RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 21-12-2022

I have them in my off the ground worm farm.  How they get in is a complete mystery ... only a tap about a foot away from the ground for entry  Undecided I do remove  ... with a grimace!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-12-2022

Good morning everyone

We used to get those slugs at the other house.. They are impressive eh.

Missy had a skink the other day and I couldn't get it from her to put him back outside.

Hospital just called and said they had booked his ride to Pukekohe.. I dont care really..

I told him he had a choice of me taking clothes over tomorrow or Christmas Day. but I didn't say I would be seeing him.

And I've decided since I dont want to see him I'll probably do it tomorrow and not see him.

Pak n Save there has lamb for $10 a kilo. I might just splash out and buy one for myself....... Ohh to have my coal range to cook it in... They really were the best way to cook everything. I have kumara and could buy a tattie or two while Im there.
Other than making my trifles I hadn't decided on anything else.

And to be honest I have never been a fan of travelling on Christmas Day.

Covid sucks and sadly I think its going to ruin soo many peoples Christmas's... They just tested MrP he is Negative.

Saw some pictures of terrible flooding on the TGA side of the Kaimais yesterday.. You would have thought it was the middle of winter and a massive storm.

Im going to pop up and see the ladies today, since I have to go get my pills. Will be interesting to see if the manager says anything, which she can say in front of the others...

Have a fab day all

I think yours is a young one  because the one I came across was almost half the length of my foot. I was pleased I had seen it before I squished it, because it certainly was an incredible creature. There might be more in your garden if it is a ypungster - lucky you.

None here though, just the usual pains in the arses that I give flying lessons to when I spot them hiding in my upturned pots...  Smile

You can keep your coal ranges, the Aga we had in Taupo set the roof on fire one spring evening, and as we were ten kays out it took a long time to get help. Not my best memories...

RE: You can never have enough... - GJW - 21-12-2022

Popeye, check Countdown I think they are ten dollars a kilo there this week

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-12-2022

I bought venison sausages... This holiday season is going to be a food explosion in this house. I had to debox the squid strips to squeeze them into the overfull freezer! Still, it means I don't have to shop till after New Years...

Unless I run out of wine.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-12-2022

Got it for $10-49 a kilo.. Paid $18 for a $40 piece. And small enough to pop into my crockpot so I can make lashings of gravy. Yummm. Got a couple of tatties and have kumara beans and corn.. OMG yum

Had a nice time with the ladies, and I had forgotten a couple of things so have brought those home too.

Will go up again probably on Christmas day cos I dont travel on Christmas day.

MrP has landed in Pukekohe, Ill decide if I will ring later. but Ive asked them how much stuff I need to take over.. And it will depend on his mood as to whether I visit or just drop and run. Which is what Im tempted to do..

A good 2.5 hours at the home and the Manager still said nothing... lol

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-12-2022

She's ashamed.

And so she should be...

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 21-12-2022

That manager would be well advised to continue saying nothing, I think.

Despite the forecast all day rain, its been fine here at last so grabbed the opportunity & mowed both lawns, in case of more rain which could still happen.
I won't be doing anything else today & am thinking of having a sandwich rather than cooking.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 21-12-2022

Ok I am easily led bought a leg of lamb $9/kg so that added $21 to my shopping, DH wanted bubbles so needless to say my shopping g total reached an all time record.

Sounds like we are all going to be eating well over Xmas.

Another 3hrs quilting completed several more to hours to go

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-12-2022

I'm also easily led lol and bought one of those legs of lamb and my budget went out the window too. Sigh...

We had MrK's eye appointment, and all is good. The surgeon is very happy and everything is healing nicely. He is especially happy with the iris which is just awesome. The BEST Christmas present ever, and we told the surgeon this too Heart

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-12-2022

Oops Sorry lol.. but I take no responsibility for peoples budgets.. but hey we will all be eating well lol...

The Ministry of Health rang.. The Dr has forwarded all my emails to her but she wants anything else I have to advise them off and then in the new year there will be investigations..

She listened and was really good.

So I have time to get it all straight in my head again.. Just as well even with all the mess happening I have a very good memory.

She did tell me that They wont be able to claim much more money now that none of his gear was there and he has been handed over..

I phoned MrP and Honestly it can do ya head in.. He was back to his normal self.. Jekyll and Hyde really.

Ill be going to see him on Friday cos he knows how firm I am in Not being on the roads on Christmas Day. They dont have visiting until 2-30pm till 8pm, but they kick you out for their night meal time too.

So Im going to do my bloods and get my pills on Friday morning, either see the ladies or go and bum around in Pukekohe and then see him. He needs clothes.. And Ill take his present and munchies with me.

He put 3 kilos on in Hospital, so now Im 9.5 kilos lighter than him... Im down 51 kilos now.

Glad MrK's eye is doing so well KM... Very reassuring eh.

We had light drinkies under the brolly in the courtyard, so dinner was a split bun with pickles topped with cheese, under the grill, and yum...

I can cook a proper dinner tomorrow.  Big Grin

Well, popeye  I wish we lived closer, because I feel you could do with a hug sometimes. You are doing so much for others, I hope your own gas tank stays well filled.

Tg we have a good online community in here. And most of us will be around during the holidays if you need company.

My thoughts exactly - sod cooking for today.

Knock on the door yesterday evening proved to be the neighbours of the religious persuasion (Baptist I think) bearing gifts. Every year just before Xmas they arrive with a small bag of goodies, mostly home made by their son with the gorgeous red hair - he's the family baker - for some of their neighbours & extremely yummy they are too. These are good christians of the sort who don't just talk the talk but do stuff in the community - school lunches etc. & as I discovered one day while doing the hedge when a  wee girl popped her head over the fence & struck up a conversation about how she & her brother were going to a new school because they were being fostered because their mum & dad weren't very good for each other, they also foster kids.
If only all religious people were like them, rather than the sort who are so keen on converting others.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-12-2022

morning ladies Smile  More rain and we had thunder overnight which meant a shaky Furry One under the covers in spite of the heat.

That manager is just unbelievable, popeye.  Nothing at all!  As Lilith says, it's probably for the best.  Good to see the ministry is taking this seriously.

Yummmmmmm venison sausages, we haven't had them for ages... with plum sauce! It must have been the evening for lazy dinners, we had ham on toast for dinner last night.  After a busy morning then MrK's hospital appointment and braving the supermarket, neither of us could be bothered.

My aunt's funeral is next week so the Fluffy One is coming to stay for a week's holiday while my sister goes.  I suspect this will be her last stay with us as she is 16 and almost blind as a bat.  I have no idea when they are taking my aunt's brain, I haven't liked to ask.  But I think it's fascinating what they could use it for and the good that could come out of this.

We picked the first cucumber yesterday, so the vegies are coming on nicely.  MrK gave the grapevine a light prune yesterday so the grapes can see some sun to ripen.

I'm hoping to have some time to work on the quail today.  Have stitched down his neck and will be working on his breast next.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 22-12-2022

Morning all
More moisture in air good thing DH got our lawns mowed.

Glad MOH bods taking your information seriously Popeye. You look after yourself.

More quilting on my agenda today still haven't decided how I am going to quilt the background yet.

Glad MrK eyesight has improved KM like you I didn't mind driving DH around after his brain surgery but it was nice when he started driving again this year.

Better get moving.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - Venetian1 - 22-12-2022

Well our “nice” day yesterday didn’t last and by lunchtime it was pouring down and showers in pm. Today it’s grey and dull again Sad

I think Lazy dinners are great at this time of the year although I did have a proper one last evening which included home grown veg - broccoli, carrots and Pak choy and freshly stewed rhubarb. I have a few cucumbers developing at long last I think with all the rain the bees are staying home.

Went to my favourite orchard yesterday for fruit and there are very few apricots this year and the cherries are struggling to survive too. So hard for the orchardists.

Need to pick up a book from the library today and would like to walk - not swim through puddles so hope the rain continues to stay away.  Big Grin

Have a happy day - keep smiling  Big Grin  Heart

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-12-2022

Morning everyone

And thank you all your support means alot to me.. Alot of the time I feel like a weak person who says shes had enough, then is still in the thick of it with MrP. Its the Jekyll and Hyde part that is hard to deal with.

Im trying to think what I had for tea last night and I obviously didnt lol I did buy two yummy cheese kaiser rolls yesterday and had them about 2ish. So if I eat lunch that late I tend to graze. I remember having cheese anyway cos madam has to have some too lol.

Slept in my chair again after tossing and turning until Midnight... But in the awake hours I realised it would be a good thing to get photos of Bobbies feet. They are shocking and still no sign of the podiatrist. In my humble opinion they need bunion surgery to straighten her toes more than a pedicure.

I wonder if the RSA would have a look for us. She did serve when she was younger in Scotland. But its further evidence at the homes lack of care, along with the Two In the Pocket drs there.

Ive decided to do my bloods this morning and then go to the Oppy. All adult clothes are $1. I might manage to find something that fits and is pretty... Always far more choice of colours in there.. Although I will say the shop colours have improved this year thank goodness.

Im always here floating around and do appreciate your company.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-12-2022

Its rained...

Kinda pooh poohs the lawnmowing yet again.

An hour ago it was ridiculously hot. Now I have a short sleeved cardy on lol.

OMG OMG MrP exercised and enjoyed it lol.

Meant to say Kiwimade, Wonderful news re MrK's eye.. We tend to take them for granted eh

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 22-12-2022

Will check in here again after Xmas, my mum passed away peacefully this morning. Time for family and remembrance. She lived a good,  long life.

Have a good Xmas everyone.
