RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-08-2023 morning ladies It's -3 here this morning, a real bug killer! lol Jan, you aren't alone in throwing a tanty at frustrating designs. We've all done it! The placemats are almost done, two to bind. Not perfect but I've decided done is better than perfect. Yesterday we celebrated my sister-in-law's husband's 80th birthday It was a lovely day, warm in the sun, too. I've come home with some plants for the garden lol. We often swap Just as well too as I have some Star of Bethlehem spring bulbs to 'give back' to one of my sisters-in-law as hers just didn't come up this spring. Happy crafting Today I'll be supermarket shopping, which means visiting at least two supermarkets to find what we like. At least the weather will be fine and I won't be loading groceries into the car in the rain. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-08-2023 I watched the weather last night and saw Taupo predicted to have a -3 start and chuckled to myself. We used to say we opened the fridge in the morning to warm our hands so we could light the fire, it certain could throw a glorious frosty morning at us. But boy the roses did well... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-08-2023 Morning everyone. My Temp Gauge told me she didnt want to get up early lol... The sun is soo bright on the back fence that its actually bright in the lounge. I plan on making shortbread today, but perhaps later than normal , since I usually will be in the kitchen by now. But since I can please myself I dont mind lol. Spent an hour with MrP yesterday, they asked would he like a shower since he was too sore on Sunday. So I left him smiling and on his way. Then spent nearly 5 hours with the gang. I do like our varied group, and that we can talk about everything without anyone getting huffy. Im trying to come up with something different for their lunches next time. Goodness knows how anyone ate the home supplied meal, supposedly it was meatloaf but it was simply a mess on a plate. Irene doesn't normally turn anything down but she didn't eat it. The Cook retired last week, so we dont know who is cooking yesterday. Have a fab day everyone. I might sneak out later if the leg behaves and enjoy a bit of the sun. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 29-08-2023 Morning all Frosty start here too JanW sometimes a project just needs to be put in time out. Not up to much here went to Warehouse yesterday to purchase another soft toy same as the we gave DGD 1 for her birthday as it was a big hit she takes it to bed never wanted or allowed anything in her sleep space prior to this. So now we have a ba k up if it gets lost. Of course while we were shopping we picked up a few things to put aside for secret Santa presents. No plans for today Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 29-08-2023 (29-08-2023, 08:21 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: I watched the weather last night and saw Taupo predicted to have a -3 start and chuckled to myself. Nothing like a Taupo frost - we were in Wakeman Road Acacia Bay and the frost was on the ground all day .Didn’t mind the frost but didn’t like the foggy mornings - I worked at Carters in Spa Road so used to have to cross the bridge when it was a real pea souper was frightening .If my old boy hadn’t got sick we probably would have gone back to Taupo Dr Seuss might see the light of day later on RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-08-2023 Going out at 11am on a sunny Winter day with a full basket of freshly washed laundry, and finding the pegs frozen solid in the bucket. But oh those days were glorious. Best years of ny life. We used to say we opened the fridge in the morning to warm our hands so we could light the fire, it certain could throw a glorious frosty morning at us. But boy the roses did well... We used to stay there quite a bit when the kids were little. I remember 2 things vividly, son and I watching the cars sliding on the Ice on the lake corner opposite the trout statue. Then, son and I walking the Taupo to Aratiatia track on a 5 degree frosty morning.... wonderful. I loved walking so much and I miss it terribly. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-08-2023 I didn't even mind the Fog in Mangakino. You just had to be organized to get the washing dry. Especially on days when the fog lifted at 1pm and was back down at 3pm.. Which wasn't too often. But you got used to it. If MrP's family weren't there , as in his sons, I think the youngest daughter and my ex who was their stepfather yep we basically ended up swapping, I would go back... but it makes it hard when having to travel to hospitals etc. If we could just move it a bit closer to Hamilton. Mind you I dont like Hamilton lol. Thank goodness you didnt have to pay for water there tho cos you left the taps dripping to help prevent them freezing solid. lol 8 dozen shortbread done. A few tips off some of the stars. So I dont think Ill be making those en mass much now. But I have a full set of cutters to make the tree3s so they can stay, for now lol RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 29-08-2023 No idea where the day went. Did the groceries, took Madame Le Dog for walk, did more weeding & a bit more on painting - & suddenly it's 3 o clock. And found a little delight in letterbox - I have to take part in a survey fgs. Its about disability, which I hoped would let me out of it - until I found the part where they're including non disabled people as well. Bugger. Do they think I've nothing better to do at this time of year & would they like to come & dig over my garden while I'm doing the wretched thing??! It apparently takes about 30 mins by phone or longer if they come to your house so no prize for guessing which option I'll opt for. I wonder which prize idiot decided that spring was a good time for this, when people are really busy. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-08-2023 Lilith, I received that letter too! Phoned this afternoon to make the arrangements and they did it there and then. I was also surprised as I'm not disabled but they wanted a cross section of people so they can compare able bodied with disabled. And it helps with funding. It took the full 30 minutes and was easy enough. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 29-08-2023 (29-08-2023, 03:38 PM)kiwimade64 Wrote: Lilith, I received that letter too! The garden's only just drying out enoug to be dug over & I can only do a bit at a time. If they'd done it in winter it wouldn't be quite so annoying. RE: You can never have enough... - Kenj - 29-08-2023 Why not just tell them to bugger off? RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 29-08-2023 (29-08-2023, 04:32 PM)Kenj Wrote: Why not just tell them to bugger off? That was my first thought but alas there's no option, its obligatory & I can see why they need to know but its annoying just at this time of year. RE: You can never have enough... - Kenj - 29-08-2023 Who is placing the obligation on you and is it the death penalty if you do tell them to bugger off? Probably - its the govt. RE: You can never have enough... - Kenj - 29-08-2023 (29-08-2023, 04:57 PM)Lilith7 Wrote:(29-08-2023, 04:37 PM)Kenj Wrote: Who is placing the obligation on you and is it the death penalty if you do tell them to bugger off? No Problem. Surely they would be used to being told to bugger off by now. At a guess, I think the only requirements of a citizen is to obey the laws and fill in the census forms. Which depending on how you feel can be ignored by all an sundry! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-08-2023 morning ladies Another bug killing frost here, -2 this morning This morning the plan is to plant the plants my sister-in-law gave me under the espaliered camellias. The daisies self-seed and should, over time, fill in along the fence. And hopefully, help keep the weeds down. They are also a favourite of MrK's sister who passed away a couple of years ago and by chance, they flower on her birthday I should finish sewing the binding down on the last two placemats today as well. I don't think I've ever procrastinated quite so much! It will be so good to see them done and dusted. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-08-2023 Morning all A decent frost here this morning too. KM its always hard to finish a project you find a bit tedious but the end is in sight. What you going to make with hardanger? Made a new top for gym with dry wicking fabric I bought while on fabric shop trip it performed well this morning at gym. Off to movies this afternoon Oppenheimer 3hrs worth. Old codger day so free drink and scone(forDH). Gotta do some tiding up Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 30-08-2023 Good morning. Gorgeous day looming after a cold start. Have been keeping busy with family staying the last few days. Day to myself today and will use up a couple of bananas soon in a cake then get outside. I see my sweetpeas have popped up but still a bit cold for my liking to get the sprouting seed potatoes into the ground. A blue moon on Thursday, maybe that's a sign for planting. The peggy square crochet cot blanket is nearly done and I have the last small linking squares to finish before crocheting together. Cuppa finished, time to move. Have a good day all. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-08-2023 Morning everyone Don't think we had a frost today. Id be happy to get a 30 minute survey. Wayyy better than having to do the financial one that you Have to keep a record of every cent that comes in and goes out. For a Month I think it is. And no way of getting out of that one either. They arrived on our door the day we moved into a new house when I was 16ish. And it is done by houses, not who live there. My sister in law had to do it too and she grumbled the whole way through. I kinda feel well there's many times you hear how Such and such percentage of people say in these surveys, and they never ask you, so now is your chance. Id ask them to phone back at a time that suits you.. Our 32nd wedding anniversary today. And I cannot go and see MrP. They are resealing the carpark. So no cars are allowed in. and there's no back entrance as they are surrounded by farm land , fences then the golf course. So I rang this morning and asked if a few of the girls could make a bit of fuss of MrP and Ill ring at our usual time since its his shower day too. I might ring later in the day and see if it has been finished and go up for a quick visit. Otherwise Ill stop in after my bloods and on the way to shopping tomorrow. Thankfully Im pretty well stocked up at the mo, so I hope to get some mixed fruit. It was cheap at New World last week, Crossing my fingers it might still be . Was $7-99 for a kilo. Shortbread is all in the freezer. Just cakes to do. Then I need to find some cellophane bags to "wrap" them in to give. Housework for me when Im finished here. Have a fab day everyone |
