RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-09-2023 Morning all Overcast calm nippy day here. Pottered in sewing cave yesterday, made pair shorts for DGD1 toille to check fit before I cut into the good stuff Repaired a vest. DS DGS and DGD2 popped in and spent couple hours. Finished sewing down binding on big abc quilt not just need a fine day to photograph it. Warehouse stint this morning will be rugged up. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 28-09-2023 morning ladies A mixed bag weather wise today, I think We were going to take the kids to the animal farm on the Kaimai Ranges today but looking at the heavy rain cloud covering the Kaimais at the moment, I don't think that will be happening. We might leave that for summer. It means a change of plan, maybe the local museum. Sadly, they can't climb the tower as it's closed thanks to earthquake strengthening. I have two things to try and accomplish today, make the pastry for a pie and finish mowing the lawn out on the berm. All going to plan, we are meeting my sister and her granddaughter for a picnic and play in a playground at some stage. And the pie will be something I know the kids will eat. I haven't touched my embroidery for ages and suspect it won't be happening this week either. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-09-2023 Morning everyone We have sun at the mo. Shopping today, have to check the bank and see what I will be buying lol Im sure you will have fun Kiwimade despite the weather. Have a fab day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 28-09-2023 Good morning. Hard to believe we are in for possible heavy rain later. I have windows and doors open letting the warm sun in while it lasts! Pets sunbathing. It sounds like you are having fun with the gc KM. Usually an outing/activity a day is enough to keep them happy I don't envy you keeping up with food tastes/dislikes though. The aquarium sounds fascinating OHH. I plan to spend time with visiting SI family today. Good to have all, bar one gc in one place. All is great in the garden after the rain. The spuds are over a foot tall, the first dahlias have popped up and the sweet peas are starting to attach to the strings leading to the wire. I have started another vest for myself ... good to have knitting on the go in the evenings. Time to move. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-09-2023 Wow what a day, Its sunny at the mo but the rain was soo heavy coming back there were alot of cars pulled off the road to let it pass over. Im not a fan of driving when you cant see. Time to Thaw out RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 28-09-2023 Lawn still too wet for mowing so went to Whitcoulls & got two books for eldest great grandson for Xmas since they're doigna school holiday specisl - buy one, get one half price so thought I might as well take advantage of it. Then to the vet for Madame Le Dog's flea stuff - SO exciting! Then to supermarket get her some new grain free biscuits to try out - eyewateringly priced at $30!! - luckily they met with her approval so will have to make them last. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-09-2023 Morning everyone The sun is out but man it was a wild night. Fences are all up tho. I think the Yukkas must be setting the outside lights off. Cos I sleep in the lounge they shine onto the fence. Gave up and turned them off at 4 am. Off to cut MrPs hair today. A little sad tho cos he is developing Curls at the back. Which is new. But its getting in his eyes and I dont do Mullets. Even if they are the most popular male haircut here. lol. Hmmm I wont be trying Kiwifruit with the skin on. Matty just did. Hés game but it wasn't for him. Need to pop into new world on the way, I forgot he asked for some fruit. And since I need Missys Kisses which I also forgot, I dont remember even seeing them yesterday. They dont get alot of fresh fruit. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-09-2023 morning ladies There's a pretty stiff breeze outside this morning. What brand of doggie biscuits, Lilith? I'm wondering if it's the change of doggy biscuits making the Furry One pull his fur out so will try grain free. I used to buy 1.5 kilo bags of doggy biscuits which suited us, now we have to buy bigger bags. The 1.5kilo bag you can buy, he doesn't like, even after a month of trying. Two more sleeps with the grandkids I've booted them off their devices (arrgghhhh) and they are no drawing pictures. I might have a look at that Whitcoulls special, there are a couple of series of books I would like to start getting them for Christmas and birthdays. Today it's another kids' session at the library (they asked to go), will return some books while we are there and then MrK wants potting mix so we will track some down while out and about. Still no embroidery, but that's OK. happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 29-09-2023 Morning all Bit of a storm in the wee morning hours, overcast and nippy at moment. Funndays with DGK KM Traced off some bigger sized patterns for DGD1, used a scrap knit to make up the tshirt, going to play with top coverstitch today to stitch the hem. Back of vest completed last night and rib done for front Watched documentary Ordinary Men on Netflix last night - sobering Food hunt this morning. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 29-09-2023 (29-09-2023, 07:34 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies There's a pretty stiff breeze outside this morning. The dog biscuits are Nature's Goodness, $30 for 3 kg so a bit on the expensive side. Not sure whether or not they'll help but she did seem to be very thirsty for a while which was what made me do a bit of checking & then try these ones. There's also one other brand of grain free but can't recall the name, slightly less at $27.50 for 2kg. It would be helpful if they did small bags so dogs could try them before we buy them a large one but of course that would make sense. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-09-2023 morning ladies Boy, we had quite the storm come through in the early hours. Thanks for that, Lilith I'll keep an eye out for that brand. I hate it when you can't buy your regular brands. The pak 'n save I go too also has restrictions on baking, items so I am seriously thinking of changing supermarkets. One more day with the grandies. Our picnic has been cancelled thanks to the weather and me having a sore throat. We've decided to have our picnic indoors and have a family movie afternoon with popcorn and other 'movie' treats. Should be fun lol. Yesterday I did a bit of embroidery while the kids drew and played on the computer. We made little books using printer paper and they drew pictures and wrote their story to fill in the pages. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-09-2023 Morning all Heavy rain here Sounds like you are having a lovely time with your DGK KM. DS and 2 GK popped in yesterday afternoon DGS and DH had a lovely time drawing, Earlish start for us this morni g I was just hu kering down to have a read and wee lie in when DD messaged can we have the big k9 while they go to watch rugby with the in laws. So it turned out to be a early rise. The big k9 is full of beans but seems to be more settled lately only taken 4 yrs lo Popped into Spotlight yesterday to get some patterns as I don't seem to have any for wovens for 3-5 yr and can't be bothered to draft them. I was good and kept my blinkers on a didn't look at any fabric - see keeping to my fabric diet No plans for today Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-09-2023 Morning everyone I heard the rain at one stage. I seldom hear it so it must have been heavy or perhaps lumpy. The sun is out but its still very wet. Wont get the lawn done this weekend. A lazy day planned today. Will make up some coat-hangers tho. Tomorrow Ill bake. Marsh mellow shortcake and ginger crunch. But Ill also make a steamed pudding as I have a half a bag of fruit mix open. So Ill use it. Mr'P loves the pudding cold with Butter as he cant do Milk and Ill take a box of milk with me to the other rest home. The dietician rang yesterday and she actually agrees with us. Just let him eat what he likes. Its one of the few joys they have when like he is. Gosh the two other men were naughty yesterday. One touching the nurse inappropriately and he got told off then the other was being a grump and fighting with the nurses. They put up with alot of stuff. but both of them were told off too. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-09-2023 chicken nuggets and popcorn for lunch along with half a bottle of tomato sauce lol. Movie is on and everyone is happy RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-09-2023 (30-09-2023, 12:03 PM)kiwimade64 Wrote: chicken nuggets and popcorn for lunch along with half a bottle of tomato sauce lol. Movie is on and everyone is happy Sounds good KM Freezing outdoors with strong winds here big k9 behaving so far RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 30-09-2023 Kiwimade have you ever tried any of the homemade dog biscuit recipes- some kids used to sell them at the dog park - my little fusspot loved the ones with peanut butter who knows what else was in them The supply chain is having another upheaval so there will be gaps on the shelves unless you shop at Costco - they are first in line with the suppliers as it saves them money packing weetbix and eggs in huge quantities rather than the small boxes of weetbix Robie’s pensioners have bought for years - same with eggs he has always stocked a lot of half dozens but the supplier is now selling to Costco in packs of 60.Gone are the days of the overseas owned manufacturer putting on another line of production to cater for the kiwi shopper Went to an interesting lunch today - a 96 year old Japanese man who bought wood chips from my husband 40 years ago and is now buying the chopped up Esk Valley slash from my son .He eats and serves raw food only - he is amazingly healthy but have to admit I made a sandwich when I got home RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-09-2023 What is he making from the slash Jan? I think of that stuff everytime I pour a few more pine pellets into the cat's litter box... RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 30-09-2023 It’s heading to Japan Hunni - it was quicker for a Japanese company to get cracking but hopefully some kiwi companies will come on board - something to do with subsidies - this is the monster that’s eating the slash https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2070786203.jpg RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-10-2023 Morning everyone The sun has just dimmed again... Perfect day to be inside. Hunni Ive been hearing about using the pine pellets for littler. Can you smell anything? Oddly Missy tends to toilet when I do so lumps go. but its the urine that I detest more. How long does a bag last you? Baking this morning. Marshmallow shortcake and Ginger crunch. I might make some vanilla biscuit too. Simple but I love them. And Ill make a steamed pudding later in the day. Sounds like internal politics are happening at thew old rest home too. Dianne offered ages ago to take the painting group. Now they have decided to Move it and do it on a Friday afternoon and have made her redundant. Their excuse is more people are wanting to do it, but its more likely that its cos Dianne is doing it. And they enjoy it. But Management dont like them hanging with us. Ive said to both Dianne and David that the next step will be that they are worried about the food we take in and they will try and stop that too. I can see it coming. Dianne agrees, David is a little bit of a soft touch. I dont think its over, they dont like people sticking up for themselves. If it hits the fan I will go to the papers and media.. The clients are entitled to ahve visits and eat what they like. Right better get my breakfast over and get on in the kitchen. (01-10-2023, 07:30 AM)popeye333 Wrote: Morning everyone I am quite generous with them popeye but even so the 10litre bag lasts me a month or so. The reason I like them is they are easy to scoop, if she bothers to bury there is very little pong, and the pellets breaks down to sawdust when wetted. I clear the box daily and shuffle it around and clean out to scrub once a week, but top up daily so there are always fresh pellets on top. It tracks a little but vacks up easily enough. It is more expensive than the zeolite clay bags, but I can also compost it if the rubbish bag is getting too heavy which is helpful. I get mine from Pet.co.nz, they deliver within 24 hours and if I buy two bags and a little food or something it is free delivery. The only hassle is getting rid of the box it comes in, but she likes that as well, lol. |
