You have time for netting, the birds don't seem to like the green berries. It's noticing when they start to turn blue that we have to be careful with! Sneaky things blueberries!

And birds...

I grew German Green tomatoes one year and relied on the blackbirds to tell me when those were ripe, lol...

Morning all
Another bustery dull cold day  brr.. toasties indoors tho Big Grin

I like the foliage of blueberries

Off to the dentist for check up this morning might do a mini shop on way home.

No definite plans for the rest of the day

Enjoy your day

Morning everyone

Its a stunning day today, after yesterdays lumpy rain.

OMG Breakfast has Bubbah on the couch. Tina from Turners front lady. Didnt know she was a comedian or on taskmaster. She looks different with long hair lol.

No plans for today, but I will most likely do some photos for TM..

I have Four, yes Four Birthdays today. 1 sister in law, a sister friend, a niece in Aussie and the little Heart boy I helped several years ago. One call to make, have test my friend and the other two I will do on FB.

Have a fab day all

Good morning.

Lovely sunshine, day looking good.

Agree that blueberries are attractive shrubs. Our half dozen were huge when living rural, under a big alkythene hoop structure. They certainly won't be able to grow wild where we are now.  I have a photo of my JR inside the netting helping herself to the ripe berries, obviously not dog proof  Big Grin

Will drop son off at airport then continue on to see niece and baby.  Her OH back at work this week.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 22-08-2023

Dreaded grocery shopping done, front lawn done, dog walk done, a little bit of painting done. Not doing another thing today.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 22-08-2023

Gardened, put basket of lemons out by the letterbox, sharing is good, and got an appointment for a roaming hairdresser guy to come prune that cloud of white I seem to have acquired. Should make things easier for the vac machine, lol..

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-08-2023

Back lawn done.

My, we have all been productive today. Felt so good being outside for an hour in the sun.

Drs rang just as I came inside. Apparently my Iron is on the low side. Could I please make an appointment.. I laughed and said That I already have one for Thursday which is why I did the bloods last week. lol. The Nurse then laughed and said she wished all their patients would do the same thing.

So Ive decided since I have worked today I will shout myself some nice sausages from the fish and chip shop. Wont bother with chips. A reward and a teeny bit of Iron. lol

The car has had its part replaced and they even washed it, painted the tyres black and vacumed it for me. What a treat when I saw it all sparkling at the dealership.

Today I need to take the recyling into the transfer center and post an 80th birthday card. Once the frost has lifted the plan first is to pull a few weeds that have dared to defy the mulch. MrK has finished the jewellery box for my friend and it looks stunning. I'll take some pics and post them later. I had to buy some felt for the bottom of the trays (we ran out) and Spotlight had six pieces for $10 for VIP customers. They are around $3.50 each, so I bought six to stash some away for any more he makes.

One more day with the Fluffy One before my sister takes her home tomorrow.

Time to get the day cranked into gear. Coffee is finished and washing machine has beeped.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-08-2023

Morning everyone

Another stunner of a day so far. Tad Chilly tho.

Nice that they groomed the car for you Kiwimade.. I hope you had fun wandering around the Base.

Off to see MrP this morning. The mood he is in and with the pain means the visits are getting shorter. But we all know of we are sore we are not good company.

I will list the things I did photos of yesterday, later today.

Found out last night one of our dear older friends had died. She was one tough cookie, still running the farm at 86. But she was leaving to go to town, didnt check the road and drove out and was hit by a milk Tanker. Oddly that was the perfect way for her to go. They can finally be together now. So Ill have to tell MrP this morning.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 23-08-2023

Good morning.

Cool now but a sunny day ahead. I made sure to put a couple of pots over 2 little frost tender shrubs I planted in pots yesterday!

Groceries to get before my sister comes to stay a couple of days.  She will hang out with and help niece and baby  Heart

I unpicked the vest back (3/4 done) I'd started ... didnt want to get 3/4 through the front as well and find not enough yarn to finish! Have sorted through some crochet and knitted blanket patterns and will procrastinate  then hopefully  come to a decision.

Thats very sad about your friend Popeye. Phil Spence off Location, Location has just lost both his elderly parents after their car tipped off a bridge and into a river on their farm. Luckily their carer escaped from the car.

Cuppa finished, time to move.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 23-08-2023

Morning all

Feel efficient been gym, bought dog food and done supermarket shop enjoying a cuppa and biscuit before clear the emails that need a reply.

Plan sorting out pattern for new tracksuit type jacket  my current t one is looking well worn calculated it is 15yrs old do think it is time to retire it.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 23-08-2023

Cleaned out bathroom cupboard earlier - there was stuff in there i hadn't seen for years, so needed doing.
Also mowed back lawn did a bit on boots & a bit on a painting & then some dreaded weeding so feeling ever so virtuous now & awarded myself a bit of Whittaker's dark block.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-08-2023

I am deeply tempted by an instagram recipe I came across today. Gorgeous fat dates overlapped onto baking paper, spread with peanut butter, topped with a sprinkling of roasted nuts, drizzled with dark choc then sprinkled with sea salt. And chilled, before being broken into bark like pieces.

I had to restrain myself in the chocolate aisle today. But I did buy dates. For the pantry. Just in case.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, popeye. I read there was a car v tanker accident near Morrinsville, was this your friend?

yummmmm except for the peanut butter, OHH Tongue I see Whitakers has a new flavour, honey nougat and almond. Could be tempted to try that.

The Fluffy One goes home today, just as she settles in to sleeping through the night and not spending most of it wandering outside.

Today I'm going to fling some potash and epsom salts around the roses, the potash for the flowers and the magnesium for stem strength. And weed a little, dig a little and generally potter about. Once the frost has lifted though. It's bad enough hanging washing out in a frost, let alone weed.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 24-08-2023

Morning everyone

OMG Hunni that sounds divine.. I have the choccie. lol Im learning to love sweet and salty. Let us know of you make it. Perhaps you could do a half mix. Makes it sound not as bad lol.

Off to the Drs this morning. Cheaper to see him than to get a script. And I cant get one pill without seeing him. And he wants to talk to me about my non existent Iron level. Oops. Hoping he will stick to his word and drop the metformin too.

Then the Grocery gathering. Off to Pukekohe simply cos it still works out cheaper. Its one day that I mumble to myself that if MrP was better or not, I would be living in a town with a choice of supermarkets.

I was talking to his Little Big brother yesterday. Totally different men. Cliffie is ready to go when ever his time is up. He is 83. We are kindred Spirits. Our birthdays only 5 days apart.

Found out that our friend who died recently wasn't 86, which was our guess, but actually 93.. She was still running the farm and mowing her own lawn. We simply cant feel sad for her cos she is finally with her beloved Husband. We do feel sorry for the tanker driver and other person that was with him. They would have known Ethel too. She was one tough nut Leo nothing could stop her. I have her wonderful Pavlova recipe. A throw it all in the bowl and beat for 10 minutes. then cook. Its huge and has never failed me.

I hope Im not the only one that thinks, if you are in Solitary confinement, dont do what gets you there. Yes its not nice but you can alter your behavior and not get put in there in the first place.

Right better get myself sorted

Have a fab day.. It looks grotty out there

She was from Normanby which is just North of Hawera Kiwimade. I wont forget her, especially at sewing times. There was a huge box of cottons in the Auctions we all used to go to, and we went halves, we split them in half and Im sure they will outdo both of us.
She had a massive collection of Royal Dalton too. And wasnt afraid to use it.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 24-08-2023

morning all
sunny!

sounds like we are all going to be occupied today, off to my volunteer stint this morning, then have an audit/monitor to  do this afternoon which involves a bit of traveling to and from, meeting friend up the coast for dinner tonight.

cut out and started a track jacket yesterday found some suitably aged merino sweat  material in stash had to pop to Spotlight to get zips so productive day yesterday too.

Sorry about your friend Popeye but what a good age she reached.

OHH  that slice sounds decadent you make it and I will vicariously through you.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-08-2023

C'mon ladies that recipe was off a health food influencer! And if you think about it, in small quantities it is a very healthy snack. And for me the dark choc would halt over indulgence, I can only demolish a little of that at a time, lol. Not like Whittakers Blondie, though even that can be pushing my taste buds as I work through the block, one square at a time...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 24-08-2023

lol OHH.  Blondie is one of the very few Whitakers I don't like.  And I don't like peanut butter either so you can all munch your way through it without me Tongue

Six roses left to fertilise, I'll do them after lunch.  I need to get dishes done now that MrK has finished pottering in the kitchen.   Here's some pics of the jewelry box he made for my friend Heart

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-08-2023

Doesn't have to be PB though, I was thinking as I washed dishes, it could be any nut butter. I was considering a cashew butter, now that would be very yummy, despite my swearing off cashews on account of the awful damage the pickers suffer harvesting the things.

Nope, I'm saving the dates for scones, but I must admit that sea salt and dark choc idea did make my eyes glaze over for a minute there!

Oh, and that box is beautiful! Talented man you have there...

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 24-08-2023

Beautiful box MrK very talented

Chomping down some lunch before taking off
