RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 19-05-2023 (19-05-2023, 11:20 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: The wind is getting brisk after a lovely start to the day, so laundry is on the to do list. Catty is still happy with her unusual litter box and so am I. A quick scoop and stir in the morning beats the hell out of the usual performance. Though I was rather amused this morning early to wander out to the loo to find her sitting on it so I am wondering if she has ambitions, lol... One of mine gave me the shock of my life years ago. I'd just come in & knew no one else was home, so was rather shocked to hear someone peeing in the loo. Greatly daring, I tiptoed along the hall & sneaked a peek around the door of the loo - to find the resident cat using it! Things don't sound too good at the home, Popeye - you'd think they'd have had the sense to call the ambulance. Drizzling all day here so a very wet walk earlier, & can't do anything out there. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 20-05-2023 Morning everyone Its certainly bleak out there. Glad I have an indoors weekend planned. Baking this morning. Ill have to work around the pain cos I had a horrible night. But so long as I get a couple of batches done MrP will be happy. Yeah it is hard re Bobbie and Irene. They were toileting her frequently but as per normal it slipped back and she was being kept waiting. When Colleen and I were talking we brought up the idea of Irene using Pull ups. I really dont think she will want to try them, but it would help if she's not having to hold on for a long time. Im guessing MrK's Birthday will be held indoors. Have fun Kiwimade. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 20-05-2023 When my Mum went into dementia care they put her into adult diapers immediately, much to my horror. Their excuse was they didn't have the staff to be toileting on need. It was one of my first Totally Disgusted moments. I wonder if the general public knew these things are a regular feature of most rest home residents experience they would put up with it? Out of sight out of mind... RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 20-05-2023 Good morning. Rain overnight and more expected. At least didn't have to evacuate after receiving the phone CD warning due to the EQ north of NZ last evening! Happy birthday Mr KM ... I hope you have an enjoyable family day KM. I figured my mum was better in disposables than sitting or lying in shame in wet clothes and/or bedding ... another thing to look forward to in old age ... not I think it wise to mention Bobbie's 'plan' to staff Popeye. Lol at the sensible cat toileting Lilith ... the mind boggles! No plan for the day ... babysitting went well last night, another session tonight. Good to have plenty of knitting options during the wet weather days. Time for coffee and crackers. Have a good day all. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 20-05-2023 I can remember when my Mum arrived at the rest home - it was her choice to go there she wanted the company on tap and no way would she live with any of us - she reckoned she wanted to be her own boss anyway because she was 99 the rules said she had to wear disposables - she was hilarious but suffice to say she won and never wore them - even when she broke her leg she still managed to make it to the loo We bought an Abyssinian cat from Cambridge - went to pick him up - beautiful house beautifully groomed lady - cats everywhere - chatted away - she offered us a cup of tea - tea was made and just at the pouring stage - next thing a cat jumped up and peed in the sink - the look on my husbands face who was a cleaning freak was a picture - never drank our tea RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 20-05-2023 Im pleased I did tell them. But felt horrible doing it. But its cos I care that I did it. Id hate to think of her wandering the streets.. If she ends up in a secure unit I have no idea where they are. I think it will be more the daughter not wanting her mum to muse pulls ups somehow. She can be very stubborn. Baking done. The loaf is a bit brown on the top . Will ice the Afghans later. Yummy RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 20-05-2023 Hope the birthday goes well, KM. I think you did the right thing Popeye; imagine how awful you'd feel had she wandered away. At least now they know to keep an eye on her, & it maybe that she never does wander off. Miserable drizzle again, miserably wet walk earlier. I just posted a link to a book review over in the books section for anyone interested, found a new writer. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 20-05-2023 I am happy in my slothfulness, knitting a few more inches into my already excessively long scarf, and watching King of the Cross on Three Now. I love Ozzie gangland crime series, close to home but safely distanced. I did vac this morning, so not a total lazybones, but that wet dayitis doesn't inspire much effort beyond the cosy... Im going to re-introduce the vacc to the floor tomorrow.. Perfect day for sitting and not feeling pressured to get busy outside RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 20-05-2023 Yes good day to be indoors. Hope MrKM has a great birthday celebration with family KM Time got away on me as I started reading my book this morning then DD popped to collect the 2 quilts I had made for her. Spent this afternoon getting my sewing projects made into kits for my retreat next week. Then DH needed help scanning photos so jnow it is wine o'clock j with nice piece of blue cheese Keep dry RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 20-05-2023 Oh. Emmm. Gee. I forgot to do wine o'clock. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-05-2023 Morning everyone The sun is out but the wind is still trying to blow it away. Hunni that's a hard thing to forget.. Catch up again tonight lol. After sitting on my bar stool yesterday to roll biscuits etc I decided my recent loss of Butt Padding wasnt alot of fun on a cold metal stool. So while I have thought about folding up a towel and putting it in a pillow case to tie it on. But Then I was thinking it might end up bunched up. So Im going to duck up to the recycle center and see if they have any foam rubber. They sometimes do. I must measure before I go too. And as I dont have anything else on my agenda today, if I manage to get the foam I will do that. I plan on putting ties on all for corners to help it stay in place. I want to spray the edges but need things to dry up a bit so it will have to wait. Hope you are having fun with the family Kiwimade. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 21-05-2023 Mo4ning all Another damp day but the wind has died down bit of a storm last night glad I was tucked up in bed. Resting after a flurry 9f housework, tidy up activity, just got to battle with fitted sheets to fold them up and pu that bed set in pillowcase to store for next bed change. Not sure what I will get up to this afternoon probably more sewing kits KM hope you are having an enjoyable time with your family Enjoy the day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-05-2023 morning ladies Woahhh that was a full on few days lol. Wet, wild and windy so everything was indoors. It was a good call to make earlier in the week. MrK enjoyed his day and that's what it was all about. I've stripped the beds hoping for some respite from the weather, some of the smaller stuff is dry already. Family have left as they have at least a four hour drive home and better to do it now and have the time to be organised again when home for the kid's school tomorrow. The Furry One is sulking as he is missing the grandkids already lol. Our grandson adores him and I suspect the feeling is mutual. Time for a cuppa, I'm knackered RE: You can never have enough... - Venetian1 - 21-05-2023 Belated birthday greetings Mr KM - so good that the “party” went well with all your hard work KM. OHH I thinks the cats here are different to the ones up north. I threw a lot of mandarin peel under my feijoa tree hoping to deter the daily visits but still little piles amongst the leaves. Then this am managed to walk in a pile on the lawn right beside a fully fruiting lemon tree - yuk Not sure why if there is one lot on the whole section I manage to step in it RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-05-2023 You need something prickly to punch them in the arse Venetian! Little buggers... RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 21-05-2023 Venetian my neighbour would feel your pain - we have a huge ginger cat living a few doors down - very handsome boy - he used to wander along to my next door neighbours front garden which she gardens beautifully with annuals - I loved it as it was outside my kitchen window she plants all the old varieties - anyway this damn cat visited everyday and left behind huge piles - so one day after she planted out pansies she decided to put sticks all over the garden and zig zag string between them - thought it might just break his daily habitual use of that particular spot - about an hour after she finished her masterpiece there he was - he had stepped between the string and was awkwardly pooping on her pansies - she gave up and covered the garden with river stones - looks awful RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-05-2023 morning ladies Another wet day for us by the looks of it arrrggg cats and their pooping in the garden. Our issue is the Furry One but it's pretty obvious where he 'goes' and easy enough to clean up. Our butterfly chrysalis' are still green and we are wondering if the caterpillars have left it too late to change. We can only wait and see. The grandkids were out checking them over the weekend The house is very quiet with them all gone but we'll see them again in September for our granddaughter's 10th birthday. We just have to think what she would like lol. When I asked her she said, nana, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise which is lovely but not helpful lol. Our grandson lost his first tooth while here and was devastated that he swallowed it. He was so worried the tooth fairy wouldn't know. So, we explained I had special links to the tooth fairy as Nana used to work in the dental clinic. Not a fib, we do have special links to the tooth fairy - she's our daughter lol. I suggested he write to the tooth fairy and explain, which he did. The tooth fairy wrote back and left two 50c pieces as we had all run out of gold coins. But our granddaughter suggested he received two coins to make up for the lost tooth. Learning the value of coins is a strange concept for kids to learn. Today I'm taking our friend to his hospital appointment and of course the weather isn't playing nice. It will be a slow trip. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-05-2023 Morning everyone Wet here but it looks like the wind may have calmed down. Ohh I think your explanation re the Tooth fairy was an excellent one Kiwimade. Im sure your GS was still happy. I remember my sisters youngest being so happy about getting 20 cents from the Tooth fairy he took it outside and was throwing in the air, and oops it landed on the roof. He had to wait for his dad to come home to get it down. Mind you he was a climber and would have tried it for sure lol.. But we managed to prevent that lol. Off to take a car load to MrP this morning.. I hope it dries up for me to get the stuff out of the car. Cos its a big load today and Im on the walker. I was losing my croc last night when I took the rubbish down to the road, so tapped my toes on the driveway. Which resulted in horrible pain across the bottom of my knee. At 4am I didn't think I would be going anywhere. But its a little better. I dont take big pain meds when Im driving so that's not an option. Got myself a nice thick cushion at the recycle center. The front is wool, like the blankets. I've cut out a cover which I will just lay over the cushion then tie with straps that I have cut out, to each leg. $1 for the cushion and some of a 50 cent remnant. While there tho I found the smallest bowl to my wonderleir vintage bowl set. I got two bases and one lid. I was sooo happy. So depending on the knee I hope to stop into the oppy on the way home and look through their box of lids. I nearly died at the prices of the vintage sets online. These are on Amazon. I still need the green one. https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Tupperware-RARE-30th-Anniversary/dp/B00M0ET9UQ. I also found a nice lacy cardy pattern with half sleeves. Done in 4ply. So my plans for a garage sale has become more important cos I want ton do it in Merino. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 22-05-2023 Morning all Dampish expecting more rain later Good find Popeye. Love toothe fairy explanation KM, I remember DD carefully putting her first tooth in glass water on kitchen windowsill, DH being the tidy up bunny that he is tipped it down the sink I returned home to the wailing. The tooth fairy did come and DH learnt to look in glasses of water before he tipped them Back from gym, next shower and then run some errands. Got another kit sorted yesterday and trace off a new pant pattern I will kit that up this afternoon and call it done. Enjoy your day |
