Love Richard Osman books Mica - somehow he manages to get each persons personality so I can really envisage them.

Recently invested in an air fryer oven as putting on the main oven for just a few things is not the most efficient use of power.
I’m Am still experimenting with it and had some really good roast veg the other night using the air fryer function.  It’s a long time since I had roasted veges for just one person. Yesterday I made a variation of seed crackers using the oven function and once again they turned out well.

My oven cleaning exercise failure made me think about an easier way to cook seeing it is so rarely for anything more than just the single meal. Popeyes turbo air cooker thing looks sensible as a way to experiment before indulging in something a bit more pricey.

Certainly a lot easier than cleaning the oven!

Hunni I have had my Warehouse air fryer for 6 years - I use it all the time -oven fry chips etc brilliant and muffins - when I shifted in here I found the instruction book for the fancy steam oven in the kitchen - far too complicated especially when I read all the product reviews about how difficult it is too clean - my top tip is boiled eggs - in the air fryer no water - lowest temp - never a cracked egg .You will enjoy your Venetian it’s so much quicker than turning your oven on
Will check out those fabric sites Mica - going to have to get somebody to interlock it for me- in a weak moment I gave my machine to my granddaughter when she moved to Oz - she used it all the time I thought I would just borrow my sisters but Gabrielle took hers somewhere in the silt and she is living on the West Coast so she is not an option - have to finish the damn thing before I need to worry about backing it
Starting to cool down time to shut everything up

RE: You can never have enough... - Venetian1 - 30-07-2023

Sister has a warehouse air fryer which gets a lot of use and she swears by it, it has shelves not just the biggish basket some have.
Mine is a fairly basic one from K Mart, reasonably priced but has good reviews. I like having the 2 options oven or air fryer and it is big enough do a batch of baking in but nowhere as big as the oven.
Only thing was I don’t have bench space for it so got a little bedside table from the warehouse which fits perfectly in a corner of the kitchen, is nice and sturdy and has a drawer for the trays - not the round basket thingy though  Big Grin

My main problem at the moment is I keep thinking of things I would like to make in it and if I did them all I’d be the size of a house in no time  Big Grin

Sorry Jan I can’t over you an over locker as I gave mine away not so long ago as it wasn’t getting a lot of use. I still miss it though from time to time. It seems a bit of a balancing act at times as to what to keep and what to get rid of and when is the right time to do so   Undecided

Lol, the sunniest patch in the room always has a cat in it.

But the plates go tomorrow, so she can have her chair back. And tg4dat. I hate pick up auctions...

I had a look at that one, looks very compact and a good price. Thing is I have just managed to clear all the non stick surfaces out of my kitchen so I am reluctant to add a new one. Mind you, learning how to use the 'new' (second hand trademe bargain) Simon Gault stainless steel frypans is a challenge, but I am enjoying them. Nice and heavy and go beautifully with the other stainless pots I have collected. So the glass oven really appeals - and there is one, new in the box, on TM at the moment. So we shall see.

I see New World are doing a new cookware promo, and yes, it's non stick surfaces or pots I don't need. Never mind, I can collect the stickers and give them away. Sticker games for grown ups, lol...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 31-07-2023

morning ladies Smile More rain today, I think.

We just don't have the space, cupboard or bench, for air fryers and the like Sad The new oven is very efficient and has a 'fast heat' setting which heats the oven very quickly. I don't have to pre-heat when baking until I am almost ready to use it.

I love where Puss is sitting, OHH lol. If their little butt can squeeze into the space, they sit. I love love love your cushions in the pic too Heart

Back Street Bargains is a blast from the past, mica. I didn't think they were around anymore. I remember them being in the 'basement' part of DIC in Hamilton - now that's showing my age lol.

I don't think it's going to be much of an outdoor type of day. No more excuses, back to hand quilting the placemats.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Grey old day out there, was surprised to hear the airport was foggy.

Love the photo Hunni. She is the image of Missy's sister.

Of out visiting today. MrP first. Hopefully Ill be with MrP when the Dr visits... Then off to make toasted sammies for the Ladies and Young Peter. still have a couple of things to prep before I go.

I seemed to be busy all weekend and was nicely tired last night. Have one pair of socks to do. Even MrP didnt complain when I said I had such a busy weekend but that he would have to wait.. He was saying he's losing hankies. So Ill have to make some more. annoying as the last ones were real good quality ones. But as I said things tend to do the rounds there and eventually get back to the rightful owner. lol

Have a fab day all

Woke up to an email from the buyer postponing pick up. Here we go...

But, on the positive side it isn't raining yet! And the seller of the new in the box glass oven can ship to me for peanuts, so we win some today.

And I get to stay in bed rather than get organised. Lovely, my book is at an interesting stage!

Those two gorgeous cushions came from Dubai apparently, and are usually on my bed, and I love them too!

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 31-07-2023

Morning all
Wet and cold but expecting sun this afternoon.

Good earthquake last night of course the boy k9s flew onto the bed couple of whooses.

OHH madam puss looks very regal in her lovely winter fur coat.

Hard workout at gym this morning all legs as I have tweaked my elbow, filled car with petrol and replenished the k9 food now time for a nice sit down with cuppa.

No plans yet for the rest of the day we will see what transpires

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 31-07-2023

Another lesson this morning, about how our heads are the heaviest bits of us. I bent low to pop a glass oven dish into the lowest pantry shelf, holding the arm of the perching stool I have in the kitchen just in case, and the blasted thing tipped. Fortunately as I was bent double already I did not have far to fall so no harm done but boy getting back up is a mammoth task. I scooted on my bum back into the lounge and climbed back up using one of my chairs, but oh, kneeling really hurts lol.

A little rest I think, till the shakes go away, and then I will get on with my day.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 31-07-2023

ooohhhhh OHH, I hope you are ok and have no bruising.

I'm taking a break from the hand quilting. My aunt texted me and told me she has found some photos of my grandparents (Family #1 lol) and will email them to me. My sister has had her DNA tested and of course, because I'm adopted, it isn't the same/similar as mine. It's been fun comparing though. I saw a photo of my grandmother years ago all dressed in her slappers dress (it was the 1920's) and gorgeous Jewlery and she was sitting on a motorcycle with a very dashing young man who wasn't granddad Tongue She would never tell us who he was lol. Fingers crossed that's the photo my aunt is sending.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 31-07-2023

Take it easy for the rest of the day Hunni - look on it as an excellent excuse/reason to just read the book all day. Smile

My new gumboots have slightly slippery soles which I didn't realise until we were out for the walk yesterday & I almost went for a skid; they'll need some roughing up on a rough surface.

Somewhere there's an old photo of my grandmother with her business partner/friend taken in the 20s, both looking up to the minute in fashion with cloche hats etc. They were a good advertisement for their dressmaking business, & did quite well.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 31-07-2023

And then I got hungry and decided a late lunch was in order... Knocked a plate off the bench, onto the floor tray with three cat dishes on it, and none survived the engagement.

I probably should not have got up today, lol.

Oh bugger! Or, to quote youngest granddaughter - 'Holy shit biscuits!'

I'd go back to bed if I was you... Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 31-07-2023

Ohh Hunnie, thats not good. Id be tempted with weetbix and fruit for tea, just to be safe. Sadly you will probably feel it more in the next couple of days.

What brand of boots were they Lilith? Odd for gummies to be slippery. My Warehouse specials are black and shiny with clear soles.. but very good grip for cheapies.

MrP was very low this morning. Saw the Dr who also says he hasn't been taken his meds. But he swears he has been.

Then off I went to the family. and they all enjoyed having toasted Sammie's for lunch. Todays discussion was about animals. And I've been invited to stay with Young Peter and his partner in South Africa. So Im guessing his partner is finding a nurse or place for Peter. I will miss him when he goes. Turns out I miss heard him he does like toasted sammies so we all had them.. And he is looking forward to his cake next week.

Bobbie took me to her room and had they some photos of her done so Ive asked for a copy. Then I will give them to MrP for his window. He will like that.

I have to ring the home tomorrow and ask them to call the hair dresser off. They are doing bobbies hair twice a week and that only leaves her $5 a fortnight for any outings or personal items. And it was two others that told me. And Bobbie herself said they dragged her in, she didn't like to say no. So Ill ring and ask them to call them off.. Dianne and I did tell one of the hair dressers but we need to make sure that once is enough.

Right time for my Games.

The gumboots are from Number one shoes; I also have some of those shiny black ones from The warehouse but despite being clearly marked as a size 7 they're at least an 8. If I can't get these to roughen up a bit, may need to pad the warehouse ones & wear them.

lmaooo.... when I make a mistake, it's usually a good one Tongue  Yep, that's what I mean!  Sorry Nana, you were a true lady Heart  Dam I miss that woman lol

morning ladies Smile It's a lovely calm start to the day so far.

We had a chicken called Slapper... she was called that for obvious reasons...

OHH, I hope you aren't feeling too battered and bruised today.

I have to go to Hamilton this morning. We've received a manufacturer's recall notice about the car. It's still safe to drive, but a part needs replacing. The dealers will have a look first though. While there, I might as well do the grocery shopping.

The Furry One is still scratching and biting himself but the hydrocortisone cream seems to be helping more than the Prednisone. We're down to half a tablet now for a few days, another week will see him off it all together.

Better get moving, lots to do today while out and about.

happy crafting Smile
