I wouldn't be so annoyed if the damned woman had paid up, but she hasn't yet. She's talking about getting an uber to pick the things up... Never heard that one before. Silly moo. I shall get stroppy if it isn't sorted today.

Meanwhile the sun is out and new cat litter has arrived, so that makes two happy people in this house, lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-06-2023

Well I hope she's having the Uber driver deliver it so someone in Auckland as it will cost her a fortune to have it delivered to Palmy Tongue

Sunshine here as well ... yay! Some welcome drying out underfoot might happen.

Thanks for the heads up KM ... yes we are aware ... DH is actually doing 2 days there in his Work's site ... good luck to him, lol. I shall steer clear.

I see there are 6 guests visiting this thread ... yesterday when I had a look in .. 58 .. join in people  Smile

A library book to return and the veg garden could do with a weed and dig over.

How annoying OHH ... I hope it can be resolved via TM help.

Time to move ... washing out first off.

Enjoy the day all.

58 seems like a hell of a lot of guests; you're right Roma, they should join in. Don't be shy, we don't bite.

I sometimes join in when I have something relevant to add, but mostly I don't because I understand the thread to be about crafting, which I don't do.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-06-2023

I think threads like these become a kind of domestic nonfiction novel and are fascinating because they are instantly relatable. We all have mini dramas, we need to vent occasionally, share victories, tell tales on ourselves and generally have a wee gossip among friends. Myevery day includes a few minutes spent round this table, sipping a cuppa and grinning at the latest posts, or frowning - as the case may be. We are staving off dementia by adding this regular bit of socialising to our lives, so if in doing so we spread the love to a few lurking regulars they're welcome...

And welcome to join us as well.

It sort of evolved! Homecrafting... We are building a little domestic community!  Big Grin

I think its become more about what everyone's doing each day now, with perhaps the odd bits about crafts of various sorts sprinkled here & there as they happen. Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 07-06-2023

I agree, this is just a friendly group to have a chat about whatever may or may not be going on in your life. Along the way we learn a few things and sometimes can even offer a few tips/advice  Smile

Oh well, I'm not very good at any home crafts, unless you count cooking. I will keep an eye open for food remarks!

I like how this thread has evolved over time Smile Just because the thread is about crafting and you don't craft, doesn't mean you don't have anything to add to the conversation Smile

It's been a gorgeous, warm day here and the lawn is all mowed. What a mission that was. Wet, gluggy lawn clippings are not ideal. But hopefully with a few fine days, the lawn and garden can dry out a bit.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-06-2023

Nextdoor has free range chooks. They freely range in my garden. They have got so used to me marching up to them and telling them off (complete with finger wagging) that I can now scoop them up and carry them back to the fence for chucking over. Tuk tuk tuk tuk...

I am adding Chicken Wrangler to my CV.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-06-2023

Sometimes I think Oh you will all get sick of my moaning. But once its out I kind of dont think about it as much.

I enjoy my Adult company in here. I certainly dont get anything from MrP etc. lol.

I love seeing what everyone is getting up to. And we have a creative, knowledgeable group of Gals in here.

It has been a beautiful day today. And Im actually quite warm at the mo.

I looked at the lawn and knew it would be a totally mental idea to go out and do some. Cos the side and back slope off and when wet its simply dangerous.

I Miss having chooks. they get quite chatty once they know you. I hope you get the occasional egg for the food they are pilfering Hunni.

I made French toast for my tea and was totally frivolous and used two eggs lol I prefer it more eggy than Milky lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 07-06-2023

And that's another good reason for the thread Popeye, allowing us all to vent now & then when needed. Smile

Morning all
Nippy and still dark I am snuggled up in bed with k9s either side of me better than hottie Cool will have to move soon.

This is a great group  hate to think what we would get up to if we met up in real life  Big Grin

Went to mall yesterday as pants in DH new smaller size had arrived. They were a nice fit so he got those. I had planted the seed last week that he needed new undies so off to Farmers. He loves a bargin 40% off he was a happy camper as was I no more tired looking undies to hang on the line.

I sewed seams on my boiled wool vest and attached the striped binding  even started hand stitching the binding so will do more of that this afternoon. The Swiss darning of zebra head on knitted vest for DGD1 is progressing slowly.

My volunteer day will need to wrap up well to keep warm might have to break out the sheepy lined boots

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-06-2023

Morning everyone

I think it would be fun Mica. And what instantly popped into my head was the group in Hastings? I think who were playing "Hockey" on their mobility scooters in the park. So much fun a little danger but a lot of laughs.

Bloods and shopping today. Taking Bobbie to the supermarket for her face creams etc. I dont "need" to go to Pukekohe, but its still a possibility , maybe lol.. I would just buy more, so maybe I should stay here lol.

Bones are back to normal. Yay. Slept really well so Im pleased about that. Actually if I stay in town Ill be able to get the back of the lawn done in a day or two with all this fine weather coming.

Might get some crochet done today. I missed it yesterday.. Yay.

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-06-2023

morning ladies Smile Another gorgeous winters day on the cards Smile

We had a chook we called Slapper Tongue She was given to us as she was a bossy madam and wouldn't let the other chooks into the hen house. We had our black labby then and she bossed her around lol. Even the two cats we had at the time left her alone. She would waltz in through the back door, march through the house to the front door to get to the garden rather than walk around the house. One day we found her inside sitting on top of our labby who was sprawled out on the floor. One evening around 9.00pm, we heard a quiet bruuuukkkk bruuuukkkk brukkkk and found her snuggling down behind the TV. She even laid an egg there lol. We 'lost' her for a month and thought we had lost her for good but nope, she had gone cluckky and was nesting. When we found her, she was sitting on 31 eggs lol. Her little legs were splayed out like she was riding a horse. She was a real character Heart and definitely preferred to be on her own. She was no match for the hedgehog attack though Sad while she was nesting and we had to have her PTS
Sad

Today I'm going to start prunning the roses, I know it's early but I've already prunned three so I could work around them or move them. Might as well make the most of the fine days and do more.

Later I'll work a bit more on my thrush. I'm working on his throat and down his front. So far so good Big Grin

happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-06-2023

Decades back I rescued a battery chook from the middle of the Control Gates bridge in Taupo and she came home as a pet until I found an egg in our bed! Then she went down to the barn with the flock of birds we had for egg production and ruled the roost there. She was the one who taught me how to pick up a bird and carry it so it stayed calm and happy. Nice to know I haven't lost the touch...

RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 08-06-2023

My old boy had a thing about chooks going way back - he was 15 years younger than his siblings and they lived very rurally so his Mum tells me his bantam hens occupied a lot of his time .He brought a pukeko egg back from the river and stuck it under one of his broody bantams .It hatched and of course its size became a problem it would stand up and topple his little hen over .The pukeko lived seven years but was stung by a wasp
When we had the orchard he decided to answer an SOS and get some rescue chooks to free range - they were in a terrible condition hardly any feathers - but he spent hours with them and they soon blossomed would follow him everywhere - people coming into the orchard used to laugh two Rottweiler one staffi and twenty chooks following him around - but they decided they needed to come inside the house so unfortunately they had to be rehomed .He would come inside and shut the door and they would be put on the back step clucking around and making a hell of a mess so it was either them or me !

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-06-2023

lol sounds like we have fond memories of chooks Heart

Boy that south westerly has a bite to it. MrK helped me (OK, more like me helping him lol) put the wire up along the last bit of the back fence for the new roses that will be arriving shortly. He's getting back into bonsai and spotted a bonsai rose on You Tube and wants to have a go. He wants to come with me when I pick the roses up so he can choose from the miniature range to bonsai. The flowers stay the same size with roses unlike other plants. He also wants an azalea and was eyeing up one I have in the garden...

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 08-06-2023

Freezing again, lawn too wet to attack yet so had another bash at That Bloody Hedge & got a bit done then came in to make a coffee. Ha! Nope, handle fell off the damn thing so went to glue it back on again (third time) only to find I'd used all the glue & hadn't got more.

Managed anyway using a hand towel to wrap around the hot coffee maker but will need to get more glue & another coffee maker since it seems the wretched handle is likely to continue falling off every so often.
I've had enough of winter already.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-06-2023

I have to raise my hand and say I haven't been nice to two roosters in the past.

Im afraid I dont take things kindly when I have the claws of two feet flying directly at my shins. One got the tomahawk and they other a very quick ending with a sheep crook. And neither got eaten , which these days would be shocking. But then there were kids around, they had to be stopped.

Went to get Bobbie and she was having a lay down on her bed. So she got changed and I made her wrap up warm. I showed her where I lived, where she used to live and took her shopping. She has no memory of the new supermarket, yet it is where she would have shopped. Took her into the Smellies isle as I call it and made sure she had a nice cleanser, day and night cream, toothpaste, deodorant and shampoo. Then I took her through the self service, which she thought was clever lol. Spent $38 but more importantly saved her just over $20. The Scottish and Dutch is in me too lol.

On my way to her, the Boss at where MrP is rang. He has been told off, and is on a short leash, including being told if his behavior doesn't improve he will be kicked out or they will get the police. By the time I was done with Bobbie and the girls I had calmed down. I knew reading him the riot act wouldn't help things.

So I went in and sat on his bed, he snapped what? I said That.! Told him off.. Told him to draw a line under it and forget it. But I also told him he had to apologise to the Boss.. And I told him if he wants to come home to see Madam then he will have to get off his butt and start walking again. He said I need help. I said well ask for it.. So I asked for the manager to come in which she did. He apologized,, Which is a First. I have never in nearly 35 years see him apologise to Anyone.

And he stopped.. and I said AND? and he said he needs help, he wants to walk.. but he knows he needs help to do it..

I have Never seen him apologise or ask for help.. Ever..!!! So now the ball is in his court. He knows its up to him.

I dont feel as smug as I thought I would. Im proud of myself for keeping calm and not blowing my stack at him. I didn't cry.. even when he said he knows he is wrapped in his mothers and my love when he has his green blanket around him, cos her money paid for it and I did the work.. I was close but didn't.

So its been a rather odd day, odd in a good way. And probably one I will always remember. lol
