RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-07-2023 Morning everyone We have the sun too.. But still getting enough showers to keep the grass too wet to mow. I like Pax, especially when he did the Bake Off. And We have both always like Nikkie. She used to do a segment on Good Morning Years ago. But Im not watching it. While I like birds etc, Im not into bugs enough. And they creep me out lol So I get my Crime fix while that is on lol. Achy today so I plan on Popping into the sewing room, will set up the ironing board again and make a start on the aprons. I think sewing is always more enjoyable when you love the fabric. Just making half pinnies, I didn't have enough fabric to put a pocket on them. But if I decide they need them I could go with red for sure. Did anyone see the story on breakfast about the Water Cremations? Very interesting. You are sealed in a tank with mainly water and an acid I think she said. It basically dissolves you, not the bones or implants, the latter being usable again. There is one being set up in CHCH... Far better for the air and the bones can be crushed and scattered or put in the cemetery. Totally green, will be interesting to see what the cost is, but it will help with the Climate change for sure. A nick name has already started calling it "boil in a bag" lol Right will get through FB and then vanish into the sewing room.. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 11-07-2023 Reuse implants? Not in this country according to my orthopedic surgeon. Metal waste to be melted down then reused maybe, that might allow for total cleaning. I asked when they removed some of my metal bits because I was interested in how they would disinfect them in that instance, apparently it is safer to share blood, bones and organs than implants! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-07-2023 I would agree with that, OHH. One of my jobs in the dental clinic was to clean the instruments and put them through the autoclave. If even a skerrick of tooth was left on the instruments and autoclaved, it had to be done again. The reasoning behind it was yes, the whole piece was sterilised, BUT when that piece of tooth fell off the instrument, the bit underneath wasn't. Beside the fact it would be pretty gross at the thought of using an instrument that had someone else's bit of tooth on it. I would imagine the same principle would apply for body inserts. They would be near impossible to clean and sterilise. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-07-2023 Yeah I would imagine that the parts would or could be melted down again. It was interesting tho. And Very green which I like for sure. Have got the parts overlocked and hemmed. Now I have to gather the tops to put the waistband and straps on ... MrP was in a good mood.. Makes for a nicer day for sure. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 11-07-2023 Not a happy day for the feline & canine family then Mica. Not sure I'd be keen on the boil in the bay cremation idea; think I'll stick to the fiery one. Yes, Pax is hilarious, have seen him in a couple of things - he's one of those people who make you smile when you see him because you know he's so funny. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 11-07-2023 (11-07-2023, 03:25 PM)Lilith7 Wrote: Not a happy day for the feline & canine family then Mica. Lol the k9s enjoyed their vet visit I suspect the tasty treats were a driver. The feline has forgiven me for shoving her into a cage so we are all good Sewed up the swim cover up this afternoon looks cute. I wonder how the acidic slurry= hazardous substance will be disposed of Knitting group tonight RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-07-2023 (11-07-2023, 05:44 PM)Mica Wrote:(11-07-2023, 03:25 PM)Lilith7 Wrote: Not a happy day for the feline & canine family then Mica. Its an alkaline mixture and can co into the ground. Quite amazing really. And it cannot identify you in any way, not even DNA. Green. org has some info. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-07-2023 Morning everyone Yep up early, the garage is picking up the car to do the warrant, so I figured I should at least have it out of the garage. So today is a hate day... Im just going to try and ignore it lol. Sat last night and hand stitched the aprons for the gathering, I do enjoy hand sewing at times, so I will hopefully get them finished later. I must also dig out any more trackies in MrP's room and take the elastic off the bottom. He struggles to get his feet through them, so it will make his life a little easier. Not sure if there any in there, but probably. 15 cents off Petrol at gull today and till noon tomorrow if you need to top up the tank. Ill get some tomorrow morning hopefully. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-07-2023 morning ladies It's not raining, so that's a good start to the day. lol mica, our cats and dogs can be quick to forgive if there are treats involved! It went through our minds too as to what is done with the liquid. I'll also stick to fire Good luck with the WoF, popeye. My throat is feeling better and MrK isn't spluttering quite so much so we are both on the mend. The lawn needs mowing, but the ground is so soggy it's going to be a real mission. A breeze would be nice to help dry it out. More hand quilting for me today and some baking. We missed having a sweet treat with our evening cuppa lol. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 12-07-2023 Good morning. No sun yet and feeling a bit cool. KM I saw this online re patchwork/quilting ... you may be interested https://www.sunlive.co.nz/news/322884-an-exhibition-of-beautiful-things-tauranga.html No plan for today. DH birthday tomorrow, so baking a cake could be a start. I saw the "water" method on TV. I guess cremation took a while to be accepted, so if the "water" way is environmentally acceptable and cost effective, it will become a thing. It certainly doesn't appeal to me .... yet! Time to get moving. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-07-2023 thanks roma, it may be a quick trip over the hill soon! And yes, the ladies are so right about the benefits of quilting, although I think it could be applied to any craft that you are completely absorbed in. Even while gardening I solve the world's problems lol. I have mowed the front lawn and noticed the lawn is starting to yellow and am wondering if it's because of all the rain. We have tons of worms to work the ground under the lawn - you only have to put the spade into it to see them and the blackbirds and other birds are always on the prowl for them. We'll have to give the lawn a good feed in spring. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-07-2023 Car has passed.. Phew.. Had a blown bulb, which must have happened recently cos I always check them, but otyherwise all ok. Now I wait for the bill. MrP was happily toddling off to the lounge as some animals were going in. I hope he has fun. Had a heavy shower of rain Mid morning dammit... Aprons are sewn, and I took the elastic off some trackies, and found MrPs train whistle, so he will be happy with that. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-07-2023 Well that was an interesting phone call. Apparently my knee was put on the list on March 1st As Priority 1.. as in Urgent one. The lady I was talking to was worried I hadn't heard from them, and was emailing them to give me a call. I dont recall getting a letter either so this will be interesting to see how quickly I hear from them RE: You can never have enough... - R2x1 - 12-07-2023 Sounds excellent . . . RE: You can never have enough... - Kenj - 12-07-2023 Tell them you have Kneemonia as well. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-07-2023 I went on Jan 23rd, but did get an apology letter, lol. Maybe your's is in the mail. At the pre admit clinic the lovely man said if I hadn't heard from them in two months to start being a squeaky wheel... I felt like asking if a sweary one would be more effective? RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-07-2023 (12-07-2023, 02:20 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: I went on Jan 23rd, but did get an apology letter, lol. Maybe your's is in the mail. At the pre admit clinic the lovely man said if I hadn't heard from them in two months to start being a squeaky wheel... Oddly I was told on Feb 23rd that I needed it, but not put on the list till March 1st.. and it was urgent. lol Im far to patient me thinks lol Still waiting.... which is annoying cos I have two other calls I want to make and both will be longish. And there is something in the air cos My sinuses are having a right hissy on me. havent been this bad in ages.. argghhh...!!!!!! RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 12-07-2023 Good news the car passed Popeye one less thing thing to worry about; hope they can sort your knee quickly. Raining again dammit so no chance of getting lawn done today. I was going to do it first thing but ran out of time. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-07-2023 Monkey weather today. But I had an interesting conversation with mini me in Perth. Apparently they have been adopted by a large female owl, who comes to daylight roost on a massive ceiling fan they have in their covered outdoor living area. My grandson is not impressed. He is on clean up owl poo duty. So lucky. I would happily take on that chore just to have a house owl. And we all have to pooh lol No phone call, I had two other calls I wanted to make but will have to do one later tonight and the other tomorrow. The face is easing.. lol... lots of saline does the trick |
