RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-06-2022

morning ladies Smile  Blimmen heck lol.  A fine day yesterday and back to the rain today.  Boy am I pleased I got done outside what I needed to yesterday.

Your friend sounds interesting OHH, why be beige when you can stand out!  Our daughter is blond and changes her hair colour to blue, pink or green too.  MrK was shocked when he first saw it lol.  I'll keep an eye out for those types of skulls.   The only German band I have heard of is the Scorpions who sing 'Wind of Change' and 'Love you Like a Hurricane'.  Love love love those songs.

Lilith, I've heard that kiwi band, Tainted, and they are good.

We watched the Hongi to Hangi programme on TV1 the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I already knew a lot of the protocol but there are lots of gaps in my knowledge so I learned lots.  MrK learned lots too and enjoyed the format of the programme.

Housework for me today and I plan to pull the oven out from the wall and clean behind it.  Not a job I look forward too but needs must.  Might as well pull the fridge out as well and do behind that too.  And my reward will be working on the butterfly.

happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Its crazy eh Kiwimade, re the weather... I guess its a Forrest Gump Box of Chocolates..

Its wet here and quite chilly.

I woke without too much Pain Yay, but I will be careful lol... I got the ingredients out to make Date Scones for the July Babies last night. So will whip those up later and take them up hot for their lunch since its Friday and "Fish Bait" day as MrP calls it lol

Housework and baking on my Weekend agenda. The dreaded changing the bed lol.. Actually it could be worse. My bed is High so its not as much bending.

I want to do some more listing too. I had good sales last week.

Ive never been one to dye my hair much. But My best ever hair "Do" was just before we got married. A Bloke called Richard did it. 4 hours and I had it Frosted and permed at the same time.. He was soo Gentle pulling my hair through the Barbaric cap. And he said its cos he had had it done himself and knows how it can hurt. I could barely walk when I left from sitting so long lol And it was $120 lol which in 1991 was a lot of money lol. But I was still working back then.

Hope you are mending well Mica..

Have a fab day everyone

Ohh

Can you use Savoy cabbage for Coleslaw?

I got half a huge one yesterday for $1.. Im not a huge fan of it cooked but do like coleslaw.

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 17-06-2022

Good morning.

Drizzle just starting after 2 dry, sunny days.

Popeye that savoy will be just fine as coleslaw. Winter vege season is SO good ... currently enjoying yams.

Hongi to Hangi was well done and interesting to watch ... my 6 years working in a primary school helped a lot with protocol (were on the Marae several times), though I thought Chris Luxon sitting on a table during a recent school visit address should have known better (or been corrected)!

Probably a good day for housework as much as I would rather find "better" things to do,  lol.

Have a good day all.

Morning all

Rain overnight and a bit gloomy out.

Another lie in  reading.
Getting a bit of cabin fever now and want to be able to get down to the sewing cave to quilt perhaps next week.

Finished 2nd front on hooded cardi that I am knitting my shoulders are stiffening up with all the sitting and knitting will have to take more rests today.
DH happy as US golf open is on.

Have a good day

Yes, looks pretty dull here too weatherwise, I might have to resort to housework, seeing the kitchen looks like a typhoon hit it, and the bathroom floor has no shine left.

The woman who lives here is very slack about that stuff, and even more so when she has just started a new Reacher novel...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-06-2022

Well that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The floor under the oven was pretty reasonable considering how long it has been since I have cleaned it. Now for under the fridge. Fingers crossed it pulls out easily. I have already ripped the floor vinyl from the last time I did this.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 17-06-2022

I'm still attempting to sort out the workroom & have found another container with photo albums in it; that makes three so far. Some are old framed family photos so am trying to sort them so that they're all in one container & all photo albums in another one - or two.
The trouble is that the very idea of sorting that lot out is a bit daunting & likely to take time so will just do a bit at a time rather than tackling it all at once.

Cold & grey again here with a bit of drizzle now & then.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-06-2022

I have a huge basket by my chair, filled with albums.supposedly to encourage me to sort them out.

It has been there for months, and makes an excellent table for my needlework stuff.

Oh dear...

Oh dear...

I think what happens is that you get used to seeing them there & tend to not exactly see them because they just blend into the background & become part of the furniture sort of thing.
And I know this because in my kitchen are several bits & pieces waiting for me to post them to a friend down south.
They've been there waiting for about a month now, I think... Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 18-06-2022

Morning all
Been lazing again so don't know what the weather is like yet.

Had to laugh about stuff waiting to be done. I have a new microchipcat door that I need to install to replace the old one been on the bench a few weeks now. Must get to it.

Did sew a new cover for my wheat warmer yesterday not sure what we will be up to today.

Started on sleeve of the cardi last night, my shoulders are getting sore with all the sitting and knitting.

Bit of housework this morning

Have a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-06-2022

morning ladies Smile Foggy as heck this morning and more rain this afternoon. The joys of living in the Waikato.

The kitchen vinyl survived me pulling the fridge out. It's on wheels but last time I didn't pull it out in a straight line and somehow the vinyl caught. Today I clean the oven, fridge and cupboards. Well, that's the plan. Whether it gets done is another story.

My sister-in-law's dog is in vet hospital on a drip. She is very sick with vomiting and diarrhea and the vet isn't quite sure what has caused it. There are no blockages or anything so hopefully it is a bug she has picked up that antibiotics can fix. Just like people!

No embroidery for me yesterday, I ended up with my nose in a J D Robb book in the afternoon. I'll set some time aside for it this afternoon when it's raining.

Happy crafting Smile

Poor old pup, it is hard when our companions get under the weather, we feel so helpless. At least people can have explanations, not that that always helps.

Still, it is the weekend, funny how even when well past working lives we still have this thing about weekends. It is a good excuse to do something different, perhaps.

Like crumpets for breakfast!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-06-2022

Morning everyone

Dull and cold here today..

A bit like my body lol.. In my next life Im coming back either as a bear who can eat what they want and sleep for months. Or a dolphin so your whole life is suspended in water so there shouldn't be too many aches and pains lol

Once meds have kicked in Im meant to be vacuuming.. But to be honest I doubt my knee will make it. I did change my bed last night and need to hang that up so its a start lol.

Im considering downsizing on the number of freezers.. Cos we have 4 in the garage. None are huge but if I was to go through them and biff any UFO's I could probably do without one of them. But I will have to get a rubbish bag before I can do that.. Dont know anyone with pigs that could eat any veges.

MrP loved my jacket and scarf and said it looked good so that was nice. He wasnt feeling well last night so I rang the nurse to check. I think he had a migraine coming on.. Ill find out later.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 18-06-2022

It's always so difficult when our animals are ill - they can't let us know what the problem is.
I might come back as a bird in my next life - one of those kamikaze ones, like the little feathery fiend which did a Kamikaze dive to me the other day & damn near scared the living daylights out of me! That must be fun, though not sure I'd be keen on eating worms.

Apparently the dog can not only tell the time but also knows when it's the weekend; & the weekend is when we tend to do an early walk. I've no idea how she can possibly know when its Saturday or Sunday but she does. She was giving me the 'hurry up' this morning very early & I forgot to put on the Inca hat so was freezing the entire walk. I could have gone back for it but didn't have the heart to confuse her so I just complained a bit & made sure we went at a brisk pace instead. Her friend the pup down the street was delighted to see us, wasn't sure he'd be outside so early so that was lucky.
May do a bit more pruning later if it warms up a bit

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-06-2022

Oven is clean and the cupboards and draws emptied and washed. Only the pantry to wipe out and biff any old stuff. I have a small pile for the op shop started so a small declutter as I go.

I have no idea what I would like to come back as. Just as long as I was loved. We've always said dogs in our family are well loved and live long, healthy, happy lives.

Our boy knows when it's every second Friday and MrK goes into town and takes him. I have no idea how he knows it's the 'right' Friday, but he does. He sticks like glue to MrK the whole time just in case he's forgotten lol. As if! MrK wouldn't survive the day if he didn't take him lol. We have a brand spanking new off leash dog park so we must go and check it out. Might not be a good idea with our boy and his painted on ears lol but we can see what it's like.

And before I go... GO THE CRUSADERS!!!!!! I'm wearing my red and black today Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 18-06-2022

The rain has arrived and my cat is sitting close (shared body heat, lol) as I have my cuppa.

An afternoon for doing not much, I think. Wordle, crossword, knitting and maybe some more embroidery "study"!  Though son and dog are coming out a bit later for a change of scenery.

I hope your sil's dog recovers well KM - always a worrying time followed by the (usually hefty) bill afterwards! My cats and dogs have had great lives but I'm well aware there are those that don't ... I don't wish to come back as one of them  Big Grin

Glad your jacket is a hit Popeye and you Mica getting back to your sewing.

Stay warm and dry all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-06-2022

I married a trout fisherman. He was totally wrapped up in the sport and exceedingly good at it.

I have absolutely no doubt he came back as a brownie...

More than once, lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-06-2022

I've ignored the floors.. What's another day.. well it will be longer than that. But Im not having visitors lol

I changed the lightbulb in my wardrobe and hung up heaps of clothes.. when did I get soo many?

Then I decided to have a sort out in the linen cupboard..

Im thinking that I may have had another previous life. A Dooms dayer.. I have 59 pillow cases, not counting those in use and the ones in the spare rooms drawers. That's not counting the brand new ones in packets still.. I will say tho that MrP could muck up a pillowcase in a couple of days so most were brought at the oppys..

So now I have heaps of rags.

I've also whittled the linen for his bed down to two sets and they are all browns so mix and match. I need to do mine too but will leave that for another day as I still need to walk lol.

Tea is prepped, crumbed sausage meat patties, mashed tatties and some coleslaw. Im cooking it early so I can ring MrP between our preferred tv shows.

Awesome News.. !!! They found his teeth. They had gone to the laundromat as I suggested. So Now the bag of peanuts I got for myself will go up to him on Monday.

I've wrapped a waist / back strapping thingee around my knee and it feels much stronger.. Of course I could have done it a long time ago but well sometimes Im slow lol

I hate it when our babies are unwell... Especially after what happened with our Boy cat. We thought he just had his nose out of joint cos Missy moved in with us.. But it turned out he had a massive tumour in his bladder? Bowel heck I cant remember. There was nothing the vet could do for him tho. MrP loves watching the vet type shows and Dog rescuers but I cant cos if I hear an animal crying I turn into a real blubbering mess too.

When you look at what we all get up to in a day we are a productive Lot.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 18-06-2022

I watch Dog Rescue too & last week's one about those poor greyhounds brought a tear to the eye. I'll never understand how anyone can be so cruel to animals.
I think there's something badly wrong with people who cause pain to animals.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-06-2022

Ohh I so agree, Lilith. They say serial killers start with animals Sad

Tomorrow we have our big power cut, from 7.30am - 4.30pm so no internet for the day. Doesn't bother me as I'm off to Whanganui for either the day or back Monday. MrK is staying home to look after the Furry One Smile Time to give our grandkids some hugs and cuddles Big Grin Big Grin
