RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-04-2023

So when I report the landline issue I get told to go through steps that I can't physically do...

So, I have definitely decided to get rid of the damned thing, except now Spark is having issues with their pages lol, and I can't use their chat feature.

Bloody hell, life is so complicated these days...

I will get the cheaper black Nokia though, and just find a bright case. If I ever get some human to help me do that!

Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 17-04-2023

Hope you have a better day Mica. Im still dodging that bullet.

Its so dammed frustrating when you ring these places and they tell you how you can go online and do things, but thats not working either.

I used to have a red phone . I loved it. Couldn't get a red cover this time so have purple.

Oops MrP still in a hissy. but I rang regardless. He didnt like me saying last night that he wants to come home but doesnt care if he kills me in the process. Thats the only part of the conversation he heard. MALES>>!!!! lol.

Oh well he wont have a visit.

Im listing my kids books, Annuals and Enid Blytons in a group on FB. So long as I get my money back Ill be happy. And Less to pack. lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-04-2023

I have had such an interesting morning. Frustrating as I worked through to find a way of contacting Spark without voice access - but finally found a facebook messenger route, and got everything sorted with an understanding Real Person. So landline cancelled, new broadband plan in place, new set up and ready to go mobile ordered for dispatch, old prepaid mobile credit transferred, number transferred to that new Nokia. So when it arrives I will just need to learn how to use it, with luck it won't be as scary as the old Samsung. Which btw is so outdated it cannot support the Spark app, lol...

And all because of a dead landline. Which my lovely landlord suggested I get fixed and they might reimburse me afterwards. I might've done that, except I can't even bend enough to check the plug into the ont thingamiejig...

So, this is best really. I wonder if I will miss the landline...

But doo please keep a record of numbers in a  book too.. You can never be too careful. And Have fun !!!

I went with the Spark Any Colour So Long As It Is Black version (cheaper!!) and have just discovered youtube videos on How To Paint Your Phone Red with Nail Polish, lol...

Because there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket cases with this phone, just pouches. Oh well, we shall see. Nail polish is cheap, and Trollop Scarlet would be rather fun!!

Oooh...nail polish! I bet you can get some brilliant colours in those too; what a good idea. Cool

Have just had a friend suggest that I do another book - I did one last year for when she finally became a Gran at last (& while I was at it did four copies with the other 3 for my great grandies) so explained that its massive amount of work, a pain in the proverbial & a bloody nightmare. Which I am never, ever doing again.

So then she suggested that I could use some of my illustrations to do a calendar for friends & whanau...
Bugger - the thing is I'm finally getting a printer soon & inflicting  home made stuff cunningly disguised as gifts definitely has a certain appeal... we'll see. Rolleyes

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-04-2023

morning ladies Smile The rain clouds are looming...

Nail polish! What a brilliant idea! I would never have thought of that Smile And as Lilith says, there are some gorgeous polish colours now. I love the blues and yellows Tongue

I think people think you can just magically make a book appear without realising the work that goes into one, Lilith. Or maybe they think you need something to do lol. MrK often has friends suggesting things for him to do. He becomes quite frustrated with it.

Today I am taking our friend for one of his monthly hospital appointments which means a trip to Hamilton. That's the day pretty much done by the time we get through traffic and so on.

MrK has almost finished the first of two jewelry boxes a friend asked him to make. One is for her granddaughter and the other for herself. It's gorgeous, made out of an old mahogany bed headboard with some thin slices of a paler timber spliced in as a design around the edges. He has the tray to make and I'll buy some stiff black felt from Spotlight when in Hamilton to line it. Then it's a French polish and it's good to go Big Grin

No stumpwork for me yet, I'm working on the quilt top for our daughter's quilt. The lace basted onto satin is more stable than I thought it was going to be, but heaven help me if I need to unpick it lol.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-04-2023

Morning everyone

Very still out there today.

Not a lot on my agenda today but I do have some cool news.

There is a new craft group starting up 2 days before my birthday next month. Yay.. A sister friend and another of her friends are running it. I've gathered up some stuff to donate as a raffle to kick it off. Looking forward to it and maybe it will inspire me to get back into some craft stuff.

Tried putting some of my Enid Blyton's in a book group yesterday.. Denied cos they have to be in an album, and I dont know how to do that lol.
I then looked at the prices on TM and wow some have what I consider rediculous prices on them, but I have some of the same. so I'll do some on the weekend. I prefer to list things on the weekend, people tend to have more time for window shopping.

MrP is still sulking, did ask for some chips, but doesn't want to see me. So it will wait till I go out next. Im not rushing up to deliver junk. I need to ring the home and ask them to get him checked. Hes back to being paranoid etc again.

Hope you are mending Mica... I cant imagine how you must feel.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 18-04-2023

Good morning.

Overcast and windy.  Showers are forecast.

Quiet house today with only me here. Hope to get some jobs done, library book back and maybe a quick look for some supplies plus a small pot for a String of Dolphins that has roots sprouted while sitting in water. Might even get back to the neglected cross stitch later.

The new Craft Group will be fun Popeye especially as a new start up.

I hope you are feeling better Mica and over the worst, I see in the News we are apparently in the middle of a 4th wave of Covid. I hope we have longer for our vaccinations to kick in this time (even better, we avoid it altogether) ... last time we got Covid the following week Sad

Time to move now the cuppa finished.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-04-2023

I still have some of my deck plants inside and everytime I walk past one of the bigger ones it drops green beans on the floor, which then need picking up. I can't remember the name, is it burros tail - yup, that's the one, thanks mr google. Someone sent me a few beans with another plant and now this thing is massive, but it doesn't like being touched. It usually hangs from the guttering out of reach and I look forward to putting it back there, lol...

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 18-04-2023

Those jewellery boxes sound lovely KM; there's always something much nicer about hand made things rather than the mass produced stuff.

Managed to get shopping done early as they say rain later & naturally everyone else had the same idea as it was packed...with just two checkouts open! So of course, the sun's out there blazing away.

I'm rather wishing friend hadn't put the idea in my head - there are perhaps 2-3 which might do (& I know damn well she'd want one if I decided to go ahead) but that's a long way from 12 paintings & it would be a massive hassle. Might all be too much.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-04-2023

Couldn't you use some detail shots instead of new whole paintings. I have often found those close ups are even more interesting than the whole...

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 18-04-2023

It seems that as I've long suspected - I am in fact an idiot. An idiot who decided to 'just have look what's in there' & stumbled on a folder of much older work.

A bit rough most of it but there are possibilities with some work; just not entirely sure I want to start because once begun I really really hate not to get it all done. I think perhaps I'd need to check how & if I can do it first, since I no longer have the same applications on my computer & even if I did the versions would be far later than those I've used & I'd almost certainly muck it up.
May have to check with sweetie darling no.2,AKA my tech....I can almost hear him cringe. Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-04-2023

Mummmmmmmbles loudly.." You know that pot lid Leaks" or dribbles. Two well scorched fingers with boiling water, wrapped with Meeb cream on. Then in a plastic bag...

Resulted in slightly burnt schnitzel too. But I ate it and yes the fork hurt too..

Im getting quite good at this one hand typing..

Stupid Woman

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-04-2023

I sympathise. I have overworked an arthritic shoulder with my knitting obsession, but do you think I can stop? Take two panadol and do another row I tell myself. Ouchies.

Another stupid woman!

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy lol.... I can't sleep with it in  a bag but will leave it as long as I can.  Missy doesn't like the meeb cream so is avoiding me

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 19-04-2023

morning ladies Smile Where is this promised rain?

oucchhhies, popeye, that has to hurt. Hopefully your fingers will heal quickly.

lol Lilith, your friend just had to put that germ of an idea into your head! I like OHH's idea of using bits of your paintings.

Now the bins have been emptied, I plan to put the rest of the uncompostable weeds into them today along with a couple of chunks of concrete from the garden under the windows. And the roses I had to prune back or dig out can be cut into smaller bits and binned as well.

Omg they are playing the Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Show on the radio lol... you have to dance to this lol Tongue

We're off over the Kaimais today to MrK's optometrist appointment. Spec Savers give a 50% discount for eye checks if you have a gold card. From $60 to $30. Beats the $187 our local guy charges. It's even worth the trip to Tauranga for it.

It certainly pays to shop around. We need a new oven, ours is dying and not worth fixing. Noel Leeming, even with the gold card discount is still nearly $500 dearer than Harvey Norman for the same thing. We could have Harvey Norman deliver it and still save money.

Coffeeis finished, washing machine is beeping, better move. *hums ....jump to the left...*

happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-04-2023

Morning everyone

Very still here.

Good news, no bad burns, but I put that down to being very quick. A good enough scalding to remind me to use a tea towel when I lift the lid. The Meeb cream takes all the burn out. Still tender with hot water tho of course. I must see if perhaps it needs tightening which might prevent water building up in there. And if I hold the lid flat it doesn't leak out lol.

Off to see the crew today, MrP first then the Girls.

I will evict the spiders later today, it was in my plans yesterday but my friend rang so that was over an hour chat lol.

One of the best things about the internet to me, is being able to "window shop" and compare prices from the comfort of your chair. Don't forget Price matching too Kiwimade. I did it with one of my cake mixers, Can't remember who it was, but it was between Harvey Norman, Briscoes and Noel Lemming cos they are all close Neighbours in Pukekohe.

Hope you are on the mend Mica, take things easy.

Lilith do what you want to do, dont feel that you "Have" to do it , if you think it will add pressure to yourself.

Have a fab day everyone
