It shocked me the first few times they text but I generally expect it now. Usually the 3rd Thursday of the month is cheap, but also around long weekends etc. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 21-10-2023 Morning all Expecting a fine day Up early as DD and her family are coming over to watch the rugby they are bringing breakfast. I probably will be on amusing DGD1 duty. Need to nip out later to get trim for tunic sewing up for DGD 1 Enjoy the day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-10-2023 morning ladies A tad overcast but that's OK We're up as well to watch the rugby, well, I'll be watching it lol. I want to get those few morning chores done before it starts and will have breakkie while watching the game. Then we'll just play the day by ear and see what happens Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 21-10-2023 Good morning. Sunny and warm ... have the sprinkler going before it gets hot. Managed to get the AB game going on the TV (don't have Sky) ... not sure if that's a good thing. Sometimes better to just check every so often on the Net! Catch up day later inside and out plus niece and baby here for a few hours while her house has an Open Home. They're moving back to the Waikato for job and family. Finished vest at last ... just need to sew up. Another project needed. Go AB's and enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-10-2023 Some days I am glad not to be a rugby fan- and able to sleep in. Looks like a quiet day ahead here, soft and cloudy, so might be good for a bit of a garden playing... RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 21-10-2023 The result we all wanted. Found we could have watch the game Free to Air anyway not via Google No chance of sleeping in at ours ... a bored over-the-back-fence-and-along-one dog wakes us early most days RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-10-2023 Morning everyone Have had a lazy start, Missy wanted cuddles. So did we win? I havent checked yet. It has rained overnight, so wont be doing the lawns or spraying until later anyway. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-10-2023 morning ladies After yesterdays hot temps, I'm not surprised we have fog this morning Yes, popeye, we won. Wasn't as exciting as the quarter final but a win is a win and we're off to the final against whoever wins this morning/evening in Paris. I suspect it will be Sth Africa but my heart is with England. MrK is doing an oil and filter change on the car this morning so while he does that I'll potter about. The freesias have finished so I'll repot them ready for next spring. There is a little bit of weeding amongst the primulas, all small stuff. Plants can be so tough, I ran an iris over with a full wheelbarrow not long ago and it's starting to flower. If I had known that's what it would take to make it flower (it was on its last warning lol) I would have run it over ages ago Once it's too hot to be outside, I'll stitch for a while. happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-10-2023 Morning everyone Glad I got the outside work done yesterday. very gloomy here today. Im not a rugby fan either Hunni. I just like to know who wins lol. And I definitely dont watch netball, especially if its the Australians. They play the person not the game. A quiet day inside today, washing is on. Ill make another pudding and might make some fudge too. The floor needs some attention and the dishes. So not too much to do. We finally have MrP's phone working but man there is alot of feedback. I hear everything I say back. Really annoying. Had a very sad moment yesterday, just worried about the ones with Covid, especially the Two Peters. And it hit me that I could go back this week and they might not be there. Especially old Peter. he is in his 90s and been on oxygen all the time I've known him. He's such a sweet old man. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 22-10-2023 Morning all Fine overcast morning. It seems to be a pattern overcast morni g and sun in afternoon. Hope your friends is OK when you next visit Popeye. Stitched up a cute pinafore tunic yesterday need buttons so another visit to the emporium not sure what I will get up to today after k9 walk. Not a sports watching fan but DH is so I am subliminally Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 22-10-2023 Good morning. Sunny and have the sprinkler on again to encourage the forecast rain, lol. Not expecting any though. The spuds are starting to flower and the tomatoes have flowers forming. Good to get a decent pick of rhubarb that is bright pink once stewed. Great on cereal Have just found out why several police cars up the road last weekend. Guy we know got beaten up standing up for someone being burgled in their shop. The young thugs were caught in the park over the road from us trying to change their (probably bloodied) shirts. Sad that it's not worth risking your life to help anyone. Once upon a time they would have run off, now they get stuck right in No plans, we'll get out for a walk before it gets hot. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-10-2023 Gosh it's getting hot out there already, I have to wear my hat MrK is draining the oil from the car so we'll have a cuppa while that happens. So good he can do this as it saves us $$. Bought the oil and filter yesterday for $62. The oil was on special at Repcos but even when not on special, it's cheaper for him to do it. And he still likes to get his hands dirty, once a mechanic, always a mechanic Kettles boiled, once we've had our cuppa, there are some very bossy aquilegias. to deal to. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-10-2023 (22-10-2023, 08:41 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: Gosh it's getting hot out there already, I have to wear my hat Yesterday I slipped slopped and slapped when I went out to do the lawn. Thankfully there was a good breeze to keep the temp down. It tried lifting my hat. But it meant that I kept the spray nozzle close to the ground. So the Hammies, hips and back are not good. But its done and Ill forget about that until the next time I have done it lol RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-10-2023 morning ladies Boy did we have some thunder late afternoon yesterday. The Furry One was a blithering mess of course. And then the rain came early evening, it bucketed down. Perfect timing for MrK's tomatoes and courgettes he planted yesterday. He had a change of heart about waiting for a late frost I'll have another go at repotting the freesias, never got to them yesterday as I was busy weeding and pottering about. I see Albertine needs to be tied up so that can be part of today's efforts. It feels like I've finally broken the back of the hard stuff and can now get on and garden. If it rains, and I suspect it will looking outside, the thrush will be worked on. I really need to finish this! happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 23-10-2023 Morning Fine day not a cloud in the sky Did a bit of sewing using scraps of cotton spandex yesterday shorts and tshirt with frill sleeve it will be part of DGD1 xmas present, and pink pair shirts for DGD2. Off to gym soon later start today trainer having a lie in Off shopping for carseat for my car today DD cunning plan it will make collecting DGD1 from child care easier no car swapping. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-10-2023 Morning everyone. Cloudy here, but yesterday was another stunning day. Good thinking re the car seat Mica, can be used for multiple bums and then sold on at still good prices. I wish I could garden like you Kiwimade. I do like a nice garden but bending just isn't good for me. Im going to ask my Dr why it hurts so much. I was looking out at the geraniums last night thinking they need tending to, but I can barely put Missys food on the floor let alone bend long enough to pull weeds. Hmm wonder if anyone has a long stool I could sit the pots on. I could still enjoy them and weed alot easier. I have trestle tables but that would be too high. Off to see MrP this morning. Was planning on going to see the girls tomorrow, but as much as we all need each other, its well dangerous for me to go in with so many cases of Covid. Apparently Bobbie was allowed into the lounges yesterday. But also staff arent wearing masks etc. I simply dont want to take the risk of getting it and then being called in for my knee. And if I do I wont be allowed in to see MrP either. Have a fab day everyone.... the road toll is already shocking RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-10-2023 Mitre10 has a good selection of stools, at not too bad prices. Meant to say where the bird seed dropped I have a nice row of plants growing in the crack between the concrete pad and the house. Im leaving them to see what they grow into. Some are slightly taller than the bottom of the ranch slider. Some looked like cabbage plants to start with. Will be interesting to see what they are RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-10-2023 Our blackbird and his partner are working hard feeding their family. The nest is in a camellia bush and I get dirty looks from both birds when I weed there lol. I weeded as quickly as I could lol. The rose I moved is flowering, so I guess it approves of the move. And so it should with all the fert and water it has had. It has to be the most spoilt plant in the garden at the moment. I still practice yoga, popeye, and I put this down to be more flexible Wise move not visiting when covid is around. Kettles boiled, time for a cup of green tea with a slice of lemon and sit in the sun for a bit. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 23-10-2023 Good morning. Overcast here with the sun trying to shine through. A bit cooler. We have a blackbird and his other half in our garden as well. I think the nest must be in the neighbour's tree hanging over our fence. One of the GC was intrigued when I said he (mostly see the male) was my pet blackbird and spent a good part of one afternoon looking for worms for him I didn't let on the bird is fairly self-sufficient on his own. We have no signal on the TV ... so can only stream. Another day yet before paying someone to sort it. I don't think I could be someone with no TV in their life! Agree to stay well away from the risk of Covid Popeye. I've been hearing of a few we know with it in Auckland ... for the first time as well, so it's obviously still doing the rounds. Time for coffee then go for a walk. Enjoy the day. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-10-2023 I have a friend who prides herself on not having a tv. She has three phones and an enormous data buy instead. Somehow I think she is missing the point, lol... |
