RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-03-2024 The garden is ready for the arborists early Friday morning. I know they could work around what was left in there, but my thoughts are why not make it easier for them. And what was moved wasn't coping very well with the suddenness of full sun all day after having dappled shade. MrK's having another blood test. His INR levels need to go back up after his surgery and are remaining stubbornly low. That's normal for him though, and he knows how to manage it. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-03-2024 General anaesthetics can play merry hell with our bodies. Takes a while to get back to our own normal after one. With these DNA testing sites even the faintest trace gets noted, and so with that, I'm actually a Viking. Ha! Me too - well, sort of. 1% Norwegian & 1/2 % Danish/Swedish, so there must be a Viking in there somewhere; mind you, its very common with Scots ancestry. Split some chives & re potted earlier, (a granddaughter wants some) & then picked up the windfall apples, some for compost & the better ones for cooking something or other at some point when the mood takes me. We had an entire ten minutes of rain the other day & a clap of thunder, (after they'd predicted day long rain & thunder storms) & then the sun came out & dried it all up again. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-03-2024 lol I have the same ancestry, Swedish, Norwegian & Danish. And lotttssss of American. Not too thrilled about the American bit lol RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 06-03-2024 Quick thanks for the good wishes. Poor man (and the surgeon) endured 6 hours of surgery face down so pretty swollen face and all the "attachments" slowly getting weaned off. The automated leg massager looks rather pleasant though RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-03-2024 Glad it went well Roma. Saw the girls. Ill give it to Colleen she isn't scared to speak up. she had a go at Annie for asking people for money for smokes... She owes countless people in the home and a couple of cafes in town too. I was busy talking to Bobbie and didn't hear them start. But I did thank Colleen, I didn't want to upset anyone, but as Colleen said if none of us bring her up on it, it wont stop.. and Colleen knows I dont have money to buy smokes for anyone. Unfortunately David had arrived and was there for it too and he went off to calm Annie.. Which was nice but not good either in a way. Cos he has paid for smokes twice and he doesn't have much to throw away either. It got back to normal thankfully. Bobbie and I were both wearing lavender tops.. Both from the oppy lol.. I must have a look at the photos cos David took a couple on my phone. Oh its not too bad actually lol. Waiting for Contact to ring me. They will only have accounts in single names now, and apparently they are putting mine in Davids name.. Im going to tell them he is dead and they are welcome to put it in his name but I wont be paying it, so Mine would be best RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-03-2024 Well, I had an interesting day. Got down to Devonport, library'ed, coffee'd, plant shopped and got groceries... And the scoot died. So, she is sitting in a mechanics workshop for safekeeping, he can't fix her, but will look after her for me and I need to sort repairs. By Friday... And I bussed home! Which was both scary and confidence building - the new hip stood up to the unexpected exercise quite well, so I am pleased with that. But not so delighted at the prospect of the repair bill... dammit, just as the savings account was looking slightly well padded. As opposed to starving, lol. Life is full of little surprises these days... (06-03-2024, 02:24 PM)popeye333 Wrote: Glad it went well Roma. Love it popeye. It is always fun to hear the dead silence on the other end of the phone when we break the news to these people... That's good news Roma, hope he has a speedy recovery. (06-03-2024, 02:35 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Well, I had an interesting day. It happens every damnned time - get ahead a tiny bit, & something is bound to crop up; hope the scoot proves easy - & cheap - to fix. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-03-2024 morning ladies Another lovely autum day on the way. I love autum ohh buggar, OHH. That's usually the way isn't it. Get a few $$$$ tucked away and something happens. Life can be a tad sucky with stuff like that. lol popeye, I would love to see their faces when you tell them that... maybe they could organise an automatic payment through divine intervention. I wonder why they have accounts in one person's name now. One more sleep before the remainder of the tree comes down. Can't wait. And we are still waiting on the sparkie who is waiting on the powers that be about our switchboard. MrK doesn't want to 'bother' them by asking about it so I will if we haven't heard anything in a couple of days. On the agenda today is lawnmowing the bits where the tree won't be falling and maybe a bit more pruning. I Westerland needs tying back and Albertine needs a good cut back as she is constantly trying to take over the world. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-03-2024 Morning everyone. The dressing gown is out of the wardrobe lol. Yeah I dont know why they are changing the bills to one name only. But Id like to know why they chose MrP's name and not mine. Rather sexist. And for women getting something like a power bill in their name adds to their credit history. They didn't ring back. So I will ring again shortly and simply wait. A home day today, which is odd lol.. but Ill do my shopping on the way home tomorrow. Make the most of being near a pak n save. Ill get a bit more done in the sewing room today tho. Oh Hunni not good re the scooter. But well done on managing with the bus etc. Last time I went on a bus would have been Julyish 2002. Hired for CWI. Its one thing Im not comfortable with. Catching public buses and hoping I catch the right one. It scares the hebbie geebies out of me lol Hope Mr R is recovering well Roma. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-03-2024 Boy, I am sore this morning, lol! All those walking muscles just aren't used to serious effort. But at least I know they are still active and not wasted away like a few others I could mention. But gardening on the plan for today, that'll loosen things up a bit for sure. So long as the rain stays away - looks a bit dodgy out there, and I am procrastinating on the housework... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-03-2024 Six hours of surgery on MrR's tummy! And I thought two for MrK was a lot. As much of the lawn that can be mowed has been and I've relented and used a weedkiller around the back of the house. It was so cold I could see my breath! Dishes to do and then I'll tie the roses up and cut Blackberry Nip back in preparation for her move to the 'new' garden. It didn't flower at all this season, so I suspect it wasn't in the right place anyway. It's the perfect day weatherwise to be out in the garden. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-03-2024 It is indeed, cool and silvery. I planted 18 white primula seedlings, my only nod to formality in my wild garden beds. They make such a gorgeous border show at just the right time when we need brightening. And I noticed all the rose impatiens seed that escaped my collecting is sprouting all over the place, so I might chuck a bit more of that around, such a pretty thing and excellent cover to shade out the weeds. And then I need to start on the peach tree... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 07-03-2024 Successful hunting this morning, now have three more main gifts for upcoming birthdays, just a few fripperies to get & that'll be the next two lots done. Slightly difficult, having one or two clusters of birthdays but managed as long as I remember to keep ahead of them. Tomatoes almost ready out there, have been picking vine tomatoes for a while & now the beefsteak ones are almost ready. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-03-2024 Oh, and scoot picked up, and carted off to hospital, back next week! I can stop worrying... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 07-03-2024 (07-03-2024, 10:43 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Oh, and scoot picked up, and carted off to hospital, back next week! I can stop worrying... Well that's good news, hope its a swift return, & cheap. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-03-2024 Well, at least I get to add another super payment to the kitty, lol. That will help... RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 07-03-2024 afternoon thought that I had posted this morning obviously not Hope that the scooter doesn't need an expensive repair OHH. done my stint at warehouse , food hunt completed. DS and 2 GK are coming for dinner tonight as DIL is in Auckland Popped into Spotlight yesterday to get some blue homespun for the sashing of my crumb blocks - my luck they had 30% of all fabric so added a souple of wide backings to the pile. I have used a turquoise for the sashing so the quilt top looks nice and bright. the webbing that has a clip which attaches the poo bag bag came off so will need to make a new one this afternoon RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-03-2024 Off at Sparrows fart tomorrow Ladies. Pre-op check and the Girls photography session lol.. mammogram. Have a good day... Hopefully they might give me a date tomorrow, so Ill post it if I do RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 08-03-2024 Morning all Not been out yet leisurely start with read in bed Good reasons for early start Popeye. Hope the tree removal goes smoothly KM Bit house tidy up this morning then joining friends for lunch. Enjoy your day |
