RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 29-11-2023 What a beautiful rose Kiwimade - the colour is stunning Big cruise ship in port today - buses and classic cars filled with tourists are up and down the street making videos - bit of a grey morning hopes it clears before the ship leaves .Some of the passengers had an exciting start to their day a large shark had become stranded on the town beach and they helped the police get it back out to sea - hope it survives Yesterday one of the local charities were in the supermarket putting up their annual Xmas tree - people are invited to put gifts underneath - while they were out getting more stuff out of their car all their decorations were stolen - unfortunately for the thief she was obviously unaware the foyer has cameras - interesting she is a regular customer with a high business profile around the town - they are waiting for her to return to the store and will invite her to watch the video - how low can you possibly go - many of the decorations were hand made at the local sheltered workshop I ordered one of those crochet thingees from Temu - was only $1.49 so thought if it didn’t work wasn’t a worry - my fingers just aren’t what they used to be so am looking forward to giving it a go My refugee neighbour who thought I would do his washing disappeared a couple of weeks ago - the ladies from the charity organisation who look after the place have washed their hands of it - landlord tried to cancel her lease with the government before the election but Housing NZ refused maybe the new government will oblige - she wants to let it herself to a family but this morning a security company arrived with another young man with only an overnight bag so he obviously is just here temporarily- it’s a lovely house fully fenced with a nice garden - surely if there isn’t a refugee family to move into it a kiwi family living in a motel should be RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-11-2023 We had two cruise ships leave port in the last day or so, both piped songs as they left the harbour, rather fun and a change from the usual toot toot... Thank you for the Westerland, always makes me smile. No wonder my marriage was so wonderful, blessed on that cool Autumn day by such a glorious flower... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-11-2023 Such a beautiful rose Kiwimade. Been another successful day with Bobbie. She was a little bit annoyed that I hadn't done the dress but she understood too. We have chosen the lace for the bottom. And Im taking her shopping on Friday... I have put 2 dresses and a skirt on hold at the Oppy, so we will go there and then over to Pukekohe to the Warehouse and Postle plus. BUTTTT I managed to get her to try and do some painting.. And she did. Of course I forgot to make sure she had her glasses, so I did the edges and she filled in. Dianne will keep trying to get her to do it every Wednesday. Had a text from Rest Home David this morning, could he ring it was important.. Campbell has Covid. He is sooo scared and worried that he wont pull through. He came in while I was still there and had some lunch cos I made him. he missed breakfast.. And then he was hoping to gown up and go visit Campbell. Colleen says no one seems to know what Happened to Campbell. He used to do holiday tours etc in Africa and they think he possibly contracted something over there that has affected him mentally and physically. I will ask oneday, but not now. Its his birthday we were planning and have decided to still do. yep Im repeating myself. I am scared for them Both. I read that NZ breeders are going to stop breeding Munstead Wood here in favour of more modern roses. I've heard good things about Auckland Metro Our Munstead Wood has spectacular thorns; last season when it nearly died all that was left was one stout stem so thickly encrusted with thorns that it could have been a mediaeval battle weapon. It would be a shame if the growers stopped propagating it though, every rose has its happy place. I have to say though that I haven't had huge success with Austin roses. When we moved here from Auckland I was so thrilled to have the chance to grow roses (Auckland is too humid) that I planned a rose bed entirely planted with Austins. One by one most of them came to grief, including Lady of Shallot and Claire Austin, and the only ones still thriving are Falstaff and Molineux, with Munstead Wood now starting to come right. I hadn't intended to get into hybrid teas until I met Compassion and now we have several (with more to come if I get my way). I've also just bought Abraham Darby, which is so far looking happy (see attached, with Westerland, Molineux and Munstead Wood). And she's definitely quite athletic, too. As to the 'you can train them' - I suspect not in this case. The only training being done is of me, by her.... She wasn't best pleased today when I was a few minutes late with her dinner. There was some very loud yowling at the door, pointing out that dinner was in fact due 4 minutes ago.. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-11-2023 morning ladies A bright start to the day so far. We had a bossy cat as well, a half wild tabby that ruled the house with an iron paw. Even the dogs moved out of her way when she walked by. We called her QB or Queen Bi*** as that's exactly what she was. My sister-in-law is visiting today and bringing the camellia we swapped our new one for. This should finish the espaliering along the fenceline. Can't wait to have that bit 'done'. She will be bringing her two big dogs so the Furry One will be exhausted by the time they leave. He loves playing with them though, and it's so funny to see him run under their tummies. My other sister-in-law's dog jumps over them when they are playing lol. Just as well we have plenty of space for them all to run around madly. But first I'll take my friends granddaughter to work. Her shift clashes with my friends and she doesn't drive yet. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-11-2023 Morning everyone Gloomy grey here. I didnt see the weather last night so will have to take note shortly. Was a warmish night. Off to do my bloods this morning, and grab some drink and milk. Then Ill come home and see if I can sort Bobbies dress out. And pretty much relax cos tomorrow is going to be a big day for my knees and back. Ill put a pudding on tho. Im stuck with Weetbix this morning and its not satisfying me as much as pudding does. Nrty but it works out nearly as cheap as cereal lol. Need to catch up with Maureen and Pat too and make sure they are ok. MrP said last night that Ken has Covid, which is scary. thank goodness none of them can visit, but being in the same room is dangerous. He does seem to be handling the lock down better than previous times. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-11-2023 Morning all Fine day here Slow start this morning, managed to get to sewing cave yesterday and cut out new dress nhalf way done. Let's hope this one looks OK really want a new dress for Xmas. Picked up DGD1 from daycare yesterday bought her home and fed her and she had a good run around before we took her home for bed. Still managed to attend an online webinar later so a productive sort of day. My morning at the warehouse today so got to remember to take the repaired merino garments with me I have a habit of putting them on the bench and promptly forgetting to grab Hope MrP avoids covid Popeye Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-12-2023 Morning everyone Yep early today. Its the Christmas Day at our best Chemist. And I like to be the first one in the door. Not sure how the standing is going to work, and then to go shopping with Bobbie. but Im taking meds with me lol. MrP still say's that Ken has covid. But I haven't been told, so he could be dreaming it. His phone is messed up again. and Im sure he sits there wriggling it. Its bloody annoying and quite Frankly I'm over it. And if I ring their phone he cant hear. Argghhh !!!! Taking Bobbie to Pukekohe today, so I will ring the home and ask that she is ready when I get there cos I dont want to walk down to her. Shes right at the back. And any walking I can save , the better. I have my power rebate and am able to spoil myself a little if I find something I like. Funny tho, when you dont have money there's lots of things you want, but when you have it, nothing seems to matter. But Ive topped up my internet for a year and my phone for 6 months. And once Medic Alert get back to me on how to pay that, that will be done too. Im staying away from Spotlight tho.... Although lol I got a Christmas stocking at the oppy the other day to use as a pattern. So I might just pop in and see what Christmas fabric they have lol. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-12-2023 morning ladies It's a tad overcast but we're expecting sunshine. The garden is dry so may have to put the hose on. Dammm MrK has just figured out what I'm buying him for Christmas lol. Oh well, better he knows I suppose so I get the right thing. But I really wanted it to be a surprise. The Furry One had a ball yesterday with his two big 'cousins'. Omg he raced around and kept up with the younger dogs. And he put the border collie cross in her place just nicely By the evening he was completely knackered and out cold on the sofa lol. Today we will plant the last camellia to be espaliered and that's a whole garden pretty much planted with the permanent shrubs. It's been a long time coming but it's done. Housework today and then I can chill out for a bit. Enjoy your day out, popeye happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-12-2023 (01-12-2023, 05:55 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies It's a tad overcast but we're expecting sunshine. Although she did stick close when we went to the supermarket one day. lol. Im deciding if Ill wear my mask in the car. She has had covid and theres soo much in her rest home. I probably will but I wont feel happy about it RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 01-12-2023 Morning all Windy Enjoy your day out Popeye. Going to put up xmas tree this morning, we have friends coming for dinner. We havingvroast lamb and I am making plum pudding using the slow cooker.. So it will be a day of domestic stuff Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 01-12-2023 Good morning. Sunny ... there may be showers later in the day, we'll see. The sprinkler will be going on later regardless. It doesn't take much to dry out here especially if there's been wind. A bit bleary eyed after a K9 with a tummy bug last night ... damned cats that use our garden (under the shrubs) as a toilet and even worse dog who thanks them Niece and baby calling in this morning ... they only have a few weeks left living here in the Bay ... off to mum and dad's until they find a house. About to bake some blueberry muffins and I have the Christmas cake ingredients sitting on the bench as a reminder that is still waiting to be done! Have fun today Popeye, enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-12-2023 No dinner for the Furry One tonight. A rabbit has been chased, caught, killed and eaten. Omg his tummy is so round lol. And he looks very pleased with himself. Not bad for a nearly 13 year old dog. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 01-12-2023 Lol KM, what would you do without your very own pest control expert! We couldn't have been without our burmese boy ... must have caught 1000's of the pests over his lifetime! The JR on duty before him RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-12-2023 lol roma, we would be lost. We can't shoot the rabbits as we are too close to a road so we rely on the Furry One to do his job. We never trained him to do it, it's just pure instinct. Our vet loves it lol. She said it's so good to see a dog who was bred for hunting being allowed to hunt. There is not a scrap left of the rabbit, every bit of it has been eaten. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 01-12-2023 Hope your day goes smoothly Popeye & the outing is a success. Well done, the furry one - rabbits 0, Furry one 1. Yesterday I was at the computer working on the second to last of the wee one's paintings when a movement by the door caught my eye - Madame Le Dog up on her hind legs, with the door handle gently but firmly between her teeth, was turning the handle & opening the door - smartarse dog! This means that she can now potentially open any inside door as well as the back door from both inside & outside. She can at least be prevented from opening the outside door if its locked, thankfully. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 01-12-2023 Lol Lilith what a clever dog Madam le Dog is obviously lives in a n enriched environment KM the furry one is certainly a good lagamorph hunter. All the prep for dinner on track , xmas tree up Not sure what I will do for rest afternoon, it is heating up so have all the doors and windows open |
