RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-03-2024 MrK had to wear those stockings until he was back on the warfarin and yep, they are a PITA to get on and off. I wondered if the needles for the clexane is a tad finer than the jabs MrK had before as he didn't bruise much either compared to the last time. RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 17-03-2024 Beautiful evening in the Bay - have finally finished my sauce / relish mission - very pretty with it -one of the other flat mates in my granddaughters uni flat grows tomato commercially so the tomatoes were big beautiful beefsteak - I roasted them and the garlic before turning them into ordinary and pasta sauce - tried one batch using your plum sauce recipe Kiwimade with an extra pinch of cayenne - it’s delicious .Don’t want to see my stock pots for a long time - they eat a lot of spaghetti bolognese so the Passata sauce won’t last long .They are all very sorry Luxon didn’t move in as they all had part time jobs as house maids when Jacinda was at the official residence - they especially liked her Dad as he loves the law and was keen on keeping up with their law studies .Jobs that fit in with their lectures are hard to find Popeye take a spare charger with you - my sister is in Palmerston hospital and claims she has had two chargers stolen while she was asleep but I have a feeling she may be plugging them in somewhere and forgetting them - hope your surgery goes well and you get good news from Winz Those stockings work so well but are impossible- I was lucky the district nurse was coming in everyday to dress my leg when that sod gave me a whack so she did my stockings - there is evidently a gadget you can get through the hospital Kiwimade - good for your son to jump the ditch and take his chances while he is old enough to make the most of it and young enough to enjoy it .My son moved over there to run a big sawmill so we went over supposedly for a couple of years but ended up staying 10 - we all came home when my husband got sick - one of my granddaughters stayed over there and another went over there after lock down to finish her law degree as the lecturers here were still doing lectures online - I don’t think either of them will come home My son finally has the consents to start the remedial work to fix the damage from Gabrielle - photo shows how lucky he was not to lose his sawmill - the innocent little creek at the bottom rose right up https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2105949806.jpg Gobsmacking to see on TV tonight that those Navy ships came with undrinkable water - a lot of lessons should be learned from everything that went wrong - hopefully the Covid enquiry will have the same results - the Ruby Princess should never have docked in Napier - the authorities turned it away from Egan because there were a 1000 sick on board but the Ministry overrode our port authority and we had 50 deaths related to the passengers going all over Napier - my 103 year old mother died alone Covid free but we weren’t allowed to visit her - the cruise ship went from here to Sydney and caused even more chaos Better go and put the rubbish out - forgot it last week RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-03-2024 There is a layer of trauma - ptsd, in your post Jan that I wish we could lift for you, but as well all know those scars are impossible to erase. We just learn to forge ahead regardless. March is my unfavouritest month. Wedding anniversary, his date of birth, then Easter, the road toll memories, I would happily sleep through the entire 31 days, but after all those decades I have strategies that I can draw on. And there's always wine and chocolate, lol. I focus on the good stuff, because there is still lots of that about. I have demolished two of my bok choy and they were very good, so fresh, straight out of my planter boxes. And as I pulled then I noticed the baby leeks are thickening, the radishes around them also coming on strong, all 'n all those planters are proving a great investment. I just might get two more, not just the one. An Easter present, and a great excuse to buy more seedlings... RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 17-03-2024 My food favourite at the moment Hunni is whole little squash pumpkin- the man who grew the tomatoes gave me quite a few small round balls of deliciousness- I cut the stalk out drop some butter down the hole with some salt and cracked pepper - then bake - absolutely delicious- just about up there with Whittakers dark peppermint chocolate RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-03-2024 morning ladies We have a very thick fog this morning. Typical after a warm day and cold night. Wow, that's 'up there' for deliciousness, Jan lol. They sound divine and I might suggest to MrK we try some. Beef steak tomatoes are so good, there was another sort MrK grew which were just as good. I'll ask him what they were. Am glad the recipe has worked out, Jan Bok choy is soooo good too, gently fried after being split in half lengthwise with a touch of butter, salt and black pepper. We grew bok choy when we couldn't get any cabbage seedlings. Yesterday MrK found a leopard slug in the garden Am so happy to have it as it munches on the mulch and turns the mulch as it moves. It's only the second one we've found. Fingers crossed our resident blackbird doesn't find it. And a waxeye visited the garden as well, the first for the season. I'll take that as a hint to start making their bird puddings. Today I'll continue with the garden clean up, there is still a fair bit to do, and I suspect our friend will be dropping more mulch off soon. It's just that time of the year. Blackberry Nip is finally being moved, MrK said he would put the concrete reinforcing wire on the fence as it's support today. Just as well we have some, heaven knows why we do, but it's very useful for climbing plants. Stitching later this afternoon, this edging is becoming tedious. Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-03-2024 Morning everyone Dark one side of town but the sun is out on the other.. Not cold tho. Been up and done my blood and got my butter on the way home. And some crackers to take with me. Hospital food is very hard for this fussy bunny. So Ill take extras with me, but also use it as a good time to kick off the last 9 kilos I want to lose lol. Wow Jan that's a massive cut through isn't it. Amazing how a little creek can turn into something very damaging and dangerous. I did the Enquiry thing yesterday. Ticked quite a few jobs off the list yesterday.. I only have the last minute stuff left now. Im off to see the girls for the last time today. My knee isnt liking the cooler temp so its good timing for it to be done... Ill ask them to send the district nurses around to do the stockings.. My arthritic fingers wont cope for sure. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 18-03-2024 morning all beautiful sunny day no wind Sounds like you are all organised Popeye. Had lovely day up the line with my sewing friends could relax as I wasnt the driver like usual. Been to gym tired before I started now kn@##ckered so I finished myself off my doing the vacuuming. Meeting this afternoon so reading for that this morning. Gave DGD1 her bathrobe she had to put it on and wouldnt take it off although she must have been cooking. Dolly's robe was a hit too first thing she showed her dad when he returned from picking up their k9. I think my sewing mojo has returned I have a few projects lined up in my head DD also bought some fabric rain proff one side fleecy the other so that will be transformed into a raincoat over the next few weeks enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-03-2024 We went from heavy fog to sunshine to rain. At least the newly moved plants will be happy RE: You can never have enough... - JanW - 18-03-2024 (18-03-2024, 08:47 AM)Mica Wrote: morning allMica - https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2106419457.jpg your Dollie’s bathrobe reminded me of an email I found the other day from my granddaughter who would have been about 5 at the time and had just shifted to Oz - the email is a Pumpkin Patch shopping list for her Grandfather - Gracie is her teddy bear ! Well My trip was Messed for a wee while.. My Ride up, Gayle ended up in Hospital yesterday, her pneumonia is back and they wont let her out, cos they know she wouldn't be resting. So David has said he will take me. I rang family support and a lady was meant to be phoning me back but hasn't. So I had no option really. Yes Dianne would take me but that disturbs the Painting at the home and I wont ask her to do that. I must be spechull lol.. I got 4 emails all the same from Breast Screening.. All No evidence so that's a great start for the week. Bobbie has been hitting again.. And she was well off the planet today.. Nearly made me cry actually. Shes been walking around again peeing in other peoples rooms.. and she told me I had to come and see her After Mike sings on Wednesday. I had to leave in the end. I brought her some soup and Noodles today, Ill give them to David. he will make them for her if she doesnt like what is on offer.. Oddly todays two choices were loved by all. Quiche for some, chicken Stirfry for others. And they all enjoyed it.. with Shortbread for dessert. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 18-03-2024 It may not be too bad KM,as long as your son keeps in touch. He'll have interesting experiences travelling, so sure to be good for him. Very glad I've not had to wear compression socks, they sound difficult. That sounds awful Jan; I'd like to hope we can do better if there's ever a next time. Rain at last here, but almost got caught in a downpour when out earlier so waited it our in a shop & found another fabric paint at half price so not a bad delay. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-03-2024 OMG They are Paying..!!!! I was told reviews of their decisions can take months. They tried ringing but I didn't catch it but they emailed. They are paying the full amount , which actually means there will be a refund to me lol. I thought I broke on Saturday.. but I Have now.. Happy broke cos I can finally give him his last wish. Well When I can walk on Sand lol... The Old David would laugh at that.. Maybe he told me not to put that I would pay it back if they paid it, on the new form I filled in this Morning lol So happy Sad right now RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-03-2024 I proudly walked into my GPs office today minus walking stick, only to be told off very firmly. There I was thinking being able to walk without the bloody thing was a good thing, but apparently not. And I was hoping she might be able to come up with a solution to a wee twist my bionic foot is steadily developing - down to the ankle fusions apparently, but no. Only another surgery will stop it. Or one of those specially built shoes, which just isn't happening. So, all'n all, not my best day. Still, Kapiti minis on special at New World so I had a gorgeous dessert to smother my sorrows, lol! Edited to add - the compression socks arrived, and I got them on. So I now look forward to two matching legs, lol. Oh well, a woman can dream... RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 19-03-2024 Well, I might've got the things on, but they only stayed on for an hour or so before the fat leg started yelling abuse and demanding to be released. Who knew socks could hurt, lol. Might try again today while I am up and about but if there is a repeat of that groaning and grizzling from my fat foot they can always end up in the charity bag as yet another good idea that didn't work out. Apparently there is a tenancy check tomorrow, so I will be houseworking today. Windows in particular, though I best remove the cobwebs from the smoke alarm too. I really must look inside the letterbox more often than once a month, but honestly, who sends mail these days? Only our corporate landlord apparently. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-03-2024 Good Morning everyone Its a beautiful clear day. I was walking into the med center as the sun popped up over the buildings.. I dont see that often. I slept like a log last night. woke up about 30 seconds before my alarm lol. So nice to have one less worry taken off my list that's for sure. All the last minute stuff today, and Ill pop over and see my Neighbour for a wee while. Have a fantastic day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 19-03-2024 Morning all Fine day windy and cold had to break out thevjeans, long sleeved top and vest. Off up the coast to quilt guild this morning nothing suitable to take for lunch so will have to pick something up from nearby cafe Did a bit of knitting last night thumb seems to have survived so thats a positive. Glad the loot came through for you Popeye Glad I don't have to battle with those compression stocking my hands not strong at best of times Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 19-03-2024 Easier though than pulling the tongue up on my once favourite ankle boots. Those are definitely going into the charity shop bag, I am not fighting with them for another Winter! Besides, it means I can find another pair... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 19-03-2024 morning ladies Another gorgeous day today in spite of the southerly wind. Good to hear WINZ are coming to the party, popeye. Those compression socks are a real PITA. Hope you can get something sorted, OHH. We had an early start this morning with MrK's Waikato appointment. He has three things on the go at the moment which means more travelling. We were scooting along the expressway and spotted a heap of hot air balloons in the sky. It must be Balloons Over Waikato time. It was the perfect morning for them too. Clear with wind strong enough to blow them along but not too strong to cause damage. I've mown along the berm and will finish the rest of the lawn tomorrow. Lunch time and I'm tempted to make a toasted sandwich of some sort. Happy crafting |
