RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-01-2022

Morning ladies

The clouds are coming in, maybe we will get some rain. Its been a while thats for sure. Im glad I dont have the big garden to water cos we pay for our water here.

Well the Manager wasn't happy. Tried putting the blame for the Commode bucket back on MrP for "Not asking" for one.. I said Seriously? they take a full one away they should bring a clean one back.
We went through his dietary sheet and made even more notes, but they dished up the same stuff, including stale sandwiches for his tea.
She reckons the lady that didn't have a bell has one now.. And wont discuss the lovely little lady Bobbie with me.

I kept my cool and followed my list so nothing was missed. MrP told me later he was proud of me... Im giving them a week for things to improve. Keeping a food diary and if nothing changes I will go to head office. And if nothing changes from that Ill be going to the Health and Disability Commissioner.

I feel like Im in a rock and a hard place cos MrP has to be there.

Funny re the One coffee, MrP used to be the same, but he drinks a lot of hot drinks in the home.. He used to only have one a day too. I dont drink either tea or coffee, never have.. I may have 3-5 hot chocolates in the winter but that's it. Made at home tho. I dont do coffee shops etc.

I need to organize some crochet before the fingers start complaining so I might do that later. Trouble is I saw a really cool design a couple of days ago that Id Love to do but need to get this other one done too lol.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 19-01-2022

morning ladies Smile  Another bluebird day today, not a cloud in the sky.  Late last night I heard some loud booms and thought it was thunder.  I had a look outside, no clouds and only a full moon so heaven knows what that was.

Dammmm about your sewing machine, mica.  How frustrating when you need to get things done.

Good on you, popeye for sticking up for MrP.  They couldn't talk to you about the lady as they are bound by the Privacy Act.  The only way round it is for her to give permission to have you advocate on her behalf.

I was in Hamilton yesterday and while there had my booster.  I drank plenty of water to try and preempt the yuck feeling I had with my 2nd jab and it seems to have worked.  Mind you, at 30 degrees it wasn't hard to drink water yesterday.  My arm is a tad sore today but no biggie.

Not much to do out in the garden, just a spot where the weeds seem to be more than usually persistent even with this heat.  It's finally time to stand (or sit lol) and enjoy it.  I'm leaving the new bit of garden until autum as we will need to top up soil where the lawn is going.  And it's just too hot for  new plants.  It's tidy and certainly looks better than it did before so I can live with it.

I'll set some time aside today to work on my frog, didn't get to it yesterday.

happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 19-01-2022

Good morning.

Another hot day expected,  hopefully a breeze blowing as yesterday to help pets and humans cope!

Yesterday was a sewing machine day giving a couple of tops new life by making them sleeveless and taking up the hem of a dress that I didn't like the length of. A way to recycle (and wear) some little worn clothes ... I hope!

Some baking planned today before it gets hot to take to Hamilton tomorrow when visiting our parents.

A couple of days ago a friend from way back visited who, it became obvious, was a staunch anti-vaxxer. I wasn't very happy she didn't tell me before the visit,  given we have vulnerable family members. I'm going to have to "say something" when she is next in the area,  as she says she will be before any more visiting.  What a divided society we now live in  Sad   It was so weird scanning our passes into the wedding a couple of weeks ago. I know there were family who couldn't attend because of their stance.

Time for a bit of watering,  have a great day.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-01-2022

Morning everyone

Very still out there at the mo.. hopefully the breeze will return before it gets too hot.

Yes Kiwimade Ill have to have a talk with Bobbie and see if thats what she wants re an advocate.

I pushed the tree cuttings in behind the yukkas as best that I could. If they dont like it Ill blame the worker lol..

While I was brushing the cobwebs down I ran into a small hornets nest. The brush was on it before I saw it. Thankfully they took off and didnt come at me. but I stepped back so quickly that I stumbled. Jarred my spine and hip. Its quite sore but not really anything that a Dr could do. So Im taking pain meds and using a hottie.
Ive taken very few since I started the large amounts of magnesium. I dont know if there is a connection but something is working.

I got the purple wool out yesterday to start the squares for the blanket and then I couldn't remember the way the colours had gone in the blanket I had seen. A little detective work last night and I found it. But the square's are only 5 rounds. Which means a heck of a lot of squares if I do a large one. So I think I will double the numbers of the rows and see how that goes. Im looking forward to doing it cos Ive wanted to do a granny square one with white edging.

Have to dash up to the home this morning. MrPs torch batteries have died. Im sure he has the batteries but will drop some more off.

My bar stool arrived yesterday.. I ordered it from the warehouse after seeing the same ones in our supermarket. Nice and strong and a very good height for the breakfast bar so Ill be able to roll biscuits out or decorate them while sitting.. Only $29 which I think is an awesome price for the quality.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 20-01-2022

morning ladies Smile It's much cooler this morning with rain clouds. Fingers and everything crossed we get some rain today.

Roma, we had a family member who was dubious about being vaxxed but was told by another family member she couldn't come to family 'do's' unless she was vaccinated as we have cancer survivors and heart patients. Amazingly, she was one who had a heart op not long ago. She did get vaccinated but it was a difficult conversation that needed to be done. So I completely understand where you are coming from with your friend.

MrK is planning to change the oil and filter on the car today, it's the first time he's done it since we got the car in October/November. He's a mechanic and likes to do what he can which is great for us as we just buy the oil and filter and don't have to pay for labour.

My sister-in-law is having to change the ignition on her car thanks to the burglar who stole her car keys the other day, around $1000 to do it. Thank goodness for insurance. I don't think they have caught him yet.

I've worked my way down to the frogs front leg and if I can't get outside today then I'll be able to embroider a bit more. Yesterday I decluttered the spare room where I sew and I have another pile to go to the op shop at some time.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 20-01-2022

Morning all
Misty drizzle this morning here.

Had lovely day out yesterday.
Off to the gym shortly then home for coffee and shower. First day back volunteer work so will no doubt be lots to do sorting through baby clothes and gear.
Hope to quilt this afternoon really want to get it finished as have a friend coming to stay over the weekend.

We can't have unvaxed people here due to DH health and also need to protect our GKs. So understand your concerns Roma.
Some people have stopped working due to vax stance I wonder how long they can last without income.

I want to do some baking today as well so I am going to be a busybee today

Hope your tweaked back has settled down Popeye

Have a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 20-01-2022

Morning everyone

Still no rain here.. Im going to go around the block today to see how dry the hills are. We need it.

I understand re the vaccines too Roma. My brother has always been against vaccines of any sorts. His kids never got any when they were young. But Since he had cancer he's had a change of mind and had the Covid ones. As much as I wanted to see him I wasnt planning on letting him in the house until he got his shots.

He has finally told my twin he had bowel cancer so now I dont have to keep that quiet anymore.

Thank goodness for Insurance Kiwimade. Its bad enough being broken into, but having to pay out like that on top of it , well to put it plainly it Sucks.

I showed MrP a photo of your frog the other day.. Took a photo of your photo. he loves it and said you are one Very Clever lady.

I did one square yesterday and I like it. So will carry on. Id hoped to do more but was manning the phone in the afternoon sorting out a mess on the financial side where money was going to the right place and being paid on the wrong part lol.. Sorted now thank goodness lol.

Need to get a few groceries this morning and then home.

The back is still niggly. Its sort of in a different place. but the Dr cant do anything more, so Im resting it, stretching it, heating it and hopefully it will ease off.

Have a Fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 20-01-2022

I am off to the Asia Gallery today courtesy of a friend and will have to be very strong with all though glorious fabrics to tempt me. I really have enough in my stash, but when faced with such a glorious temptation resistance is futile as they say...

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 20-01-2022

Rain Glorious Rain.....

So heavy I couldnt see how brown the hills were cos the clouds we really low.

But its been light rain for the last couple of hours...!!!!!!! Yayay.

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 20-01-2022

Good afternoon all.

A pleasant day in Hamilton today with some brief showers and much reduced temperature. We don't expect we will get any much needed rain in the Bay though. A nephew hitched a ride back with us as he is in a wedding party over here this wkd (the wedding we attended recently was his sister). I'd say it is good to get these weddings out of the way before the inevitable 'red light' rules come into play! Omicron is SO close now  Sad  Glad that hubbie and I are getting our boosters over with tomorrow. I do think there will be a lot more hesitant/anti vaxers lining up as they finally accept it's the best way to go!

Hope to sew up the wee cardi that has taken a while, while watching Under the Vines On-Demand this evening  Shy

Time for a late cuppa and a few jobs to do before thinking about dinner.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-01-2022

morning ladies Smile  No rain yesterday, just a few spits the wind blew away before it hit the ground.  So the rain clouds went by flipping us the bird as they went.

Popeye, can you thank MrP for the compliment for me please.  I'm still working on the frog's arm (or is it leg?), long and short stitch takes a while to do.

Roma, I agree, Omicron isn't far away.  We watched the PM's press conference yesterday and agree with her, we have to be ready.  The government can't do it all, we have to play our part with boosters and organising our lives to work with it.  We're having MrK's sister's memorial soon, so fingers crossed we can get through that without the red traffic light.

We're looking at changing power companies and are thinking of using one of the online firms.  We don't usually chop and change companies but there are better deals out there.  And I'm thinking now's the time to change before winter kicks in and our contract turns over for another year.

Housework today, not that there is much of it to do but I like to keep on top of things.  Embroidery later this afternoon when it gets too hot to be outside.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-01-2022

Morning everyone

Oh its still nice and cool. No fan on lol... And there's a little breeze. The rain was wonderful. I've lost track as to when we had our last rain but it would be last year I think.

Will pass on your message Kiwimade... It truly is beautiful. I love being able to take photos of things Im talking about and can show MrP without waiting for photos to be developed.. A true bonus to mobile phones.

I didn't see the Prime ministers announcement yesterday. I wonder if I can view it online. But yes I think its time to make sure I have a few extra things in the pantry etc, just in case. Its too easy for people to become complacent.

Off to see MrP this morning. More maintenance lol toe nail trimming lol.. not my fave job but I can at least put his bed right up high so Im not bending over.

When I get home I have to ring the pound or animal control anyway.. Over the back fence are two dogs. A German shepherd and what I think is a Jaffa Doberman or perhaps Weimaraner. The shepherd attacked the other while I was outside yesterday and then again last night. The owners came out but were behind a screen. I told them to separate them cos the shepherd is vicious.
Im not one to "dob" people in but this shouldn't be happening. And the first attack I know for a fact the jaffa one was sitting there minding its own business and the shepherd just jumped in and attacked it.

Hope to do another square later.. Im still at one but thats ok. yesterday was busy.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 21-01-2022

Morning all

Sunny here today a bit of light rain yesterday morning.

My muscles complained when I got up this morning knew I had used them yesterday.
Lots to do yesterday a huge quantity of donated baby  clothes people  must have a sort out o er the holidays.
Quite a few pack requests too.

Food hunting this morning.

Have a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-01-2022

Had a lovely morning out yesterday and brought home a nice long thin strip of indigo dyed red and cream hand embroidered antique hemp cloth with some of the very faded patchwork lining still intact. I think it is from one of the hill tribes in Cambodia, but I'm no expert. I have ideas around embellishing a denim skirt or jacket with some of it and maybe making a small phone bag with a cord so I can wear it like a lanyard. Make all this scanning we have to do a bit easier. I washed the piece yesterday and it has come up well, but will need another gentle soak before I start playing with it. Always exciting to have a new project in mind!

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-01-2022

morning ladies Smile A cool morning but expecting a hot day so I'm heading out to mow the lawn shortly.

Oh_hunnihunni, that is lovely fabric. It will lovely embellishing clothes and those panels will make a gorgeous bag. I think some beadwork on it could work too.

No embroidery for me yesterday, was too busy pottering about. I'll put more time aside to work on it again today.

I had no reaction to the booster jab, a sore arm for a bit then nothing. MrK has another week to wait before he can have his.

Time to get this body moving. Won't take long to mow the lawn, it's mainly mowing over the daisies and paspallum and the few weeds I've thrown onto the lawn. Can't wait for rain which we are suppose to have next week. I'll believe it when I see it.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 22-01-2022

Morning all.

Just back from walking my dog (3 legged so enjoys the cooler time of day). Our road is a detour route today with a sporting activity on the closed roads. Expect it to be busy with a lot of visitors in town. The Black Clash game is on later as well.

Yes mica, interesting times ahead. My arm is bruised and sore today ... hard to get comfy last night.  Hubby next to no effects, slight soreness. Good to know we have next level protection though.

Kiwimade, fingers crossed for the forecast rain!

Time for morning coffee. Enjoy the day.

Beads? Now there's an interesting idea.

I had a happy hour or so yesterday googling embellished denim jackets. There are some clever people out there on the interweb.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-01-2022

Morning everyone.

Fine and very still here today.

So pleased none of you have had any reactions. Its wasn't pleasant to say the least lol

A friend is off to the Black Clash tonight. But she was already starting to feel her anxiety building. I dont know how long they will stay. I told her to convince herself that the masks are a part of everyone's costumes.. I simply wouldn't go to be honest. You see more sitting in a comfy chair at home with a fan etc. And no risks of catching covid.

A cricket fest today, with it starting at 10 am with the women's.

I want to get a couple of cleaning jobs done, but in the kitchen so Ill hear the tv anyway.

Hunnihunni I love that fabric. Cant wait to see what you do with it.

MrP enjoyed his home made bread yesterday.. Hes starting to Thank me for things. Never has before so its a little strange but nice.

Ill hang off my crochet hook later, once Ive done my games.

Have a fab day everyone
