do you think that I should download the English NZ to install the update?  Or the English US should be OK?

Anyone here to enlighten me on the above?

Cheers.

there isn't a english NZ version of windows afaik, I just use the English US for the installation media and choose the NZ region for locale and timezone etc

RE: Win11 24H2 Update - Galaxy01 - 05-08-2025

My other PC updating failed at the final stage:
" A driver cannot load on this device.
Driver: AsIO.sys
A security setting is detecting this as a vulnerable driver and blocking it from loading.
You will need to adjust your settings to load this driver."

I was using the same USB RUFUS install disk created last night and it works OK on that PC, but not this one.

Any help, please?

AsIO.sys is a virtual driver usually associated to Asus PC Probe or ASUS AI Suite.

Assuming you are doing an Upgrade Not a fresh install ?

One suggestion -- manually remove the AsIo.sys driver from C:\Windows\sysWOW64 (i.e., move it somewhere else but don't delete it in case needed later).

Should upgrade then - or do a fresh install.

Removed the file  ... still ....\

PC loads ok with the said pop up , click cancel , it loads ok... OTHER than:

Desktop background is back.  All others work OK.

Or, could it be graphic card issue?

RE: Win11 24H2 Update - king1 - 05-08-2025

from a reddit thread... Basically delete the service

Same issue on my side, I have an ASUS motherboard, but I got rid of the ASUS software a long time ago, it's just bloatware, but as evidence suggests, it doesn't even uninstall properly.

The solution is:

Open command prompt as administrator

sc delete asio

del c:\windows\SysWow64\drivers\AsIO.sys
(may not work if you moved it...)

RE: Win11 24H2 Update - Galaxy01 - 05-08-2025

I managed to get rid the the alert pop up by chance(?):

Installed an older version of graphic card driver Asus Nvidia GT 1030, restarted and the pop up is gone!
But the desktop background was still black and I had to manually added my old pix as my desktop.
Restarted several times already and it seems to be OK...
