RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-01-2023 morning ladies We have a few drops of rain and a teeny bit of wind, so pretty calm really considering a cyclone is about to hit us. The road is very quiet as people are obviously staying home. I wouldn't want to go over the Kaimai Ranges in a cyclone, that's for sure. MrK has refilled the kettle so we have water if the power goes off and I'll fill a bucket for the loo. We can access water from the tank if we have to though. No power = no water here. And just out of curiosity, MrK has emptied the rain gauge so we can see how much rain we're having. I suspect though that worst of the cyclone will miss us. Fingers and everything crossed everyone is safe. The Furry One started shaking again around 5.00pm and stressing even though we couldn't hear any thunder or gunshots and MrK was home. So, we're back to the drawing board. I'm suspecting it could be food related so I'll try changing his dinner to biscuits. It may mean a phone call to our vet to sort out. Thanks to Covid in the clinic, they are only taking emergencies and are short staffed. That's good news about MrP, popeye. If it's going to be a rubbish day weather wise, I'll be trying to finish this embroidery. There has to be an upside to this cyclone happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 10-01-2023 Morning all Looks like nice day out Glad thing progressing for MrP KM sorry that Furry One is stressed my boy dog acts like this and sometimes its hard to know why then I check Geonet and often a wee earth fart is probably the reason. I am sure he has PTSD from 2016 Kaikora earthquake he was very upset by that event. DS and family visited yesterday afternoon so it was nice to catch up DGS told me he likes his birthday quilt so that made all the work worth while Off to city soon have ophthalmologist appt for routine check up this morning then food hunting on the way home. Got my quilt toille sandwiched up yesterday so will get to quilting it later today. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-01-2023 Thanks for that, mica I guess we just have to ride it out. We have had that 5.1M jolt the other day and maybe he is feeling the odd aftershock that we can't. We'll just have to keep reassuring him It's hard isn't it, when you can't explain things to them. I'm thinking I could probably mow the lawn, I don't care that the grass is wet. We're only having a few spots of rain and less wind than yesterday. The neighbours will think I'm nuts lol, but better to be thought nuts than ordinary RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 10-01-2023 Good morning. We have had a bit of rain and there is a slight breeze .... calm before the storm I think! Yesterday was very hot and windy ... the over 80mm worth of rain we'd had, getting sucked up but I think the next few days will change that again! A few jobs to do out and about and then hunker down inside. I'm glad I don't live on Great Barrier Island, I see the ferry with groceries and supplies has been cancelled until it's safe to cross again. That will be good to have Mr P in town Popeye ... much easier for you, I imagine. I hope you can sort out the Furry One KM .... I wonder if the Tirau Vet which we used to use has similar staff issues. The ones over in the Bay are also struggling for numbers. Cuppa over, better keep moving. Stay dry and safe all. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 10-01-2023 Morning Everyone A little windy but no worse than any other day, as yet. it has rained. Hope you can figure out what is upsetting the Furry one Kiwimade. I think its my Sister friends furry ones 17th birthday so he is getting on. She started a new full time job yesterday so he will be feeling it after having his Mum home for nearly a year since the factory burnt down. It is good that MrP is coming back to town. It was really messing with the finances that were already tight, having to travel every week. Turns out that the first home shouldn't have been taking money so they winz section is working on that. Hope to hear from them today. A quick tip. If you should find the Quality Streets boxes of Orange Matchsticks in the warehouse. DO NOT BUY lol.. if you like orange and chocolate together, they are soooooo yummy. And very hard to stop eating. Have to go back to being good again. A couple of Christmas Kilos have returned. Not so much eating too much, just the wrong stuff lol.. And to be honest I havent liked the over full feeling lol. Just a quiet one for me today. Tomorrow I will be visiting both homes lol. What did everyone think of the Interview last night... All I could think was Personal responsibility Harry. Especially about the drugs. The paparazzi didnt push them up his nose. And he needs to stop blaming everyone else. And he made his choices Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 10-01-2023 Popeye, I thought if he was seeking privacy and non-paparazzi invasion, he's sure gone about it the wrong way Not to mention getting up close and friendly with the Royal family again! Exactly Roma. I think he knows he has gone too far. And she is feeding him with all the stuff. Race, Their safety. If anything their safety is worse now with what he has said about the time he was in Iraq. Apparently the Taliban are not happy with what he has admitted to. He would be better to return home, cap in hand, tail down and pull his head in RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-01-2023 I feel terribly sorry for all of them. When it comes down to it, this is just dysfunctional family stuff, completely normal sibling rivalry and offspring separation dynamics rolled up with ptsd, unresolved childhood grief, and hugely exacerbated by being royals. If only they could all wave a wand and disappear the power mad courtiers, the raving nutters in the media, and us as their audience, they'd discover their lives were as boring and uneventfully calm as ours are blessed to be, interrupted by those moments of extreme joy and total terror, lol. Poor Harry needs a trusted mentor who can tell him to just shut up and do his own thing with his lovely wife and little family. He doesn't need the UK royals, he's fine in America. Shut up and get on with it. He'd be happier, if a little poorer without those media cheques in his pocket. Silly boy... Your right OHH.. he needs someone he can trust to put him back on the right path. And they all need to start talking privately not in the news RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 10-01-2023 I didn't watch; I think it must be hellish for Charlie & the other royals with him airing family stuff & causing estrangement between them 'washing your dirty linen in public' it used to be called. It can't be much fun when one family member is being difficult so very publicly, & of course the press are making much of it. They should all just quietly withdraw & leave them to get on with it, & yes, he does need to shut the hell up now. KM, I wonder if one of those thunder jacket thingys might help the furry one. Thats good news about Mr P, Popeye - should make things slightly easier for you. Contrary to the forecast, the sun's shining here so I needn't have raced about getting the dreaded shopping done after all. We have quite a wind out there though, not looking forward to the walk later on. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-01-2023 I have several lovely pale coloured bed covers but the Pud leaves a layer of black fur so I have been sticky rollering that up on a daily basis. Then I spotted a black Wallace Cotton duvet cover on TM, bid on it and it arrived yesterday and is on the bed now minus duvet with fresh sheets and everything plumped up and smooth... And Pud declines to go anywhere near it. Bloody cats! Never mind, it does go rather well with my black chairs, and interestingly enough the effect is not quite as dark and moody as I thought it might be. And a change is always fun... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-01-2023 I refused to watch both interviews and am over all the Harry & Megan stuff. He is being a brat. He has had tough times but I'll give him how tough it was for him after his mum died. But he has also had more opportunities in his life than you or I will ever see. If life was so tough, then sort it. I think you are right, OHH. He needs someone outside of all of this he can trust to confide in and give sensible advice. I also think it's time he just shut up and dealt with his issues. We don't need to hear it all. Lilith, the Furry One hates those jackets and paws at them trying to take them off. Stubborn little buggar lol. So far, so good this morning, let's see what the afternoon brings. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 10-01-2023 Lol OHH, bloody cats for sure .... my seal burmese might be sleek, but he leaves plenty of his dark fur on light covers as well! A dark cloth on the spot he always sleeps (on a spare bed) meant he just slept to the side Door is now closed, it's tedious enough regularly grooming him without the covers as well! The rain has really set in now ... hoping the expected 'storm' isn't too damaging. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-01-2023 The silly thing is I once had some gorgeous moody dark bed linen, and my precious bicolour oriental made that an issue with his pale fur... Everything changes but remains the same! RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 10-01-2023 Windy and humid here - heavy rain is supposed to arrive shortly - street sweeper has been along and cleaned all the run offs - we have a lot of trees in our street and we all used to take care of our own but a council member moved into the street and we now have regular sweeps! I didn’t watch either interviews as it’s all about money money money - he probably has issues but you don’t make money selling your family out - interesting Meaghan did the same with her family and despite her father providing proof of giving her a fantastic childhood -she completely destroyed him and unfortunately he took the same path Harry has taken .I heard a comment about an argument with William about shaving his beard off for the wedding - Meaghan wanted Harry to wear a military uniform and despite Harry not being entitled to he was given dispensation to wear it - William asked Harry to respect the services protocol and remove the beard - Harry turned that around to William being jealous of the beard - to me that highlights the difference in the moral compass of the two brothers .Harry and Meaghan have been paid multi millions to write 3 books so no doubt Meaghans will be next - sad really as the relationship my two sons have with each other is something special - they have had fights - one evening they were fighting - not punching - over a ball in their bedroom - would have been about 13 or 14 and completely wrecked their bunks .I saw one of them sneaking out the back door with an armful of wood it was their demolished bunks going out to the old boys shed for a miraculous rebuild RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-01-2023 Exactly. But boys being boys shouldn't be media fodder, nor should the palace be involved in leaking. But the bad behaviour isn't limited to the royal redhead, in fact, it could be said the palace could have put a stop to all of it, and still could, simply by genuinely observing that code of silence to the media. But of course they won't. They'll go right on exploiting them all. I'd fire the lot of them. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 10-01-2023 (10-01-2023, 02:26 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Exactly. But boys being boys shouldn't be media fodder, nor should the palace be involved in leaking. Well, it could be said that the French did that, sort of. But realistically, it really can't be much fun being a royal - no privacy, & the press constantly making up stuff about you. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 10-01-2023 They should have just gone to the US and had a happy life - they seem to love on another and had plenty of money and contacts over there to continue doing the things that interested them and left all the drama behind - their kids don’t need titles that just perpetuates the control the establishment has on them - he has appeared on every program in the US he can possibly appear on - that I don’t understand from somebody who claims to have been harmed so spectacularly by the media - it’s a pity her family is so dis functional as well and he would want to get advice from his uncle ! Dug my crochet out - months ago I bought from somewhere a coat hanger with ten metal pegs hanging off it - it is brilliant I am working with 8 different bobbins of different colours - thread each one through a peg and instead of a tangle the wool is running through beautifully. But on the depressive side I have been scammed by an online shop - should have known it was too good to be true - lovely lawn nighties $8.99 each - I usually put everything through PayPal as they automatically refund your money but these scammers didn’t have that facility - have contacted the bank - it’s only $40 but they have my credit card details - can’t do much with it has a $500 limit on it RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-01-2023 One of my neighbours bought two pairs of sandals online, by credit card, and didn't check the debit, then left it for months before thinking no parcel meant something was wrong. $600 later... Silly thing is this is the third time she's been scammed. She needs supervision... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-01-2023 morning ladies Looks like the cyclone is passing through. Oh buggar, Jan. A few years ago, I bought a pattern online from a site I had bought from before with no problems only to find a payment for a TV streaming service in France debited to our account. Thank goodness for mobile apps and I was able to use the app to block the card before notifying the bank. Because I check our accounts daily (paranoid about scammers & online shopping lol) I was able to spot it straight away. The bank said I did the right thing and by notifying them so quickly they were able to get our money back after asking me questions about it. I told them it's not like I had been to Paris to spend the $$$ lol. And they asked if I had used the site before with any problems. It would seem the site was either hacked or our details sold. The banker said often scammers will take small amounts out hoping you don't check your accounts regularly and the amounts will go unnoticed. Then they completely empty the account. It cost us $10 for another card but well worth it. So, it does pay to check often, especially if you buy online. I hope you get your money back The lawn didn't get mowed after all as the rain really kicked in, so I'll have a go today. The pile of concrete fill is slowly disappearing. I'm roughly halfway now The Furry One had a stress-free day yesterday! Couldn't believe it lol. No shaking and panting at all. Even when I took MrK to his mates for a beer yesterday afternoon, nothing. It was a day of tug ropes and racing round, especially when wet lol as he hates being toweled dry. Whatever was bugging him seems to be over (for now ) Almost finished this embroidery piece, then I can set my stand up with the quail v2 . I'll have a tutu working the feathers first as it's quite fussy. I might find working with three needles better than stop/starting. It's a technique I've avoided as my threads keep getting tangled. Speaking of tangled, glad you have found a way to work through it, Jan Happy crafting |
