But that gives me time to finishing the rearranging... RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 01-12-2022 Lol, you did say Monday OHH. I normally have the grandkids on Mondays ... totally thrown me as to the day of the week Sorry to test your patience! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-12-2022 Monday! You mean we have to wait until then? But... but... but... that's FOUR whole sleeps away! RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-12-2022 (01-12-2022, 10:00 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: Monday! You mean we have to wait until then? But... but... but... that's FOUR whole sleeps away! I knowwwwwwww! It's sooooo unfair! But I bought cat treats today. And a proper cat brush. And pine pellets for her litter box. Talk about spoilt. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-12-2022 Not to skite But I remembered it was Monday lol.. Im so pleased for you tho OHH.. Ive never known anyone who has adopted a mature cat. So dont know anything about how long they take to settle or anything.. so I will learn through you if thats ok.. Soo many want the cute Kitty, but even a 7 year old cat can live many many years longer and deserve to have a good life. I had a nice time in Pukekohe, went into 8 different places looking for a case for my phone, and ended up getting one here in Waiuku. The home rang, MrP wanted me to ring. so I stopped in on my way home. First thing out of his mouth was why havent you rung me? I said cos you told me not to. Soo Im thinking the dementia is starting to settle in more... Or he has his infection again. And hes refusing his meds too. Men, well some men can be such fools at times. I went into 16 places... I am sore BUT, not as sore as I expected to be.. I am wondering if the exercise of doing the lawns etc is actually helping. They have Covid at the home again. They were putting a sign on the door as I left. So I just rang to ask if the music and Kapa Haka group will be on tomorrow. The receptionist wasnt sure so Ill ring tomorrow. I called MrP and told him to tell Bobbie not to go wandering around. Its not in their wing as yet. I feel unbelievably happy at the mo... lol.. Hope it stays this way RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 01-12-2022 Hope the little cat turns out to be all you could want Hunni, & you turn out to be just what her magnificence wants. That's good news, KM; apparently covid is increasing again. Mowed the lawn earlier & did a bit of weeding; or started to but had to re tie the tomatoes first & by the time I'd done that I was haddit so thought to hell with this & came in. They can wait till tomorrow. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-12-2022 I couldn't handle a kitten these days, they are just too energetic and need a flexible person to live with. I aint flexible at all these days. Then there's all the vet bills for those first couple of years, and dealing with feathers and skinks and wanting to establish pecking order things that youngsters have to go through. The older cat has done all those things and is more settled with an established personality. If they are adult and cuddley, they will stay that way, if they are independent and self sufficient then that is what you can expect when you bring them home. The trick is to check health status, and understand a bit of past history, so you can be prepared for any quirks. But overall, in my limited experience, for our stage in life a mature cat with minimal issues is the best choice. Might mean dealing with that grief thing a bit earlier, but thems the breaks. After all, they might have to deal with that themselves, just as this little girl has. And I really can't wait for Monday! Better an older cat who isn't too bossy (!) than a skittish kitten. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 02-12-2022 morning ladies What a lovely day! *does the happy dance* My RATS this morning is definitely negative Yesterday it was negative but with a pale brown background, today, totally clear. Now to get over this tired business. Traffic is mounting up for the Field Days, typical for the Friday events. Today I'll think about blatting round with a duster, whether I do it or not is a different thing. Our nieghbour is shooting rabbits this morning so the Furry One is shaking like crazy. It doesn't take much to set him off. But hopefully that will be the end of the rabbits for a while. Time to get this day started Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 02-12-2022 Good morning. Nice and sunny, with a brisk breeze blowing. No plan for the day but I have spied some weeds that shouldn't be there and had better add more ties to the tomatoes, so they stay upright. I'm not one to get the Xmas tree and decorations up early but I guess I could start thinking (and doing something) about that while time allows! Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 02-12-2022 First sign of blossom end rot on my tomatoes. I'm thinking the constant rain has washed most of the right stuff out of the potting mix so they are getting baking soda and some more milk powder today. Then some feeding in a few days time. Always a challenge growing them in pots, but I must admit at over six feet high they haven't done badly this time round. And the beans are well away, so my potted vege aren't all behaving badly. Dropped off two brown bags of discards to the Sallies yesterday and have another well underway from all this cat inspired rearranging. Do I Need This as I pick something up has become a mantra, and being a bit of a magpie the answer is increasingly No I Don't! And the weather looks potentially clear so I might do another trip to the village today or tomorrow, inspired by a completely useless collection of books picked up yesterday from the library. Some visits are like that, I should stop picking them based on the cover art alone... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 02-12-2022 Morning Everyone, So pleased you are negative KM.. Just still be careful and take things slowly.. Lol like any Taureans I know, that's almost impossible lol. Roma I have been thinking about my decorations too. I never want to Not do them cos then I would have turned into my mother. She hated doing them. So I might do mine on the weekend and Blow the property manager away when she visit's on Tuesday for an inspection. Im going to annoy MrP today. Cos I dont want to sit in a room of people who aren't wearing masks to sing along. Ill drop some stuff off for him at the desk tho. So I won't be his favourite person, but thats nothing unusual lol. Might attack the rangehood when I get back.. It really needs doing . Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 02-12-2022 I thought about the dusting, then filed that thought into the 'not-on-your-nelly- file. I feel like I've hit a brick wall today. I think it's my body telling me it's fought the good fight and won but now needs some recovery time. My American friend phoned (yay for What's App lol) to check on me and told me Covid is rampart over there. There have also been a lot of Thanksgiving murders It's just crazy how people behave. Good idea about not going to the singing at the rest home, popeye. I'm surprised they are still having it with Covid in the home. No decorations for us yet. Maybe when I have found my ooomph. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 02-12-2022 When I unearthed the storage bins I found leftover Christmas things from family days and took a few out before donating the rest to hospice. So I now have the wine corks wreath on the front door and some ornate padded beaded and tasseled hearts hanging from the lampshade over my bed. I rarely turn that one on so it has become my nod to chandeliers past. Those sillinesses make me smile while the plastic Santa Clauses bring out the Grinch in this pagan witch... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 02-12-2022 Well, that's the last of the Christmas shopping done with the parcel arriving in the post. I can sit and feel smug until I can guarantee, Christmas Eve, I'll realise I've forgotten someone lol. Better get something neutral 'just in case'. I usually make our wreath from dried roses dried from the first flush of the season. That damed late frost put a cobwash on that. I'll think of something The lavender is going great guns and so is the sage and rosemary. It might just be a herbal wreath instead. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 02-12-2022 morning all nice day here not super hot though 17 degrees. Popped over to Petone gluten free cafe and picked up the sponge fingers I ordered on Tuesday - I was wicked and had a coffee and another cream filled donut Did my food hunt on the way home so can relax a bit. DH has friend over who is learning to paint with water colours so they are occupied. I am heading down to the sewing cave to draft a bigger sized pattern for DGD need to add to the length - I forgot gr.. so more charity sewing lol Out to friends place for dinner tonight so it will be good to catch up. Xmas tree up over the weekend.Something to tantalise the 15 month old toddler. Bought myself a xmas present yesterday at quilt shop a Tailor press and cut board. DH and I usually just get stuff for our hobbies as we see them - will wrap this up and put under the tree. At ;east this way I get something that is useful enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 02-12-2022 Yeah I spoke with MrP.. I could have taken it personally but I said to him if I got covid I wouldn't be able to get his treats from the supermarket or deliver them. So he was ok. I am a little sad this morning. We have known that Bobbie is going downhill. but MrP woke up to her holding a water jug (Heavy Glass) over his head. She dropped that and tried to get her hands around his neck. He called the staff in. And they took her back to her room but had a talk with MrP too. They said they have all noticed how she is going downhill. very quickly. And they also told him to tell me not to buy her any more secondhand clothes , apparently she has yelled at them that she won't wear other people's stuff. He's going to put his wheelchair in front of the bathroom door which is how she goes into his room. So he will at least hear that and have a chance to be prepared. I put some masks in his bag too, and told him to wear one when he goes to the music if he goes. I managed to get a bag of fruit mix and spent my last $2 on some granny smith apples, so not only am I hoping the decorations will be nice for the property manager but I will be baking as well lol... I love the idea of a fresh wreath.. Ill put my tree on the door over the weekend. When I was young I kept a gold coloured bauble from the few decorations that we had. I carried it around with me, including to Australia. in 2006 on December 10th, after my heart surgery I was attempting to put it on the top of the tree, where I always put it as a reminder of my father, and dropped it. I was sooo upset.. but MrP said your dad is still with you, and we went and brought the nicest one we could find at the time. It will never be the same but I guess it was meant to happen. His birthday was December 10th. Ill probably start with the coffee table and end up doing everything lol. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 02-12-2022 That's good news, KM, I bet you're pleased to be rid of covid. Sad about your friend Bobbie, Popeye. There's some hope that in the future, they may be able to remove some of the gunk in the brain which they think causes dementia but of course that's not much use now. It rained heavily last night & again this morning so no work in the garden possible today. Instead I wrapped up some xmas gifts & finished the notebook cover which looks much better this time. I'm not sure why but wrapping up xmas gifts al ways makes me tired. Mind you mowing the wretched lawn yesterday tired me a bit; the constant bit of rain now & then made it longer than usual so took longer. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 02-12-2022 Hi from a lovely sunny HB supposed to rain tonight so that will save me watering my veggies -I didn’t keep track of which seed was which - one cucumber is so much faster and more prolific than the other - they are the short green ones - tomatoes have already started to ripen but the lettuces have bolted and the radishes they are all tops.I belong to a veggie swap group - swapped 8 avocado for half a dozen free range eggs which turned out to be bantam size with no yolks - won’t swap with her again Hunny the cat I am sure has found the perfect home - I let my family talk me out of getting another dog - shouldn’t have listened to them - I still miss him and I used to walk 2km everyday now hardly ever go walking - give myself all sorts of excuses why I shouldn’t I have been watching a pair of young blackbirds construct a nest in my kowhai tree - kept telling them it wasn’t the ideal place - yesterday the nest ended up on the lawn - it was so intricately built I put it back as high as I could reach but they flew off and I haven’t seen them today I have stayed away from any where I am likely to get covid including the doctor - actually that’s not true it’s not because of covid I never go just ring for the repeat of the same meds I have taken for years - new doctor insisted I come in for blood tests wouldn’t give me a repeat until I did - so went Monday and was gobsmacked to see people without masks - the nurse who took my blood was maskless - received notification yesterday that several staff had tested positive so to be wary of any symptoms - grrr.Good to hear your recovery is progressing well Kiwimade - one of my sons now has it for the second time - he is supposed to be shearing his sheep tomorrow hope he doesn’t overdo it New low at the supermarket yesterday - a 13 year old girl pulled a knife on another shopper - somebody is going to get really hurt - both my grandkids are working during the holidays along with several other school and Uni kids frightening really Lilith thank you for the heads up re the genre of my neighbours style of painting - has made me really look at her work - it has many layers - I have never really looked at abstract art before .She is enjoying being here - she is a night owl like me so instead of the whole street being in darkness except me by about 10.30 she stands out like a beacon as she is two story .When we were young my Dad started a trucking company and we were really hard up - so on an occasional Sunday evening as a family outing for us 5 kids he would borrow my Granddads car and bring us into town and we along with other families would park outside what I thought at the time was the most magnificent two story house - it has a big front window and a staircase coming down into the large front room - the lady of the house would come down the staircase to her grand piano with a huge candelabra and play for us all for about an hour - my grandads car doors opened in the middle - we used to sit there with the doors wide open - I can’t really remember the music but my over active imagination used to have me coming down those stairs .My Dad would be tickled pink to think I am now living opposite this very same house RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 02-12-2022 We had fun this evening. Wines in the courtyard transitioned into burgers and chips from the local chippy, been years since we did that with coviditis ruining our socialising. It was cool, in all the ways cool can be. And no dishes. I might have a big glass of water though before bed, me being a cheap drunk I don't do hangovers very well so best avoided with extra hydration! |
