Morning Everyone

Welcome Praktica... Im sure thats an addictive hobby to get into re the cameras.

Yesterday was a pleasant day temp wise. The last few have been good. It can stay that way if it likes lol.

I had to make an appointment to see MrP on Saturday.. 45 minutes is all they are allowing.. Im not happy. Its not a prison, its his home that we pay massivley for. Needless to say I havent told him, Ill be sitting there until they throw me out...... Mind you he was back in his Marter move and telling me hes coming home, then that its all my fault and he wants a divorce... he will be fine again this morning.

I did the baking run last night in the cool.. Ohh the old chap next door is frightfully thin now and his eyes are very sunken.. Hes about 90 I think from memory. Most appreciative tho. And the family next over are great. They are South African which I have a affinity with. Instant trust and we have talked so much on the few times we have met. The Tree cookies are being saved for Santa. They do the "snow" footprints etc.. Their little girl is a very tall 4 years old, I didnt see the twin boys other than them looking through the blinds when I knocked on the door. They were gaming. They are 11 going on 17 apparently lol.
It certainly cheered me up after the crap afternoon I'd had about the time limit and MrPs call.

A busy day today, I am dropping off a light up decoration that MrP asked for, having my B12 shot. Home to wait for the sky man and a phone consult with my DR. My cousin says she takes copious amounts of magnesium for her cramps and drinks Tonic water as it has quinine in it.. Ill be telling the DR Im going to give it a try and will have to check my INR to see if it changes and dose to suit. My muscles are still sore even tho Im stretching them to try and ease it.

Yeah Hunnihunni they dont prescribe it here now or in Australia either apparently . My cousin said they told her it wasnt good for your heart... Hate it when something works well for one thing and not others.

Ill have to decide what to have for Christmas dinner now I guess lol...

I might do something that people think is Nuts tomorrow... I used to love going and sitting in a mall and people watch . Watching the stressed, the happy, the kids all kinds in the last days before christmas. Crazy I know but its an interesting vision lol..

Have a fab day everyone

Funny though how they decide these things and foist it on the rest of us. My mum used it for years and it certainly didn't do her any harm, unless it had dementia as a side effect.

Mind you maybe that explains my increasingly frequent moments, lol.

But I guess like anything else it can be overdone.

Popeye - I had problems with cramp in my legs, on waking in the morning. My doctor suggested I take magnesium, so I bought the cheapest 250mg tablets on TM, and I take 1 a day. That fixed the cramps!

Yeah I already take a magnesium tablet but its not enough... Im talking to my Dr this afternoon and will run it past her. Im going to increase my dose, but need to know if it will react with my warfarin at all..

Good afternoon everybody from a very warm gusty Hawkes Bay - thank goodness for aircon - this house has Venetian blinds so opening the windows is a cacophony of noise - have rung the blind people to get those things that fixes them to the window sills but they tell me they are waiting for supplies
Popeye all the supermarkets in Bathurst are in the malls - when we first arrived over there we saw lots of mostly elderly people sitting with their books and thermos - we thought there must be carol singing or something- but we soon found out that people would sit there all day soaking up the air conditioning and watching the world go by .The first time we went to Sydney we spent a lot of our time just watching the people - so I would join you - we don’t have a mall -
Practika - that sounds a really interesting hobby
I too am glad I don’t have to do the Xmas catering for all our lot - did it for so many years but it was easy because my other half was like another pair of hands - he excelled when I needed help.We are all going to my sons house - there will be 32 of us - he has a pool so the kids will organise themselves and being in the food business the meal is taken care of so I don’t even need to take a plate
My granddaughter in Oz was hoping to bring my first great grandchild home for a visit in the new year to meet his kiwi family - he is 18 months old now so staying 10 days in MIQ is just not worth it - plus we all think our borders should be shut - I have another grandchild with cystic fibrosis so we are all super cautious
My veggie pod has gone mad - had to buy a shade cover 32 deg is just too hot
Kiwimade hope your son has a busy holiday season - exciting for him .My oldest son is only having Xmas day and Boxing Day off he is increasing his mill capacity - more timber for the kiwi market which is good
Hunihuni my husband got his quinine taken off him at Customs - when we came home it wasn’t banned in Oz so he bought a huge jar home - but it was too many - so they took the lot - he damn near cried

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 22-12-2021

Good afternoon.  25 deg here but thankfully there's a good breeze today which is flowing through the house nicely.
More baking done this morning.  DH came home with a box of lovely fresh veg and fruit after his work 'do' yesterday plus a gift voucher which were well received at this time of year.
A newly added shade sail is making a big difference to our vege garden as well.
Lucky for the makeshift 'fence' around the Xmas tree to keep son's puppy away proved useful yesterday while minding the grandies. 3 sets of little fingers itching to touch,  or even better open.

I really want a vegie pod. I was trying to persuade a neighbour to buy a couple with his lotto winnings ( he has a lucky streak), but he saw through my evil plot to inherit those upon his demise - him being somewhat more ancient than moi...
I hate it when my machinations are so easily seen through!

morning ladies and welcome Paktrica Smile  Always lovely to have new voices in the thread.

Another hot day today by the looks of it.  I was hoping to get into the garden for a bit today but it's going to be my sewing machine out instead.  Just as I thought I had finished all the gift buying and sewing, I haven't.  One more bag to do so it shouldn't take long.  Lucky I have all the sewing supplies needed.

Mica, your wee body dress is just gorgeous!  I love the unicorns and I love how when we create, we create something others don't usually have, either in style or fabric.

Oh_hunnihunni, I'm sorry your cunning plan didn't eventuate.  It sounded like a great plan lol  Tongue  Next time!

Popeye, 45 minutes with MrP on Christmas Day is pretty rough.  I know they are being extra cautious but the Delta numbers are way down now and 90% of us our double vaxxed.

Lucky you, Jan, having Christmas organised Smile  We all bring a plate or two for a pot luck lunch although we know roughly what each of us are bringing so no double ups.  We bring extra plates, cutlery, coffee pots and so on if they are needed.    I think we all know what's in each others cupboards lol.  And we help with the clearing up and dishes so no one is left with a mess.  It seems to be the norm for us now whenever there is a family get together.

Our vegie garden is going great guns too and we are picking a small bowl of raspberries most days.  We've already started eating our tomatoes and the beans are in flower.  Wouldn't be summer without our runner beans.

Time to get cracking, the washing machine is on the final spin.  I'll make a start on this bag and hopefully have it done by lunchtime or earlier.  The fabric is all cut out good to go.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-12-2021

Another one who gets into the laundry early, while the rest of us are still trying to get the first teabag into the mug of a morning!

I was out and about yesterday a lot and am wearing the consequences today, so it will be a slow one for sure. I have though started a new knitting project having scored some aran weight Rowan yarn at a silly price on TM. So I found a nice easy pattern online and started on the back panel a couple of days ago. Yesterday I got passed the rib and got a fair chunk of the pattern done before thinking this doesn't look like the picture... And sure enough, I had missed the two lines that slid the stitch change over and created dots instead of stripes.

But I quite like the stripes so I've decided not to restart it, after all upward stripes are slimming, right? Especially in a 10 ply, which is a yarn I haven't used before. Lovely fabric on the needles though, I'm quite impressed with myself...

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-12-2021

Morning everyone

Its very still out there, will be a hot one for sure.

I ended up having to nip out of town to get a new phone yesterday. The power and opening button has been dying a slow death and finally died early yesterday. Thank goodness I had sold a couple of rings and there was one on special.

I dont do this chat etc on my phone tho. I prefer the lappy.

Love the little suit Mica. so pretty.

My friends in Tauranga Cooked their first lot of veges in their pod. but its working better now. I think they both thought the other was tending to it. Bugger Hunnihunni re the neighbour not getting one.. I think they would be great.

Im going to make the most of the 45 minutes we can have. With his liver being bad we dont know if this will be MrPs last Christmas or not. So Im going to do my best. Apparently they gave him a present yesterday, slippers Biscuits , lollies etc.

My dr has given me some muscle relaxants. To be used wisely. She said use at night but if I need to through the day to make sure that I wont need to be driving anywhere. so fingers crossed these will help. And we are going to trial this new diabetes drug too. The stress of this year has my sugars high and even tho Im eating the same that I always eat etc theyre just not coming down. So Fingers crossed

Got home to find the sky man was moving the sky dish, Yay it was in a stupid place anyway, so now it should only be there weather that disturbs it.. And Now Ill be able to set up the free view box and ditch sky for ever. Paying $18 a month for the free channels is plain dumb. but I needed the dish sorted first.

Off to do bloods this morning then I hope to Paint later.

Watching Mary Berry.. I do love her cooking. Better rattle me daggs tho lol.

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-12-2021

I wish a sky man would remove my dish. It interferes with my peach tree...

Yeah I'd opt for the tree too lol..

We had one at the other house we were in and the dam thing got blown down 3 times before it gave up the ghost

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 24-12-2021

morning ladies Smile  And yes, oh_hunnihunni lol, the washing machine is on AND the hose is on the garden.  I like to get things done early Tongue

It's a foggy start to the day but we are expecting it to turn out hot.  So perfect for getting the garden watered.  We're on a bore so no water restrictions.  And the mulch makes a huge difference too, I only need to water once a week now.

Yesterday I sewed a pencil case for my great niece, the fabric pattern was lines and lines of bright crayons so it was the perfect choice.  Once I've uploaded the pic I'll post it here.  I'm thinking of adapting it to make it longer and deeper for my knitting needles.

I must admit I flaked out in the afternoon.  Started reading my book stretched out on the bed and before I knew it, it was late in the afternoon.  I found MrK snoozing beside me lol.  oooooppppsss! lol

Our son is coming home this evening.  We're always happy to have our kids home.  Tomorrow will be the first time since last Christmas we have all been together.

After the housework is done (won't take long), today I'm going to work on my tui.  All the Christmas stuff is done and dusted.

In case I don't get in here tomorrow, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Merry Christmas  Heart Angel Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-12-2021

I use a pencil case for my knitting tools too. It helps I use interchangeables, so they fit beautifully. Another score on TM some years back, a full set of bamboos, that I absolutely love using, so light for arthritic fingers!

Christmas Eve looks breezy and a bit cloudy so far, but I have lots of library books, a fridge full of naughty food and drink, and a big bag of sheep pellets for the bare bit of garden, so this old lady has plenty to make her happy over the silly season!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 24-12-2021

Morning everyone

Its going to be a stinker temp wise I think. But the fridge is full of drinks and hot water bottles.

The man that trimmed the trees for me the other day is coming to mow the lawn today .. lovely gesture. I asked what he would like in payment and he asked for more Shortbread lol. So I got the ingredients out yesterday to make them today and ended up making them lol.. So after my breakfast I will ice them. Then they are sorted.

Have to go and get my pills later and to use Micas phrase Im going on a food Hunt.. I need some ginger ale.. Without having to buy a 6 pack. I only use it once a year. And NW doesn't have the 1.5 litre bottles.. I use it in my trifles instead of sherry.

Madam Missy is on guard. There's a black long haired cat out the front door. he has one white spot like a ministers collar so I've called him Padre and a light ginger one out the ranch slider who I've called garfield. She goes from door to door making sure they dont come any closer lol

Have an awesome Day Kiwimade, and Merry Christmas

Ill be here as usual lol

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 24-12-2021

Morning all
Warm and muggy already

Did my shop yesterday, cut out DD quilt fabric so that she can piece while DGD naps, did some baby wrangling in the afternoon while DD and DSIL did so advanced training with their big k9

Today is house work and glaze the ham. I have neverdone this before, DS won the ham a few months ago in squash tournament its taken 2 days to defrost in the fridge and it is big 4.5kg enough for 25 people I reckon so I think we will be sharing it out after Xmas dinner cause nobody wants that much leftovers.
Catching up with our neighbours later its a tradition started many years ago when they had our kids pressies in their garage it stopped the snooping for sure,
Have a good Xmas everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-12-2021

My daughter never needed to snoop. She would fix me with a stare and then tell me what her presents were, and only a couple of times was she wrong. Spooky kid, I guess she just knew me too well, or I knew what she most wanted ( she was good at managing me!).

So eventually we gave up gifting altogether and just opted for random surprises when the opportunity arose. It certainly reduced Christmas angst!

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 24-12-2021

Good afternoon all. 29 deg here and I am full of envy, as I listen to the neighbours splashing in their pool .... aah well there is always the sprinkler .....

It's too hot to do anything, other than sit where there is a draught so doing as little as possible this afternoon. Some last minute baking done this morning and washing on the line .... that's it for today.

It is lovely to see and hear of others' fabulous handwork and also hear of garden activities in here.

Have an enjoyable Christmas everyone and keep cool wherever you are  Smile
