This heat is unbearable.

I've got two fans on me now.

Ducked over to help Maureen the guy delivered the new gas bottle, did he turn it on Nooooo. The idiot.

Tried to fill one of the forms in online. And sent it back, asked them to let me know if it worked. And of course they haven't. Not my fault if it messes their end up.

Hate summer.. hate summer

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-01-2024

morning ladies Smile Looks like the rain is coming Big Grin Big Grin

It's still hot and sticky at night, we are so thankful we listened to a friend and put a ceiling fan in our bedroom when we did all the alterations to the house.

Yep, that falling down feeling is not nice at all. I even felt physically sick afterwards, so it was quite the landing. My knee is sore, but the bruise isn't showing properly yet. It's going to be a long day as I'm driving our friend to his hospital appointment today. Might take some panadol with me.

I'm sorry Jan, but I had to giggle when I read your post. I've done that too lol. Wondering why the pot isn't boiling to find I had turned the wrong element on. Once I had a lovely pottery dish on the element I turned on by mistake and of course the heat broke it.

Better get cracking, our friend has an early appointment Smile

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-01-2024

Morning everyone,

Ouchies Kiwimade. I remember falling backwards a couple of times.. not nice.

Sometimes through the night I thought if they want to come and pick up the blasted papers why cant they bring them so I can fill them in. So Ill ring them shortly. Too bad if it costs extra. I told them doing things online might work for them but not everyone.

So Hopefully Ill get that sorted. And Ill ring Winz and the Home. Since they got a new payment on the Tuesday and he died 2 days later I do wonder if I am entitled to any sort of refund. The Gang suggested I ask.

Had a lovely time with the girls. I managed to get Bobbies pants so will tutu with those and run up a couple of simple skirts for her too.

Madam must have stepped on the tv remote sometime through the night lol.. Woke up to it blaring away.. Shes far too clever. Actually I have a nice chrome box I could sit them both in and she couldnt do that again lol.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 23-01-2024

morning all
heavy rain and strong wind in the wee hours, sunny at the moment.

ouchies KM.

Had lovely visit with sewing friend across town, traffic wasn't too bad which is good as it was very hot >30 which is hot in our neck of the woods.

DD and her family turned up with meat and nibbles inviting themselves to eat with us last night. DGD1 loves to have a spa bath before going home for bed.

not sure what is on our agenda this morning DH out walking k9s before it gets too hot, had thought might go and try new to us cafe to do a reconnaissance  to  see if it will be suitable for our next monthly lunch out with two other couples - its our way to keep in touch and our turn to select the venue.

Only side seams and hem to do on summer dress I started making over the weekend - just got to decide which dress goes out in the op bag.

Enjoy your day

Popeye - don’t ask if you are due a refund - ask when the refund will be done - obviously the money should be repaid but sometimes the right thing isn’t done
Going to be 31 deg today - thank goodness I have the heat pump I would expire

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-01-2024

That was a quick trip to Waikato Hospital Smile Pays to have the early appointments.

Yep Jan, we use our air con as well. We use the Furry One being old and not coping with the heat as an excuse but really, we love it. And I pay our power bill fortnightly so no big surprises when the bill comes in.

The embroidery fabric I ordered was sent by courier yesterday and arrived today. Considering it came from Rangiora and we live in the Waikato, I am very very impressed with NZ Post.

Now to do the cutting and hemming. I'm thinking of some drawn thread for the hem just to jazz it up a bit. I'll have a tutu with different hems on my practice piece.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 23-01-2024

I think Jan's right, Popeye, just ask when the refund can be expected. That seems reasonable.

Supposedly we were getting lots of rain & it was likely to be colder,so did groceries & dog walk eary ...yeah, nah, not so much. Sweltering earlier & approximately 43 drops of rain, but has now cooled slightly so we may get more rain later if we're lucky - hope so, we need it.

I've come up with a way to prevent Madame Le Cat from sneaking into Madame Le Dog's crate - when I see her checing it out I yell 'No!' which so far, has worked a treat.

However...its possible that she has an extremely sneaky style of revenge. Suddenly, the cat food she's always liked just isn't what she wants. At all, not even a little bit, no thank you, & she doesn't want even a tiny bit of dogroll whch she's previously adored.
So I got three different types of tinned catfood & one of those ridiculously overpriced packets of 3 pouches...I have a sneaking suspicion the one to find favour is going to be the overpriced variety. Bloody cat!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-01-2024

Well its been a morning and a half.

The funeral home and I talked, filled the forms in on the phone and they are bringing them down for me to sign today.

Winz have been helpful, as have the bank. Thank goodness we had a joint account so I wont have to change anything like our APs etc.

The Home said I have to ask Winz for the refund . She said they will only invoice for the days he was there. So i will ask on Tuesday.

Rang the Drs about MrP's Toe. I somehow didn't think it would be ok to throw it in the rubbish. Got the receptionist I like. She spoke to a Dr and They suggested putting it in the garden, but she said in the 40 plus years she has been in the job no one had ever asked that .lol

Then of course the Funeral said they would come down so Im sending it back with them lol

So the worst of it is done. And I get his Money for 28 days.

And I have to change benefits so that requires a Medical certificate, Bonus for time cos I need a new script lol.

Ive always known, but its actually hard for me when people are kind to me. So takes a bit of getting used to.

Its still nice and cool. Ive def enjoyed it.

My Mum's date of death was also just aftet a payment, and I asked when the refund would be processed, only to be invoiced for all sorts of strange things, lol. I tore it up and never heard anything more...

That was a Bupa run facility.

Still hot here, with periodic heavy showers. Sticky. But my new fishes are on route fromWellington. First time I have had fish shipped,  am looking forward to unboxing that delivery tomorrow!

I get a couple of boxes of those Petite Delights packs, for hot days. The smaller amount means less waste if it gets rejected. Which it often is. Just now she's being picky over the hard tack.

Tough... Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 23-01-2024

The furry little sod didn't eat from last night right through until this evening, when I gave her a different catfood, tinned, which appeared to meet with her approval.

For now...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 24-01-2024

morning ladies Smile What a lovely cool evening and so far so good!

Am glad you are getting things sorted, popeye. WINZ can be kind when they choose to.

Fingers crossed for your fishies, OHH. I guess most things can be posted these days! They even have pet couriers now.

lol Lilith, we had a cat who refused her food for 10 days. It was me who caved, not her. The Furry One is being picky with his food as well and I think it's the heat. Eating creates more body warmth and they are hot enough with fur.

We had a bit of drama on our road last evening. I came home from picking MrK up from having a beer with his mates to find an ambulance in the neighbours drive and it wasn't the ambulance our other neighbour drives either. Turns out her littlest one swallowed a small ball/marble from the Hungry Hippo game. It meant a trip to Waikato for an x ray to make sure the ball was at the bottom of his tummy so he could pass it and not stuck anywhere. I followed with her other kids so she had a ride home. All was good Smile and he should pass it today. But a timely reminder about small kids and small parts.

I'm back out in the garden this morning and am hoping to finish the weeding.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 24-01-2024

Morning everyone

Its lovely at the mo. I am glad it was cooler yesterday tho. I wouldn't have got all done that I needed to.

Wow Kiwimade, scary isn't it what kids will pop in their mouths. Glad it wasn't a lot worse.

Have to nip up for some drink and milk, then Im going to sew. I'm going to see if I can sort the fly out somehow and put some elastic on the band. Will sew a cover to put the elastic in. Then Im going to whip up a couple of simple skirts. Tempted to use the Tartan I was going to make me some trousers out of. Easier to match one side seam than several lol.

Its actually nice to have an Extra day lol.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 24-01-2024

Morning all
Fine day

OHH hope your finned ones arrive safely.

Yesterdays cafe reconasaince  successful nice coffee food looked good. It is a training cafe located in a let say  people more disadvantaged cafe trains people up and has a high success rate of them finding good jobs. So booked for next month.
I finished my dress yesterday and whipped up a new pair togs for DGD1 in purple lycra
Emergency pick up DGD1 as her dad had a bad migraine  she loved the togs and they were the first thing she showed  her mum when she got home had to wear them in the bath before bed so they have had a trial run  Big Grin

Forgot to share on Sunday when it was greater than 30 degrees I made a slushies using  rose wine it was deemed a roaring success.

Got to get k9 and feline food this morning then not sure what I will get up to

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-01-2024

Wine slushies? Now there's an idea I could steal! Amazing though just how much of a difference to everything a few degrees makes. I pulled up the bedspread last night, the sheet wasn't quite enough, and slept through from 11pm to 5am without even turning over. And now I wait for the courier, lol...

And once they are settled, off for my usual Wednesday socialising. The weather looks perfect for scooting!

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 24-01-2024

Good morning.

Oh what a difference all those degrees knocked off the temperature make! Long may it last.

Wine slushies lol, we've certainly been going through a lot of ice at least in recent times.

Hope the fish arrive safely and do well OHH.  I'm still honing in on pages that feature cats especially those that are needing homes - I .. shall ..  not .. cave .. in! Meanwhile, I'll just enjoy hearing about the antics of resident cats (and dogs) within this thread, lol!

Always a scary time when kids put things where they shouldn't ... you are a good neighbour KM. Speaking of which we may or may not have a new neighbour if the house next door sells at auction tomorrow.

Today might be a day to get outside and spend a bit more time. I tend to do short weed/tidy up sessions as I walk past said problem.

This weekend we are travelling to Auckland for a wedding ... always an enjoyable occasion.

Late cuppa finished, time to move.

Have a great day.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 24-01-2024

Wine slushies! OOhhhhh I wonder if I could do whiskey ones Tongue

I was reliably informed by the six year old in the back seat last evening that the rescue helicopter gets to the hospital quicker as there are no traffic lights or signs in the sky! Now, why on earth didn't I think of that lol. This tidbit of information was disclosed while we were at a red light and watching the rescue helicopter take to the skies. I must tell our ambulance officer next door the reason why he takes longer to get his patients to hospital lol. Heart

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-01-2024

Gorgeous teeny fishes, and the seller gave me extras, so I am very happy. So far they look happy and active, and eating well. Both adult females very pregnant too, (these are live bearing fish!) so the tank should be full of life very soon.

What fun!

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 24-01-2024

Glad the wee fishies arrived safely, Hunni.

Whyever didn't we think of that, KM!

Slightly cooler today so mowed front lawn despite rain last night then did a quick zip over to mall to get two of those scrunchie things. Now that it's so hot I tend to wear lighter weight fabric trousers on the bike, but they're wider & was concerned lest they get caught in chain as there's no guard, & although I've had a look in one or two places, can't find any of those old bicycle clips people used decades ago; so will try the scrunchies & see how that goes.
Madame Le Cat is clearly pleased with the change in diet & being very, very smoochy this morning; its probably from page 1 in her How to train your human manual. Bloody cat!

RE: You can never have enough... - zqwerty - 24-01-2024

Bicycle clips are put on from back of heel to front of leg not the other way around as everyone in NZ seems to do.

I can remember my step Grandad doing that - but then, he was Welsh. Smile
