RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 16-06-2023

morning ladies Smile There are some big black rain clouds overhead, am glad I'm not going to the Field Days lol. But it wouldn't be Field Days without some rain.

Today I'm taking our friend to his regular hospital appointment in Hamilton. We're leaving early to miss the traffic but there is hardly any on the road. I'm wondering if there is an accident somewhere.

Yesterday while we were working with our friend cutting the shrubs out and mulching, a plain police car pulled a driver over onto our road. After he had given the driver a lecture and a ticket, I thanked the officer, saying there is a lot of speeding on our road. He said, this guy was silly, to say the least. Then he spoke out of school and told me he had overtaken seven, yes seven! cars AND a truck on the blind corner just up from us. Roma, you will know the corner, it's the one the rugby club is on. As MrK pointed out, he would have had to break the 70kph speed limit to pass all those cars and truck. He is so lucky not to have killed anyone.

If the weather plays nice when I get home, I'll be wheelbarrowing much but otherwise, it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Happy crafting Smile

For years after Colin was killed I wanted the death penalty back for idiots like that. Them and drunk drivers. Shot by the side of the road and buried in the ditch with their vehicles bulldozered into place above them.

I have mellowed slightly over the decades since...

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 16-06-2023

Good morning.

It's cool again but not a frost (rare) like we had yesterday.  Clouding over as well.

Yes KM, know that road well.  Terrible that our lives are on the line every time we get out there ... and that's not from our own driving. DH left again early for another workday at the Fieldays, perhaps it was a faster trip this time. A great feeling to have all that mulch scattered around.  We will add another layer of compost to our raised vege gardens again ... it made a huge difference last year.

A few things to do out this morning including groceries so had better down my cuppa and get cracking.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 16-06-2023

Morning everyone

Overcast here too.

OMG what a pillock Kiwimade. A lot of locals here are b*tching cos we now have speed cameras on two of the main roads from town. Good I say. They go on about it being revenue grabbing. But if your not speeding you wont lose your money. No personal responsibility.

Hunni I quite agree. Slightly different but when the B*atard who let the truck run into my sisters house was let out of prison I know it was hard for family in the area, the guy couldn't drive of course so was often seen hitchhiking, and family and friends could have quite happily swerved to end his days. My Brother especially. I have this fear that he was a guy I went to school with. But decided years ago not to find out.

Busy morning for me, bloods, fridgeless shopping, my Ultrasound, then the cold shopping.

I didn't have a good day yesterday. The mental health guy saw MrP and I told him about Bobbie. I have an uneven balance of scales, when it comes to doing that. Its for her own good, she needs to be safe and watched. But the closest place is too far for me to visit, I have a lot of guilt. But its also cos I want her safe too.

I realised this morning, even tho Im struggling with the cold, lose clothes and shoes, I can be thankful I'm not carrying that 53 kilos on my worsening knee.. I just need to remind myself of that when Im having my own pity party.

Better get moving. Have a fab day everyone

When I got my license, the policeman said to me, something I will Never forget... Congratulations. You are now Licensed to drive a Lethal Weapon.

I think of that every time I get into a car.

I wish more would think about that, and stop being selfish Temporary New Zealanders.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-06-2023

morning ladies Smile It's calm and overcast but no rain for the Field Days. Big Grin Gosh, they were lucky this year weatherwise.

Yesterday I took our friend to his hospital appointment and the road was pretty good considering all the traffic. But OMG the queue to take the Tamahere off ramp coming from Auckland, was massive. It would have taken ages to get there. There were plenty of park and ride facilities, heaven knows why they didn't use that.

Today it's the final push to move the mulch. I started again yesterday afternoon, but my sister rocked up for a coffee. So that was the end of that effort for the day. She has a DNA kit ready to send off, it will be interesting to see what her DNA is as it will be completely different to mine seeing as I'm adopted. We can't even compare notes when hers comes back lol. Yesterday was also Mum's anniversary, can't believe it has been 13 years.

Time to get cracking, if I move now, I should be able to finish this mulching by lunchtime.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning all

Wet here, chilly but not raw like yesterday.

To say I would NOT like a repeat of yesterday pretty much sums up the day. The good was that my blood didn't run from the INR lol.. Got everything I needed shopping wise.

And I had my scan and out 30 minutes Before my appointment lol.. But ohh a bad shoulder isn't meant to bend like that and have a machine pressing in hard. He kept asking was it ok.. I kept saying no But carry on. No sense doing half a job lol.
Popped into Pak n save then came back. Driving with a horrible arm wasn't fun. Dropped in to MrP dropped his Lollie's on the bed, said Im not stopping I cant.
I knew if I did I would seize up and never get home. And when I rang later he understood. But its done now. The guy did say the results might have been back last night, but I dont expect to hear anything until next week. Its not soo bad this morning thank goodness.

Had to laugh at the story about the shorts wearing farmers etc at the field days last night. My cousin is the same, shorts all year around. And he used to put a hat on inside but take it off outside. Did it from a young age lol.

Have some bigger dishes to do , the washing is on and Ill measure up for another steamed pudding later. Will probably get cooked today.

Oh if you are after eggs, the warehouse has them for $6 a doz for size 6, $7 for size 7 and 2 liter's of Milk for $3. Join the market club cos sometimes it asks you to scan your number, other times it doesn't.

Have a fab day all

LOVE the Zebra, brilliant Mica! Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Venetian1 - 17-06-2023

Mica that Vest is lovely - what a lot of work in it.  I haven’t done any Swiss darning as tend to stick to intarsia or fair isle but intarsia is not really possible when knitting in the round so now you have enthused me to try this.

Several years ago I knitted a jersey with a giraffe on for nephew who lives in Venice. I didn’t realise that the giraffe is the mascot for an island in the Venetian lagoon which the locals are trying to save and his father is very involved with.  Apparently at some stage in the past a giraffe was given to a Duke and he kept it on the little island of Poveglia.  I don’t think it lasted there very long though.

RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 17-06-2023

Horrible day here today am thankful my veggies are covered
That zebra vest is as my new grandson would say is “epic” - a young mum I worked with years ago arrived at work with a parcel of wool and a Thomas the tank engine pattern for her toddler - I didn’t like to say no but warned her she wouldn’t be able to throw it in the washing machine - against my better judgement I did it - the train and the carriages went right around so it was a lot of work - he wore it once poured ribena down his front so the jersey got soaked then thrown in the washing machine ended up teddy bear size so she brought it to work and asked me to fix it!

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-06-2023

I still have the teddy bear sweater my Mum knitted for my daughter when she was two. I resorted to Fassett patterns to keep up my end of the competition, but the bear was far more loved by the wearer...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-06-2023

morning ladies Smile That's the mulch all done. As I was emptying the wheelbarrow, I was keeping count of the loads and also the amount I was putting into it. Did the maths, and I've moved 2.8 cubic meters of mulch Big Grin Big Grin And it still didn't cover all the garden lol. But it's good to have it done before the worst of the weather moves in later today. The kids across the road were standing at their window cheering me on lol. They are only little Heart

Jan, I would have been extremely pi**ed off if that had happened to me after all that work. I hope you told her to take a hike.

Kettle has boiled, it's time for a well earned cuppa. MrK has the crockpot on for dinner. We make a good team Heart

Happy crafting Smile

Looks great, but was it intentionally political?
The right sleeve is a trifle shorter than the left sleeve, a significant left wing bias. Demand a poll!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-06-2023

Morning everyone

I Just Made my Own Day... !!!!!

I've been watching a bulk lot of retro Tupperware. Which contains one square round that I needed for my collection, but also has a couple of the old salt and pepper shakers, and some midgets that I haven't planned on having in the collection but they work. I broke my own rule and spent ahead. But $7 isn't too much of a biggie. Just means no fish and chips next week. And that's something Im very willing to skip.

And Ill make money back on the excess that I dont need for my collection. Hopefully I can pick up today, they are only about 15-20 minutes away.. But even better would be if they come to Waiuku. Will see what they reply with..

WOOHOOO...lol

AND the weight is moving again, 54 kilos off now Yippee. lol.

Had a busy day yesterday, even tho I didn't feel great. Put two loads of washing away, washed two more. Emptied the dishwasher and did another load. Put the recycles in the bin to take down today. Cooked creamed rice in the crockpot. Added some sultanas, looks disgusting in colour but tastes soo good. Made fudge, to stretch my chocolate and Made another steamed pudding. And fitted in a 1.5 hour chat with my friend in Taranaki..

Nurse Missy looked after me this morning. When I woke up I could barely move my right leg, so she walked up, pulled the bedding off my chest and promptly sat herself down in the crook of my arm and we went back to sleep. Woke up at 9-20.... I very seldom sleep so late, but cuddling with my girl did that .

Kiwimade I think you have well earnt yourself a rest from the garden while the rain works for you. Its sunny here, after a dull grey day yesterday.

Have a fab day all.. I know I am cos even a grumpy MrP couldn't drag me down today.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-06-2023

Lovely, popeye, and good for you picking up speedily. I am still grumpy over still waiting for the Bristolite pretties to be collected. Heavy sigh, lots of muttering.

But I watched Q&A this morning, and what an inspiring set of stories. Well worth catching up with it if you didn't see it. A lovely counterpoint to the wet and whingy comment by YKW.

Hate it when trades Drag on. You just want to scream at them to read the instructions before they bid.

Very happy with my purchase. Unfortunately the white one wasn't the one I was looking for. BUT I now have the midgets and the slightly larger but shallower sandwich keepers that match colourwise.

Missy has cat scanned it all and I will give it a quick wash later as its been in storage then Ill play around with my display
