RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-10-2023 Been a lovely day Feline bedwarmers are the best OHH Minced grapefruit for 2 batches of marmalade for the freezer this morning. Help sewingvbuddy fit a skirt of a dress she is making, Spent afternoon quilting cot quilt playing with my rulers so it will take a 2-3afternoon sessions to get done Invited friends to dine with us tomorrow so needcto sort out what will be on the menu RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 28-10-2023 Its a gorgeous Lavender KM, in fact if they still have them next week I may be tempted again. Eldest & third eldest granddaughter are coming to visit on Monday early so will be busy tomorrow doing all the stuff usually done on Mondays so that I have some time to spend with them; third eldest is bringing her wee one as well & have only met him once. Hoping he'll open his eyes this time, although I have seen photos of him with eyes open so we'll see. I am very slightly worried since those two together are Very Good At Organising so there's a faint possibility they might want to organise me - which is a scary prospect because I'm certain that if needed, those two could organise an invasion of Europe. On a weekend. In their spare time. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-10-2023 morning ladies A nice fine start to the day so far It's Rugby World Cup Final day!!! Wahooo lol. I'll be the one screaming at the TV, MrK will be the one wearing ear plugs lol. There was a nasty accident on the Kaimai Ranges in the wee hours this morning, two rescue helicopters and the road was/is closed. We tend to go slowly over the Kaimais, thank goodness for passing lanes and pull over bays but we have seen so many take stupid risks. Is saving five minutes really worth it. Time for a quick wander round the garden with my coffee to before the telly is turned on. We never have it on in the morning, so it feels a bit weird watching it at breakfast time. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-10-2023 Morning everyone Clear here a tad chilly tho. Im with you on that Kiwimade. id rather go slower and more careful, letting others passed. Its not worth it. Leave earlier. I must ask your Furry one has seizures? are they epilepsy? A friend in CHCH has a 17 years old Foxy, hm 14 or 17, he's just started having fits. Poor boy woke them up early in the morning with his first and he bit through his tongue. They are shell shocked at the mo. he is wobbly with his walking. And bascially just not him. They are struggling with it all at the mo and I told her about the Furry one. I have to pop up to the supermarket at some stage. And I need to cut some timber down to support the top shelf that I put the pots on. It is bowed. The second layer has pipes as support so Ill just slide some 4 x 2 in to give the top some support. Blardy cheeky birds were noseying at the lettuces so Ill see if I can bend a couple of my old stakes to try and cover them. Im not watching the rugby. And I dont mind who wins. I have family history of South African so either way Ill be happy for whoever wins. Made time to knit yesterday which was nice. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 29-10-2023 Morning all Sunny day DH watching the game I am just having a coffee while my black rice cooks, DH has requested stick coconut black rice for dessert tonight. The mini waffle maker that I bought arrived yesterday its really cute, will have to try that out sometime soon too. Been exploring recipes like the look of potato waffles using raw grated potato others using mashed potato so more options than I first thought. Bought it because though GK would like it, also a sewing friend uses hers to make hamburgers instead of buns my fun toy was going to wrap for Xmas pressies but thats not happening now lol. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-10-2023 Well played, South Africa You deserve the win. A new coach next time round, let's see what Razzor can do Yes, popeye, the Furry One had/has seizures, genuine canine epilepsy. He's on Pexion to help control it but every now and then has a petite mal. We go with the flow. And like people are really tired after a seizure, dogs are too. Your friend's dog is much older though so it will be a tough choice for them to make. Our boy was five when he started having seizures (his first and second seizures were real doozies) so a young dog. There was no question about him being on meds. If he had been an older dog, then it may have been a different story. I'm sure your friend's vet will talk them through their options and help them make whatever choice needs to be made. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-10-2023 (29-10-2023, 09:49 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: Well played, South Africa You deserve the win. A new coach next time round, let's see what Razzor can do Thank you Kiwimade. I didnt realise the Furry one had been having them so long. I will support them in which ever way they go. Hard when your dogs cant be how a dog should be. Mac had 6 wobbly episodes within a few hours which is concerning.. And would be hard to see. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 29-10-2023 Freezing wind out there but sunny. Have just let new cat out for her first look around, about an hour till I feed her so fingers crossed she comes in when called.. Sweetie darling no. 2 & DIL are away on holiday in Thailand just now so wouldn't you know it, Murphy's/sod's law kicked in & I couldn't access youtube, had to call upon sweetie darling no. 4 (eldest grandson) to come & look at it, he managed to sort it out (with far less swearing than his dad) fairly quickly & it was good to have a catch up with him as he & a mate are off to Japan next month to have a look around. Should be interesting for them as neither of them have been anywhere apart from Australia. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-10-2023 Coming home this week from the library visit on the scoot I decided to take a wee side trip to check out a little wetland very close to home. I had heard there were kaka roosting there and I hoped to spot them. No kaka, but instead four glorious white Royal Spoonbills were standing in the shallows, ignoring my spying on them from the grass bank above them. What a treat, such rare and endangered creatures, and here, in the heart of the city. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-10-2023 Morning everyone Wet with a gentle breeze. I am sheltered here tho it could be worse elsewhere, going by the weather reports. Visiting today. Taking an apple turnover up for MrP. I made two very full ones with brown sugar , cinnamon and sultanas in too, so more a strudel. He will enjoy it, one of his fave desserts. Our of two sheets of pastry I got 2 turnovers and two wee jam tarts. I cant say I've ever watched an episode of Friends. Sad when younger people die. So true Hunni. There's a good presence of birds on the golf course behind the home where MrP is. Id never seen herons in flight, they are majestic. There's Plovers, swallows etc. And rabbits. The gardens below their windows have been cleared and replanted so no doubt the Bunnies will probably visit. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-10-2023 morning ladies We're under an orange wind and rain warning, thank you Cyclone Lola. We can see thebig rain band heading our way towards the Kaimais. It will no doubt hit you, Roma, later. What a treat, OHH I read there were kaka roosting in Auckland, how cool is that. Spoonbills are glorious birds. I saw my first one a few weeks ago with a black swan for company at Ohinemutu Village, Rotorua. It was so surprising to see it so far inland, so we guessed it was lost. It was enjoying some of the thermal water around the edges of Lake Rotorua. Hopefully 'yours' will stay and you can enjoy them a bit longer and you get to see the kaka. Man certainly has a lot to answer for with endangered species. Over the last couple of days I have been spending some time working on the thrush and am very happy with it so far. Its speckled look is starting to take shape. Looking at the weather out there, I suspect it will be another day with the needle in hand. happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 30-10-2023 Good morning. It's wet and windy ... expecting more to come! We took our shade sail down to be safe KM. It will be an inside day ... I have a puerperium cardi on the go ... they are easy and quick to finish. But first I have a Dr appointment this morning. A busy weekend with family that included a harbourside walk with GD in her pushchair, a flash playground and pizza ... several times we had to avoid the speeding cyclists despite the signs telling them to watch out for those on foot! The Rugby was disappointing and I found myself doing other stuff rather than sit it out. I'm sure a lot of questions being asked. My son and partner have kaka visit in the big trees overhanging their garden in Welly ... how cool for them. There was plenty of birdlife to point out (entertain) GD in her pushchair outing along the shoreline I used to watch Friends off and on ... agreed Popeye, it's sad when people die young despite their problems in life. Time to get moving. Stay warm and dry all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-10-2023 Morning all Another fine day Hope those up north keep dry and the winds jot too bad. Like sound of your apple turnovers Popeye. Had lovely day yesterday son and his family called in DGS wanted to try the mini waffle maker it works well. We also had a lovely time over wine dinner with our friends too Off to Mitre 10 shortly to get replacement line attachments for clothes line. Of course the computer fi it guy will be sure to phone me while we are out and about Yes lots Kaka in Wellington suburbs a positive of presence of Zealandia Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 30-10-2023 Had a mucked up day today, ther plan was for eldest granddaughter to pick me up & we'd go to visit third eldest granddaughter & their new baby. However newest great grandson had other plans & it turned out that today he would only sleep if either I or eldest granddaughter was holding him. Which was helpful for his mum, who managed to get a few things done while we were there. Not so much for me but I can live with having spent most of the day cuddling newest great grandson. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-10-2023 Great grandparents have their uses !ilith Our plans to go to Mitre 10 scrapped tomorrow another day. Couldn't fix computer remotely so I popped it into their office which is next suburb over 10 min drive (saving the call out and off site fees) fixed in 30 minutes my stuff all restored so over it today so will do what I need to tomorrow. Just sorted out registering a Snapper card tomorrow I will sort out adding concession fare to it so we can travel at half fare at the times gold card tnot able to be used Just nice having a back up. Will sort out DH card tomorrow too just feel like blobbing out my lack of sleep last night is catching up with me. K9s are watching nearly their dinner time RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-10-2023 Have had a lovely Visiting day. MrP's first comment was Don't you have other dresses to wear? I said yes I do but its cold out there, nothing you would understand.. Then of course he enjoyed his turnover. He was happy enough tho. Went and saw the gang and we had a lovely time. Got hugs from both the Guys, hugs were going free today. I think we all needed them. Bobbie was on the same page again. She swears MrP rang her. But she told me 3 times today. Colleen is getting a little repetitive too. And she seems to be getting angry a lot recently. Dianne and I have noticed and one of her Daughters has too. Both Old and Young Peter have survived the Covid. Old Peter is very pale but was out visiting in the lounge. I Whispered in Young Peters ear, not to scare me like that again. Ill now as you ladies, as I asked the gang today. None of us have had Banoffee Pie. I saw one baked on Celebrity Bake off last week. The lady made a pastry base, then the caramel, sliced bananas and mountains of Whipped cream. I googled and they mainly all had a crushed biscuit base. Ive been thinking to do the same pastry base as a lemon meringue pie, then caramel and Bananas, but instead of cream I want to do a meringue topping. Cos MrP and Colleen cant have cream. Im thinking I could just grill the meringue... But Im thinking pastry would be better than trying to bake something in a biscuit base. Do you ladies think it would be ok? Have any of you baked anything with a biscuit base perhaps? rest home David is making a lemon and meringue pie tonight for the first time lol RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-10-2023 I do what I call a banoffee cake, which is my banana cake recipe with a nice strong coffee in the mix and lots of chocolate bits. There are rarely leftovers... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-10-2023 (30-10-2023, 05:24 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: I do what I call a banoffee cake, which is my banana cake recipe with a nice strong coffee in the mix and lots of chocolate bits. There are rarely leftovers... That sounds good. I wouldn't eat it tho lol. I dont drink tea or coffee... Love the smell of coffee tho RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 31-10-2023 morning ladies It would seem Cyclone Lola's leftovers aren't finished with us yet. I would think either would work, popeye and it would come down to personal preference. I've never made a banoffee pie or cake before. Meringue would be nicer than cream too, I think. I have swapped bananas for feijoas though in a cake and it was pretty good. I like your idea of coffee and choc chips in a banana cake, OHH Yesterday thanks to the weather, quite a bit was done on the thrush and it's really starting to look like a thrush with the little speckles down it's chest. There is a small bit I need to unpick as I stitched in the wrong direction and your eye is drawn to it. My first bit of unpicking for a while Time for a quick wander around the garden. The Furry One and I do this every morning, and the Furry One inspects our boundary for 'intruders' while I take a few minutes to set up my day. He's a dog who loves routine lol. He's not spoilt at all I don't think we've had much wind damage but there is a reasonable sized tree branch on the lawn. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 31-10-2023 Morning everyone Wet here but it looks like the wind may have gone. It was horrid yesterday. Rest Home David drove over the Harbour bridge on Sunday, he said it was scary. My ear has decided to mess with umm muscles or the gland and the jaw joint. Started last night, This morning Im only just able to open my mouth enough to eat. So I will call the med center, but it will be through triage, so a go wait and see scenario. Years ago when we were in Mangakino, at the senior Citizens club the widowed and single ladies used to "Borrow" MrP for a cuddle. He used to give great cuddles. Not anymore. He cant stand and a sitting cuddle isn't enough. So I now understand how good it made the ladies feel. I was glad to have to big man cuddles yesterday. Didn't realise I missed them so much. Talking about pies and such, rest Home David has to make a lemon meringue pie today. He thought the Lemon honey was a mix of lemon juice and real honey. We all put him right. but its so much fun having someone trying to make different things too. So long as he does it before he has too much wine on board tho lol. Have a fab day all |
