Might be a bit longer for the finger to heal, blasted digit is still leaking, even with the new and improved dressing. Still, good excuse to be lazy and just enjoy what looks like being a very beautiful day...

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 02-11-2022

Good morning.

Gorgeous day already, hope to make the most of it.

You have caught the Kotare colours beautifully KM. He will look great framed on the wall    Heart

Grocery shopping this morning, baking which I haven't got to yet and will then get outside later. After watching 7 Sharp last night and seeing the link between dementia and 'loading' exercise I need to get out there digging, not just weeding  Big Grin You're on the right track going to the gym Mica, something I often 'think about'!

Enjoy your rest day today Popeye, you've earned it, I hope that finger not too sore today OHH!

Enjoy the day all.

He is Wonderful Kiwimade... You are one very talented lady.

Done my blood, got my pills. No one was wearing masks in the chemist. Not even the staff. I asked had the rules change and the one serving me said yes... I dont know how I could have missed that... But for now Im still wearing mine. Still too much risk for me. And I hate being sick.

I love the bird but the bit that really intrigues me is the wood with the lichen. Just as well I can't touch, the texture made my fingers itch to explore. Very clever stitching...

That Kotare is gorgeous KM, love the colours
Hope the finger's on the mend Hunni - I've noticed that when you do something to a finger, you can quite often manage to whack it again somehow - or maybe that's just me.

Very pleased with my progress so far, have been over to Body shop & got enough fancy shower gel for granddaughter & two DIL's plus one DIL's best mate who's really family, & got 20% off because its November, so more progress with Xmas gifts. Also called into supermarket & got some fish to egg & breadcrumb later, took Madame Le Dog for walk & did a bit more ivy murder. And also finished card & even posted it off to Wales this morning so feeling extra virtuous.

Its DIL's birthday today so waiting for her to arrive her as she decided to skive off work for the day, fair enough too.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 02-11-2022

I went for my usual Wednesday coffee and received a seventieth birthday present from my friend Su. A couple of weeks ago over coffee I mentioned how I had only had a girl child so I could play with Barbie dolls, having been of the era before we saw them here. My Rose ended up with a fine collection, and an equally fine collection of handmade clothes of the exotic kind, because I liked dressing up her dolls  lol.

So, today I got my first all my very own blonde bombshell Barbie.

Some friends are really cool to have.  Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 02-11-2022

lol fantastic, OHH Smile yep, a very cool friend to have indeed. And happy birthday Heart

Thank you for the kind comments about the kotare/kingfisher. OHH, the post is long and short stitch but with slightly longer stitches than usual and the lichen are very loose french knots.

MrK has been for his first hospital visit for his cataracts. Usually, they only do one eye but because this eye is so bad and has happened so quickly, they are bumping him along the list. They are thinking it will be done in around six weeks' time. Fingers crossed it will all be done and dusted by Christmas.

Until recently I went by Su.. No e's, so it was nice to see you mention a Su without one.

We maybe be a little apart in age but I also never had a barbie doll. I clearly need a friend to solve that problem. or should rescue one from an oppy. But I like the idea of having a new one lol.

A friend got me a Spyrograph for my 40th. I had told her how much I loved having one when I was a kid.. Till the Boys got into it and broke the delicate parts of course.

I too have a November run of Birthdays. My parents obviously celebrate summer. My Sister was the 6th, my middle Brother the 7th and Mum was the 8th.

So she was in hospital for two birthdays, easter with my other brother and Mother's day with us the twins lol. Two of Mums brothers were also November birthdays, two of MrPs nephews and nieces are also and My sisters youngest was born on Nov 25th, the same day as my Taranaki friends brother died, I have always said we were destined to meet cos of that.

Good re the cataract surgery Kiwimade. Does MrK still have his sunnie's cos he will need them.

I rang MrP today.. He was over his mood.. And he actually defended me to Bobbie, and that is a first.  She is really going downhill.. And his journey is making it hard for him to understand.

She wont leave her room now apart from seeing MrP. Which is sad. I will spend some time with her tomorrow.

Possibly the day after I fall off the perch  with my stunning luck. Big Grin

But I have grandparents, greats, and great greats who were also Scorpios.

There really was no hope for me, lol...

I did however manage to make a Leo. So the cycle is broken!

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 03-11-2022

morning ladies and what a stunning morning it is.

Only one November baby in our family now but a few sprinkle December and most in May.

I'll finish framing the kotare/kingfisher today and maybe start planning the next one. We have a California Quail visit us occasionally. Magnificent plumage but we do feel sorry for him as he is on his own. And we wonder where on earth he came from as we haven't seen quail for well over 30 years. MrK has asked if the next bird can be the quail, so quail it is. But before I start stitching him, I'm going to have a tutu with cutwork for a change.

Still no roses, I suspect this first flush is no-goer Sad and we will have to wait for the next one.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning all
Its raining  and DH is sleeping so a wee quiet time for me and the k9s

Started sewing up my dress yesterday afternoon got interrupted when DS and his family called in.

Volunteer morning then off to Wool Yarns annual sale. I haven't been before but I like the sound of merino possum. Been advised to take a big bag or trailer with me. I hope I can be restrained. It will depend on colours available.

Broke a tooth yesterday waiting for dentist to phone back today goodness knows how long I will have to wait for appt.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 03-11-2022

Morning everyone

Overcast with drizzle here.

Im going to see MrP this morning and will see if I can coax Bobbie out of her room. Have to stop on my way to get him some drinks. I need milk and bananas , but won't be popping back in. I'll use one of my LongLife milks and stop at the fruit shop on the corner.
Any other groceries I'll get tomorrow when we are out. I can't wait. I just hope to be able to have fun even if I hurt lol.

I've noticed that the yard work is working on my arms. I've always had what I called my grandmothers Spare's. The big fat arms. But now they are slim on top but really baggy underneath. No amount of work can change that sadly. If anyone remembers Craftylady from TM days she put a mortgage on her house and had her arms shaped privately.. As much as I would love to do that my arms are my Samson's heal. Even a poke from a finger hurts. So I dont even think I could cope with the pain of the surgery. Thank fully I dont see the back of my arms so I try not to let it bother me.

I found out last week that the library here is teaching Maori. So I plan on going along in the new year.. When I was at primary school we did one class before we moved and then none of the next two school taught it. I love singing in Māori and would like to learn some more. Id also love to learn how to weave flax, its always fascinated me. and I think now is the time to start doing the things I have always wanted to do.

Another thing is I want to volunteer at the oppy. It will have to be something out the back that I can do sitting. So I will find out about that in the new year too. Most of the ladies there are well in their 70s-80s.

Wow thats a nasty fire they have down in CHCH.. wonder if it was started by fireworks... I only heard one go off last night.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 03-11-2022

Good morning.

The sun has disappeared, looks like we are in for some rain. Already 18 degrees though.

I've never knitted with merino/possum yarn but have gloves and scarf tucked away somewhere which are very soft and warm to wear ... if somewhere cold!

The Californian Quail are fascinating wee birds as they run along the ground. The males very cute with their head plume ... a good subject choice KM  Smile

I'm waiting for a book on hold at the library, nothing worse than reading something dull for lack of reading material!

My Star Jasmine is on the verge of opening. Each year more of the wooden fence is covered.  The other vine going berserk is the passionfruit ... there will be many dozens this year  Tongue

The sun has come back out, better move and make the most of it.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-11-2022

Possum yarn is wonderful Mica, light to work and deliciously warm to wear. The fibres are hollow like deer hair and that's how they insulate. It is a lovely fur too, I have stapled many skins to drying boards as a young married paying down the mortgage!

Funny thing, but in those storage bins I unearthed my most expensive ever garment purchase, a chocolate brown glove leather Russian style coat with huge possum fur collar, cuffs, and two bands of it at the just below knee hem. I bought it over a month from Spring sale at Sterns in Queen Street when I was working in the city, and had to wait through the summer till I could show it off. Which gave me time to find and pay off a pair of matching knee length high heeled boots. Boy I loved that outfit, I work it to death! I was wearing it when I met my husband to be and cannot let it go for that reason.

But oh, it is such a small waisted coat...

Still, I have decided to take it apart and use the leather to cover a small mid century cantilever chair I have, and use the possum to make a cushion to put on it. If Ms CoCo decides to sit on it she will disappear into the matching softness. The lining will find another life too I suspect, and all'n all I get to keep the coat even though I will never wear it again.

Romance never dies, eh? Big Grin

That big fire had better not have been started by fireworks  Angry I heard some go off in the wee, small hours ugggghh.

That was some find in your storage bin OHH ... a treasure to keep!

You know though, if it was started by those damned things, it would be more persuasion to the powers that be that it is time for some serious control of something old that is just too costly to keep...

Fireworks are the second worst thing about this time of year, the first being official recognition of my increasing agedness!
