RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-06-2023 Morning all Another overcast day We enjoyed our coffee up the line met up with friends who live near there and ended up at theirs for lunch so a social day yesterday.. Measured DGD2 and started a totally different cardi pattern for her last night while at knit group. Today hope to sew 24 blocks together to complete the I spy quilt top. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-06-2023 The car is Mine now.. Phew... But I still dont really care for it lol RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-06-2023 I have a recently widowed non driving friend whose late husband had just bought a new car. The hurdles she has to go through to get the beast sorted are extraordinary, so meantime she has long standing friends who are going to adopt it, use it, and act as her chauffeurs when she needs them. It is amazing what a relief of stress that simple agreement has brought with it. Ooh - that does look handy - even I couldn't muck up putting in a screw with that, surely. Not my favourite day but luckily the rain came last night rather than this morning so I was able to do a bit more on That Bloody Hedge once the bin was emptied. No power isn't fun & we have another day of it tomorrow so hoping for no rain. No computer & music for most of the day didn't make for a happy camper & Madame Le Dog was unsurprisingly quite confused but I did get quite a bit of reading done. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-06-2023 I empathise. My tablet refuses to charge and my other two devices are outdated and have issues, whinge whinge moan moan. And next week I have to do battle setting up a new modem for electric kiwi - double whinge whinge, lol. So I brought ten books home from the library, including Poems by Iain Banks and Ken Mcleod. Who knew the genius could do pomes as well as all the other stuff? Must be those Scottish genes... Oh - that does not sound like fun times ahead for you; I'm so grateful to have a techie/Sweetie darling no.2 because I'm such a technoklutz. And yes, must be those Scots genes; I enjoyed the short stories by George Mackay Brown (from Orkney) & only recently read that he also wrote poetry so might look out for that. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-06-2023 morning ladies It's going to rain again today by the looks of it. I read on Stuff Napier had a black out thanks to a cat touching the lines. Poor puss, not a nice thing to happen. My friend in the States phoned early this morning so I'm going to call back later at a more respectable time for me lol. Thank goodness for these free phone apps, it will cost nothing to phone. Our laptop is so old it won't do the updates, OHH, so another thing that will be eventually replaced. The keys are sticking and there are a few other small issues as well. It is well over 10 years old and used daily so can't complain. But we have other priorities at the moment so it can wait. As for new WiFi connections, it's pretty much plug and play now. I did a bit of sewing yesterday but need some neutral or 'invisible' thread to finish the placemats. I'll pin everything together ready for sewing today. At least that will give me a 'head start'. Time to move and get cracking. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-06-2023 Morning everyone Another wet start to the day.. but Today I will make sure I wear something warmer. I froze last Thursday. Having to use the aircon to clean the windscreen makes the hands like ice-blocks lol I might look at one of the long sleeved straight dresses I got for winter last year. Really Funny that Kens Wife has the same two that I have lol. That poor cat in Napier, I wont tell you what I said to Missy, but it was mean... Must have been agile to get in or on to what ever killed him. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 29-06-2023 Morning all Nippy start up the sun is shining so expecting a nice day Poor puss Finished I spy quilt it is huge probably too big so need to ruminate on a solution which will involve e some deconstruction Volunteer day today it will be like a fridge so puffer coat scarf and gloves required. Not sure what I will do this afternoon cant face quilt just yet it needs more time in timeout Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 29-06-2023 Good morning. Sun is shining after some showers earlier. DIL and 7mo GD flew to their new life early this morning ... joining son already down there for settlement of the house yesterday. Not completely quiet yet with 3.5yo GD here until she goes to kindy later. Won't be overly energetic today after the early start ... will get to the cardi later. Lol Mica, I recognise the feeling of putting a project into time-out while you think about it The cat must have been "located" to know it wasn't a possum ... poor cat. Some kiwi 33 million richer today ... such a shame that kind of tally can't be split. What a sum to "deal with"! GD has a book ready for reading ... I get the hint. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-06-2023 Isn't it annoying when a project we spent hours on insists on behaving badly? I have two handknitted scarves like that. the edges keep rolling on me, only those two out of many do it, and it makes me almost cross enough to consider ripping them both down. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-06-2023 OHH, do you slip the first stitch on each row? This could help with the curling and gives a nice straight edge. arrggg mica, I know the feeling of putting sewing into timeout. Sewing machine has been put away and sewing table and sewing stuff (omg there's loads of it lol) also put away. I need some neutral/invisible thread to quilt the placemats and can't get that until at least next week. MrK has just read out from our local paper that Trade Zone is coming to town - now that will give our local Mitre 10 a kick in the butt. There's a lot of stuff we wouldn't buy from them but then there are also bits and bobs that are very competitively priced we could use. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 29-06-2023 Good afternoon - no rain but great kite flying day - we were lucky in our street our power stayed on - Robie has just had a new generator put in so it was tested successfully last night . I love the look of Tunisian crochet but everything I made just kept curling up - heaps of info on Youtube to solve the problem but nothing worked for me My bok choy is prolific so just swapped some on our Facebook swapping page for a box of baking - the irony wasn’t lost - the baker was thin as a rake and me giving the healthy stuff away struggle to do my shoelaces up I made a bit of a fool of myself with my new IPad - second day I had it wouldn’t charge - so marched back into the shop where I had already complained about the price - felt a right idiot I didn’t bother to take the new charger out of the box and my old charger was faulty - won’t go back there for a while I bought some gardening stuff from Temu that I would normally buy from Mitre 10 - it arrived in 10 days I am sure the ties are the same as Mitre 10 - I have a credit card with a very small limit on it not linked in anyway to my bank and I use it through PayPal so I felt relatively safe RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-06-2023 Yes I do km, but these yarns were new to me and being a tight knitter I suspect it is a combination effect. I shall go back to the yarns I cannot afford, lol... Temu is certainly advertising everywhere. If I do a search for anything at all, up it comes... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-06-2023 I've heard that Temu gathers info etc. from your phone. I've only looked on my phone. What annoys me is the $30 minimum spend. Ill just save my money instead lol. But Ohh some very yummy T-shirts on there I know MrP would love. Well its happened, and I knew it would come. The Good knee is Blardy horrible. Thank goodness Im seeing the Dr in the morning. I can walk so long as I drag it. Lifting it up hurts like heck. I washed the stand for the salt and pepper shakers.. All it needed was a good soak in hot soapy water. So Im really wrapped .. My Bowls are due to arrive tomorrow. And than that's it apart from the squares I need. Arthur has departed from the home, Im not sure if its to go home for a night or if its to go back to hospital.. But I know MrP and Ken will have a peaceful night lol. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-06-2023 Good morning everyone Yep up early. Something woke both of us about 5-45am. The knee is still really narly. So no matter what is going to happen today , it will be done slowly. lol. My plan is to possibly get fish and chips on the way home, but as I have several things to do it will be dependent on the pain. Otherwise Ill have fish cakes later. That will sooth the fix lol. Gosh France is at it again. I understand why they are doing it, but well to coin a phrase I dont really care for "Really"? what do they hope to achieve.? There's far better ways of fixing the problem.. Don't drive away when the cops have pulled you over.. This is my black and white way. Personal responsibility. Had he stopped he would probably be alive and well. Perhaps arrested, but he would be alive. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-06-2023 morning ladies Another wet day only colder today. I tend to disagree, popeye. He was only 17 and we all know how unpredictable some teens can be. The police were the adults here and should have been able to deal with the situation without shooting point blank at him. If they had to shoot, why not his tyres to stop him. The rioting is a worry though. I think people are looking for excuses to become violent. Housework for me today, our grandson arrives for a week tomorrow which means the baking tins need filling as well. I have butter defrosting on the bench ready to use this afternoon. I might be able to squeeze in some embroidery later too. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-06-2023 We forget sometimes that even coppers are human beings and subject to the same stresses and frustrations everyone else has - including the people they are tasked with keeping civil and safe. Some of whom are right idiots. It is always a tragedy when things go pear shaped. Read the article on Stuff from the Selwyn Trust about how aging is a challenge the community needs to address. One thing Selwyn could do is actually put some older people on its board instead of socialites and academics, they might show them how to empower those they focus on rather than disempower them with their paternalistic attitudes. Never mind, at least they are trying... (30-06-2023, 07:52 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies Another wet day only colder today. Have you come across a woman who is online as Moss & Floss? She became fascinated by butterflies and because she couldn't afford to become a collector of specimens she decided to embroider herself a collection instead. And now has a wall full of glorious framed examples of the worlds flutterbyes... I thought of you when she popped up on my Instagram page... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-06-2023 No, I haven't heard of her, OHH but I'll certainly look her up. She sounds interesting and I'd love to see her work. Choc chip bikkies are in the oven. I made a batch of hokey pokey biscuits the other day and MrK asked where the choc chips were lol. I suspect choc chip is his favourite lol. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 30-06-2023 Have you read the piece on Stuff about the 10year old dog that decided to do two laps of the Harbour bridge and held up the trains in Sydney - what a brilliant story |
