The colours are just gorgeous - probably look good whatever you use it for. Smile

Jewel colours. I think they should speak for themselves, so a scarf maybe, with hand rolled hems.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 21-02-2022

That sounds good. Something you can fling around to show off those lovely colours. Smile

morning ladies Smile We had rain overnight so I'm a happy girl Smile

*drools as she sees Oh_hunnihunni's fabric* That is just gorgeous and needs some serious thinking before taking the scissors to it <3 A scarf would be great, to me the fabric says it needs to be flowy and have some sort of movement to show those colours. It would also go well with the denim you are playing with.

This morning I'm going to mow the lawn, it's wet but that's OK. I mow early in the morning so it's always wet when I mow. The compost bin needs a good catcher load of clippings after yesterday's garden effort. The worm farm is doing great. OMG the worms loooveeee avocados stones. They burrow out from the center of the stone. We are getting quite a few milk bottles full of worm wee which is just magic when planting new plants or when I move them around the garden. The potted plants love the extra feed too.

Later I'll work on my tui, I was slack yesterday and read my book instead.

Happy crafting Smile

That silk inspired a stash search to unearth some other pieces I knew I had. It occurred to me they might make good lining pieces for the denims, to cover up my random thread lines. In case some good stitcher noticed my wicked laziness...

I am having such fun with this slow stitching business. I am resenting having to take time away from it to deal with real life stuff...

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 22-02-2022

Good morning.

It's going to be another nice day. We have also had some rain overnight by the look of the wet deck.

My grandchildren day yesterday, plus some morning visitors. Today I can catch up ... groceries at the top of the list. I have 2 kgs of tomatoes I bought cheaply to turn into relish.

The silk is gorgeous Oh_hunnihunni. I agree, it needs to be able to 'flow' for effect.

Have a good day.

Morning all
Bit of wind and scattered cloud at the moment

Oh_hunnihunni beautiful fabric endless possiblities to use it  I would be frozen by indecision Cool

Got some sewing done either side of my meeting yesterday used a pink cotton spandex remnant t shirt and short sleeved onsie with white binding

Not sure what to do today that quilt kit is calling to me so I might cut  the fabric in prep lots and lots of bits so I will need to  e organised not to get in a muddle.
Of course there is some housework to be done first no overnight tidy up elves here

Have a good day

arrggggg the washing machine has died. Came in from mowing the lawn to hang out the washing and it hadn't spun. It looks like it needs a new belt as there is this greasy stuff over the wash. I'll phone the repair chap as soon as they open. We have an awesome repair firm here. Maybe they can 'diagnose' the problem over the phone, order the part and then come out to do the repair. Only one lot of travel to pay for then.

lmao oh_hunnihunni, are you thinking of me? lmao as if I would notice! I think it's awesome you're embroidering. And yep, there are times I resent being interrupted too.

Better make this call. The earlier the better.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-02-2022

Morning everyone

Yeah Im late lol.

The possibilities are ended for that silk Hunni hunni. Id probably go with using it as a scarf then it can go with lots of different outfits rather than being attached to one.

Ohh noo Kiwimade re the washing machine. Mine is a Haier, and I see alot of people moaning about the ones that winz very kindly supplies, saying they are poor quality blah blah balh. Never had a problem with mine. That we paid for ourselves.. They are just being ungreatful and cos they arent given the choice now. Haiers have to be loaded evenly thats the only quirck that they have in my opinion.

A day off for me today. The body is complaining.. Its been pretty good tho.. But I saw a crate a couple of days ago with some pretty yarns in. So I admit Im tempted to go digging..

Have a fab day everyone

I envy the skills of my fellow stitchers, and truly I don't think my stitching really qualifies as embroidery - more like mark making with thread!
But I am having fun!

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 22-02-2022

Hot here & supposed to get to 28 later.
The recently married granddaughter sent me a FB message this morning with their wedding video. Had to tell her that I couldn't see it properly & must have had something in my eye, because I definitely wasn't blubbing.Smile

I'm very glad it's not 11 years ago.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-02-2022

morning ladies Smile  A bit cloudy today but I suspect the sun will show itself shortly.

I should be out weeding the other half of the garden but this morning I need to pull the washing machine out from the wall and clean behind it before the repairman comes.  He asked what time would suit but we are planning to be home all day so told him to just rock on up anytime.  It needs a new pump and he has the part so all good.

The Furry One had a seizure yesterday and he's having a mild one now.  He's with MrK and will be fine in a minute or two.   So we are wondering now if he needs his meds upped a bit .  Will phone the vet when they open shortly.  He's 11 in a couple of weeks so know as he gets older, the chances of more seizures are greater.

I will find time today to stitch  Flower    Oh_hunnihunni, it doesn't matter if your stitching is 'just' lines, we all start at the beginning.  And as long as you are having fun and enjoying the process, then that's what's important.  For me, the end result can be a by product.

Coffee  Coffee is finished, time to get cracking cleaning behind the washing machine.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 23-02-2022

Argh... just wrote a whole post and it disappeared Huh

Anyway to repeat
Windy and overcast here but not cold.
Glad you washing machine can be repaired KM.

Took the k9s for long walk yesterday morning and spent the afternoon cutting out the giraffe quilt got background and one giraffe cut out. Lots of very small pieces. Will wait for my machine to come home before I start piecing as I prefer to use the acufeed in my hands I get a more accurate 1/4 inch seam.

Good news got my name on a list for new sewing cabinet which should arrive in couple months bad news the shipping costs have increased the price significantly. DH said just get it we are not gadding about got to love an enabler Heart

Baby wrangling this morning which means pushing the baby stroller about while DD attends an appointment. Getting better at driving the thing

Have a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-02-2022

Morning everyone

Ohh the poor boy Kiwimade.. I agree tho our systems get used to meds so theirs must do to.

A friend showed me a video and photos she took yesterday of a family of Quails that visited them at a camping sight. Their 14 year old Foxy was sitting on a camping chair just a few feet from the birds and didn't even think to get off and go for them.. Apparently they have them on their land and he's been taught not to touch. But for a terrier I think its bloody amazing he didn't go for them.

I went through some crates yesterday, its like a trip down memory lane in some cases lol.. But I have another crate full to add to the sale. Its actually been really good for me to do this. More to do before I get to the fabric... Found some yarn to send to my sister in law that I know Ill never use.

Going to put covers and sheets up in the garage today. Hiding off stuff not in the sale. Then on Friday in between visiting MrP Ill set up the tables and put all the stuff out.

I agree too the Stitching is the journey, same as cutting out fabric to sew, knitting the pieces to join etc. So long as you enjoy it, that is all that matters and the end result is the bonus.

Have a fab day everyone

As my favourite creative mentor says 'it is about process over product', and he is right. When it comes to making stuff, we all do it because of the process.

Except housework, of course.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 23-02-2022

There was a pleasant surprise in my inbox this morning; Creative cronies have accepted one of my illustrations for their 2023 moon calendar. Really surprised as I hadn't expected to ever get one in the calendar again. Although I've had a few in their diary, their standards have risen dramatically especially their calendar illustrations, now that its open outside NZ.

Only now I have to come up with a photo to send them, plus a short artists' bio...I'm think perhaps 'Still learning. Not dead yet." Smile

Good morning from a blustery HB - might get a shower or two -well done Lilith - decisions decisions what to submit -
Hope your garage sale goes well Popeye - have you got somebody to help you -
just a heads up don’t go panic buying but if there is anything you can’t do without make sure you keep your pantry supplies up - all the distribution centres are grinding to a halt - 2/3rds of the staff are off waiting for covid test results - no symptoms just close contacts - hundreds of containers are sitting waiting to be devanned full of product ready to go out to stores - some of it will spoil - madness - they had ordered millions of rat tests but the ministry took them and now they have to apply one staff member at a time - whoever would have imagined two years ago life would be turned upside down - can’t imagine if I didn’t have my crafts and my lovely little house and my family - life must be so tough for some people - getting maudling so will go and see what’s ready to pick in my veggiepod

Yes I've done a little bit of getting in one or two things which might be useful, if there are problems with supply, not much but every little helps & hopefully it won't come to that with a bit of luck.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-02-2022

Yes Jan I have a helper, but just for the day. I dont expect her to help set up or pack away after it.

Im going to pack most of what doesnt sell that is a pain to try and post and take it to the oppy. Anything easy to post Ill try on TM.

OMG I found two crates of fabric.. Have downsized it to one. I think Ill just put a couple of dollars on the small ones and maybe $5 on the big ones to get rid of it. Good news is I always knew there was more singlet fabric somewhere. Now I can make some more for both of us.

I have 4 crates of wool sitting on the trolley, at least hope to get it down to 3. But Its mostly been brought for blankets cos there's alot of packets of 6 in there from what I can see... Sighs.. the Mitre10 Ad comes to mind.. "Its a pretty Big Job" lol.

So long as I can keep getting my pepsi there wont be much I couldnt go without, and Im pretty well stocked up in most things.. Fingers crossed..

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 24-02-2022

morning ladies Smile  Another cool start to the day but I think we're in for another hot one.

Congratulations Lilith7!  That's very exciting news.  What a decision to make  Smile   Would love to know the name of the calendar so I can keep an eye out for it.

Thanks for the heads up, Jan.  I've noticed a few things unavailable already at the supermarket.  It's going to get tougher on the staff as they try and plug the gaps work wise too.  I was in Countdown yesterday dropping off our soft plastics for recycling and saw a cabbage for... wait for it... $7.50!!  Thank goodness MrK has planted our $3.50 punet of six cabbage plants the other day.

My washing machine was repaired and it wasn't the pump.  Turned out it was some lint tangled up around the pump and inner workings.  So no new parts needed and a smaller bill   Big Grin  While he was there, he fixed my drier as it would only go if you thumped the heck out of it and then refused to stop.  It was a five minute fix to fit a new capacitator.  So two repairs still costing $75 less than the original quote.   I was wrapped lol.

After I cleaned behind and around the washing machine yesterday I thought I might as well clean the oven seeing as I was getting grubby anyway.  So two pet hates ticked off my to-do list yesterday.

Today it's back to weeding.  Not that there's a lot to do but I like to keep on top of it.  I have a big dead branch I need to break up and bin and a very bossy climbing rose needs some canes but back so other plants can grow. An hour here and there adds up with things getting done and I think of it as my mental health time too.  My busiest season is coming up and the more 'little' things I can o now, the less I have to do over autum.

Embroidery later in the day I hope.  I sat down to do some yesterday and the Furry One decided it was a good time to sit in my lap and sleep.  Anyone would think he had cat in his genes.

Happy crafting  Bigsmile
