RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 05-09-2023 As I expected, they think MrP has another urine infection. But he was refusing to give a sample or take his pills. They did think about sending him to hospital, but a Dr saw him and they have put him on Antibiotics. They have also prescribed a sedative to be used if need be. I told them I was pleased of the sedative, cos even when sick he is Blardy Strong. Im resisting wanting to shout.. Well I did tell you this, but they dont take any notice... Hopefully now they will. Im able to pick it up way earlier than they can. Maybe now they will listen. He was sleeping so I wont ring tonight. And I possibly wont visit tomorrow he needs rest, and my knee is being a Witch and a half with a capital B today. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 05-09-2023 I have just had a serious conversation with my son the sawmiller/ farmer whose wife is away with a young family member having serious surgery .My son sent this photo of the current domestic status and I am sure if my DIL knew an orphan lamb was living in the kids playroom she would have a heart attack - the room the lamb is enjoying is joined to the big old farm house with its impeccable carpeting - its a great room when the dogs and kids are muddy but if the door gets left open inadvertently he will be in serious trouble https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2067827341.jpg RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-09-2023 morning ladies A wet day for us but that's ok. We have to go to Hamilton for a CT scan of MrK's neck and left shoulder. They think he has arthritis. Good to hear MrP has had a doctor's visit. I share your frustration with medical staff, popeye. Not listening was one of the reasons we changed our doctor. lol Jan, I'm sure the lamb will be fine Our daughter had 'inside' lambs too when they were on a farm. Better get organised and find a book to take with us as it's going to be a long day. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-09-2023 Morning everyone Wet again. But that's oks. Love the lamb. I cant say any of mine came inside but given the chance they would have. My kid goat took a swim in the pool once. She wasn't terribly happy about that tho lol. The home just rang and MrP wants to see me. So I will go up and see if I can help settle him a little. My knee has been chronic but I think ill take the walker in cos they have taken his chair away for now. Yesterday I finished the coat hanger and am very pleased with it, have crochet another cover. So will finish that later. AND I started my cardy. Using baby yarn, a cream colour with mixed dots of colour. Means I can wear it with anything. it only has elbow length sleeves. I really enjoyed doing the ribbing, it has 29 rows.. I always have. My grandmother used to get me to do hers lol. The body is lacy. Only 4 rows to the pattern so hopefully I can do it. The Marakopa man is now in the pooh.. I hope they also charge the people helping him, although if they have been helping with the kids, then it makes it hard. I just hope we dont have another Dickison case on our hands, he's getting desperate if he's robbing banks. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 06-09-2023 Morning all Raining today but not cold Got the rest of applique bits cut out yesterday now just waiting for the feeling to return to my fore finger. Food hunting today and need to trace off next size up for DGD1 swim wear what I made for her birthday fits nicely now. She is like a weed and growing so I will have fun making more. She loved her rahie DD had a job getting it off her to get into her PJs couple nights ago. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-09-2023 (05-09-2023, 09:07 PM)JanW Wrote: I have just had a serious conversation with my son the sawmiller/ farmer whose wife is away with a young family member having serious surgery .My son sent this photo of the current domestic status and I am sure if my DIL knew an orphan lamb was living in the kids playroom she would have a heart attack - the room the lamb is enjoying is joined to the big old farm house with its impeccable carpeting - its a great room when the dogs and kids are muddy but if the door gets left open inadvertently he will be in serious trouble Oh that takes me back. We rented a ten acre farmlet backing onto a Lands and Survey block. The shepherd became a friend and started adding to my tiny flock of coloured sheep with his orphans, which I would pop into a carton by the Aga and hand feed. Soon as they were right they went outside with the other lambs and we built a feeder rack so I could have several bottles going at the same time. Then we had the fire, and as the fire brigade were dealing with that they accidently left the gate open and I had half a dozen hungry lambs amid the chaos... It was an interesting time, lol. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 06-09-2023 Hunny were Jacques takeaways open when you were in the Taupo District - they were up Hilltop then came down into the Main Street opposite the domain - I see she died - they were amazing I loved watching them cook - he is Asian she was pakeha - they worked liked synchronised swimmers - she did the protein and he did the sauces or he did the chips she did the fish -they had perfect timing and would smile at one another when they hit the target - their food matched their goodwill towards each other RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 06-09-2023 I don't doubt the lamb will survive unscathed Jan - not so sure about your son if it makes a mess, though! Managed a bit in garden & did a bit more on the boots but very slow going & so much else needs doing this time of year too. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-09-2023 Normal MrP was back this morning. Yay. He was quite happy and interested in my crochet coat hanger and the cardy Im knitting. Took him in a small choccie which he will enjoy later. He hasn't had chocolate in ages. Left him heading off for a swim in the bath and a wet shave. Have done the gathering stitch on the aprons, and attached the wadding and pinned the cover on the second hanger. Thats way instead of putting my knitting down cos I was messing up the ribbing, Ill still have something to do to keep me awake when watching tv at night lol. Games now then back to knitting and crochet. Very inconvenient then but at least its being fixed for him, & his dog will be happy to see his human return. Strange day here - warm but cloudy & threatening rain. It hadn't better - back lawn needs mowing & I hope to get it done tomorrow. And I'll help him with his shopping on the way home. Yesterday we spent five hours at Waikato Hospital sorting out MrK's head, neck and shoulder pain. The CT was clear, now we have to have a MRI. The five hours was nothing compared to the lady in the wheelchair opposite us who had been there 14 hours and counting. She had been in and out seeing the doctor and was waiting for a bed. The nurses were too busy to bring her a cuppa but they did give her a sandwich. I couldn't get the hot water to work at the ED so ended up going to one of the cafes and buying us all one. Better get moving, it's an early appointment - we made it early so we could be seen quickly and get home quicker. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-09-2023 Morning everyone Wet here too. I can see a book the Lamb the Boy and their Dog. Good idea having the early appointments Kiwimade. I got all excited to see I had a letter from the hospital. Took ages to get it to open to find its a cardiology appointment.. 17th October.. So I rang to confirm and asked if they could see me on the knee list, no but I did ask if there was a chance I could have a steroid shot on the same day That Im up there. So she emailed them.. They dont last long but a break would be nice. The Home boss rang late yesterday to talk to me about MrP. He has told her he's had enough, and he doesn't want to go to Middlemore. I agreed and said he has been sick so long and is sick of fighting it. And would rather stay where he is. So in future they will keep him comfortable until the inevitable happens. And I quite agree. He has a miserable life now. But last night when we were talking I managed to make him laugh. Something he hasn't done for a while. He has a lovely laugh.. A friend was here and I was well farting like a trouper, and said I assume it is the cabbage... She asked what's for tea, I said Schnitzel tatties and Coleslaw... Lol.. Thats what made him laugh lol Have got the bikkies in the car for him. Ill stop in on my way to Pukekohe. My drink is super cheap so Ill be juggling to get as much as I can. I finished the ribbing on the front of the cardy last night 30 rows on lovely 2.75mm needles lol.. Then sewed up the coat hanger. Easier to sew , so that's how I will do the next ones. Have a fab day everyone... Ill be dodging the rain hopefully. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-09-2023 Sometimes it is the tiniest things that can lift us out of a pure misery day and remind us that being alive is still a good thing. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 07-09-2023 Good morning. Overcast, but hopefully will fine up. Jan, all the cute wee lamb needed was a nappy! Yes, that is what I've seen lambs wearing when brought inside Popeye, we told the Resthome that my mum wasn't being sent to the Public Hospital anymore, but to be kept comfortable where she was. Time to move ... I have the gc today which includes the school/kindy run. Enjoy the day. RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 07-09-2023 In case anyone is collecting New World stickers for the Masterchef range of kitchen ware, note that the same range of kitchenware has had very poor reviews in Australia from when Coles ran the same promotion. The remarks about the pan handle getting hot are concerning in particular. https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/coles-masterchef-cookware-range RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-09-2023 I am saving mine and collecting generous offerings from friends in order to get the casserole pot that requires two full pages and thousands of dollars of grocery spend. Having switched over to all stainless steel and tossed all the non stick stuff out that pot really is the only one that would get any use in my kitchen. I had a look in passing at it yesterday and thought it looked a bit lightweight in comparison to the pieces I have, so will have a closer look next week when I go in to top up the plonk supplies. Decades ago, early 2000s maybe? - they did a promo with Optica double bottomed stainless steel cookware. I was living in Blenheim at the time and managed to pick up one tiny saucepan which proved to be a really good pot, so years later when I spotted the full set of those saucepans plus a couple on TradeMe for $50 I bid and won the lot. From memory the postage was another $20 odd, so on my limited budget it was an investment. But one I have never regretted. Boy those pots are lovely to use. And I doubt they will ever wear out. Plus I rather like seeing them all clean and shiny on dispay on my open shelf system - open shelves because bending to low cupboards is a bit dicey these days! So if you see any Optica pots and pans going cheap, grab them! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-09-2023 Roma, our daughter had nappies on their 'inside' lambs RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 07-09-2023 (07-09-2023, 07:13 AM)popeye333 Wrote: Morning everyone It certainly could,be a book, the tiniest thing can spark an idea. When my eldest granddaughter was little her parents got a great dane (absolutley lovely dog, especially good with small children) & I was struck by the contrast of 'The little tiny girl & the huge enormous dog' & it turned into a story; I did some illustrations & it became a first birthday gift. Had I only known, I might never have done that first one but since I'd done one it was somehow expected that I'd do a birthday book each year...I had no idea that eventually, I'd have 6 grandkids, all of whom I had to do a book for on their birthdays. Eventually I persuaded eldest granddaughter that the last one would be her (& everyone's ) final book since no teenager wants a book from their gran on their birthday. Mr P laughing has to be a good sign - I'm sure I read somewhere that laughing had health benefits of some kind but can't recall where. Keeping him in familiar surroundings also has to be better than the upheaval of somewhere new even if only short term I think you're right & he's better where he is. |
