It looks really lovely KM.  I like the way you have framed it with plenty of space around the image.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-01-2024

morning ladies and thank you for the kind comments you have made about the thrush. Overall, I am very happy with it and very pleased to have it finally finished.

It's going to be a hot one today and no doubt there will be lots of cars on the road with people heading home after their two weeks holiday. There have been so many accidents on the Kaimai Ranges, it's crazy!

MrK wants to visit his old boyhood haunts and we're planning to do that after the school holidays at some stage. Neither of us do crowds very well and this could be MrK's last chance to do this so I would like it to be the way he wants it.

We have an appointment to have MrK's melanoma removed on the 30th. It definitely pays to be priority one!

Our friends aren't too happy with us after we told them MrK will no longer be looking after their dogs, garden and pool while they are on holiday or when they go away to the batch/crib. He is just too wobbly on his feet and lately has been feeling like he has been taken for granted. They have just assumed he would do it and were quite shocked when he said no more. MrK is feeling a bit guilty, but I pointed out to him that all of it is their responsibility, not his, and he has the right to say no more. It will free us up to do what we want, when we want as it takes a big chunk out of both ends of the day. I saw a t shirt on FB saying with a funny retirement saying so I took a punt and ordered it for MrK. Hopefully it will make him laugh Smile

Happy crafting

Morning everyone

Coolish at the moment. But its clear as out there. Will be a hot one for sure.

Your friends will hurt for a while Kiwimade, but I think you made the right desicion. You need to look after you guys now.

We took Mum on a journey around her old Haunts etc. its good for you I think.. Im planning a trip to Thames , hopefully on June 21st. It will be 50 years since dad died. And I want to gather my Aunts as well, since they are all without about 30 minutes of each other.
Im hoping it will be my last trip that way. Well it will be, cos I then need to save everything I can for my Big move. And my knee will be recovered enough to drive that distance.

Have had 9 sales in the last week or so. I've enjoyed it. I've been able to stock up on the important things like magnesium and benefibre lol.

I am tempted, and lets face it I know Im going to buy them. Some Tupperware coasters, of which I've never seen before and they will suite my display. So that's my next job. lol

Got my new weed sprayer with the longer wand so Ill put that together today and hopefully get some of the spraying done.

Have a fab day everyone

Brought them.. Paid $18 with free shipping. then googled and found this.. Got a good buy.. Ive never seen them like this

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-01-2024

Useful things, lists. I have a few of them. For future consideration, lol...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-01-2024

lol I use lists as well and the windows is on it near the very bottom Tongue I ticked a 'want' off my 'want' list yesterday and had my ears pierced for the second time Big Grin

I've turned the plum windfalls into plum sauce and omg it's good. Nice and tart (like me Tongue ) just the way we like it. Homemade sauce always seems to make the commercial stuff too sweet for us. I'm sure they make it that way so people will buy more.

MrK has a row of butter beans in and we are looking forward to picking them.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-01-2024

Im a list person Too. Its good to tick things off.

Well done on the second piercing Kiwimade. Much to my mothers disgust I got mine done one day when I was about 18-19.. I was always planning to, and had put my fave original studs in my purse and carried them around for ages. Then one day I was bored and had time to kill so had them done lol. Mind you mother wasn't happy about the first time either, My eldest brother paid for both us girls to have them done, they both being older decided not to tell Mum they were having mine done at the same time. I was 12 lol. oops

I have my new sprayer.. I hope to get some done later now it has fined up nicely.

Kiwimade - which recipe did you use for the sauce ? I always used Mums recipe but couldn’t find it last year so tried another and it was very disappointing- had a feeling Mums might have been her mums

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-01-2024

When we were first married and I was into pickling, making jams and sauces etc, my mother-in-law gave me a very old pickling book with the best plum sauce recipe. It's in pounds and ounces which is ok for me as my baking scales have both imperial and metric. If you would like it Jan, I'm happy to post the recipe here for you.

RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 07-01-2024

If you wouldn’t mind kiwimade - would appreciate it.I used to cook it outside on the BBQ in Taupo - one day my husband went down to the boat ramp below us to put the boat in - gave me a call to tell me everybody was talking about the smell and how annoying it would be living next door to whatever was being cooked

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-01-2024

But plum sauce doesn't smell bad? Unless someone is allergic to a bit of spiced hot vinegar..

Sensitive wee sausages.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-01-2024

Lol I love the smell of Pickles, Sauces etc cooking. Clear's those sinuses lol

Ohhh Im in Love with my new sprayer... Please stay fine a bit longer lol... Had to get the neighbour to open the spray bottle. They have covid... I came straight back and washed everything lol.

I didn't have to bend at All... And its 5 litres, so only needed 1.5 tanks.. But it has two really cool features... A Wide spout/ funnel on the top for ease of filling, which is good cos I have a shower head in the tub in the garage, and a clip so you dont have to hold pressure on the gun. Which is wonderful for my stupid hands. So I was done in an hour.
Money well spent..

Im going to watch the new show on Bravo, Swedish Death Cleaning... Im not sure what Death has got to do with it, unless its after you lose someone or something, but time will tell.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-01-2024

Morning everyone

Yay it hasn't rained so the spray should be good.

Up early for the Sewing Bee, even tho its a repeat its worth watching again.

I watched the Swedish Death Cleaning, and the whole time I thought, She talks Like Trump... but it was interesting.

Visiting day today so sort of a day off I guess, but the sitting sucks lol..

I was going to take my talking piece but RH David wont be there, and as he is a Nurseryman, I want his answer as to why a Vase needs to be microwave proof lol.. Ill take it on Friday instead.

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-01-2024

morning ladies Smile  A slightly overcast start to the day, perfect for watering.

lol, a microwave proof vase!  I can only think the makers thought it could be used for other things.

Jan, here's the recipe for you Smile

Plum Sauce, makes around 5 cups

4 lb dark plums
8 oz onions
4 oz sultanas (I use raisons if I don't have sultanas)
2  teaspoons each allspice, peppercorns, mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (I sometimes leave this out)
1 inch piece of root ginger bruised (I used a good dollop of bottled crushed ginger this time as I couldn't buy root ginger)
1 pint malt brown vinegar
2 tablespoons salt
8 oz brown sugar

Wash and chop plums, peel and chop onions.  Place plums and onions in your cooking pan with the sultanas, spices and half the vinegar. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for around 30 minutes or until the plums are soft and pulpy.  The recipe says to rub the fruit through a sieve, but I leave it to cool for a bit and blitz it in the food processor in small batches.  Return sauce to a rinsed pan.  Add the remaining salt, vinegar and sugar.  Bring to the boil again, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.  Simmer stirring occasionally until the sauce is beginning to thicken.  Pour hot sauce into hot clean bottles and seal at once.

Enjoy!

We are picking plums every day now in a race against the birds.  We don't mind sharing but would like a few for ourselves lol.  I have another batch of plums prepared for cooking this morning in the fridge and will get into the kitchen once MrK has had his breakfast.

The other plan for the day is to empty out the garden shed and have a big sort out.  We've decided to sell our fishing gear as we haven't been fishing for years but to get to it, we have to empty the shed lol. Time to make those familiar piles: keep, sell, donate, recycle/biff.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-01-2024

Looks good out there, blue with small clouds and coolish, no doubt it will warm up. Just housework today and more outdoor deck sorting. I am reducing the number of pots, fewer to look after now I have the two bigger raised garden planters on legs to replace small ones. Should make maintenance easier.

Which reminds me of a farcebook post that made me grin yesterday - the poster spelt maintenance in a very strange phonetic way, but got the complicated aquatic plants latin name bang to rights. It was a rather lovely illustration of how we reveal our passions...
