RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 24-06-2022

lol roma, I've also taped designs to the window to trace.  The lightbox was the best investment in embroidery I bought for a long time.  MrK uses it as well for when he uses his Dremel and wants a design on his woodworking.

Thanks for the vacum recommendations.  I've warned MrK I will be buying a new one lol.  He doesn't see why I need one.  The tellus works, what's the problem.  Well, you use it and tell me when you need to change the bag and I'll show you the bags I have to modify.  Oh, and the foot, non existent.  The cost of a new one is the price of a new vacum... assuming you want to wait eight months for it.  Honestly, men!

Lounge is all sparkly, I had forgotten how heavy furniture is to move.  And ours is solid, not this put-together-in-five-minutes stuff.  The Furry One had a wonderful time 'protecting' me from the nasty vacum.  Am slowly working my way through the house.

Gosh those polar sheets dry quick on the line.  They were only hung out an hour ago and they are bone dry.

Now to find my Kate Bush CD and play her nice and loud.. apparently she is back in vogue Heart I've always loved her but the kids hated her.  Funny how they like her now lol.

Yes, KM the parts and bags were eye wateringly expensive, got to the stage not worth it. My Miele is bagless ... it is the dog and cat one and has great suction.

Funny how the 'young ones' now love the music of old   Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-06-2022

So they should! Our music was the best...

Apologies to the masters!

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 24-06-2022

Yes it was - the music our generation came up with is in a class of its own, imo. It can only be fully appreciated by younger ones I think by putting it into context & hearing some of the truly awful stuff which preceded it.
Mitch Miller & the singalong gang, Patti Page & others would likely send them screaming from the room....that'd make them appreciate Keef & co & all those others! Smile

So cold here today that I dug out the Ugg boots from the back of the wardrobe; they've not seen the light of day for a couple of winters. I may not take them off until spring...

Had to venture out earlier as the dog biscuits were getting low; thankfully they - at last - had her brand in so huge relief as the small ones are useful for slipping into my pocket when we set off for a walk, in case she's especially good.
There was also a Matariki display in an empty shop so went in to see it; some really nice art work in it.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 24-06-2022

I was pleased when I heard that Kate bush has put out another CD.

I dont like a wide variety of music but I did like hers..

The only thing I dont like about music now is when they have to check to say the stuff we listened to in the 80s is now Classic...
And Kate Bush is now proof that its Still Up to Date and Good.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-06-2022

I don't mind being a classic. I dislike retro though. And antique is even worse...

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 24-06-2022

Timeless has a nice ring to it.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 25-06-2022

morning ladies Smile  A mild, wet start to the day with a bit of fog floating around.  The paddocks look very pretty with the fog on the ground, almost wistful.

I remember parties we went to or had and it was 'our' music that got everyone, even the younger ones, up dancing.  Our granddaughter was in our car with us ages ago and was 'bored' so I gave her my playlist to listen too on my tablet.  After we got over the 'where's the video, nana' she was singing (badly lol) along with the songs and saying how cool it was.  So here's to the next generation enjoying our timeless music.

Today I plan to tackle the two guest rooms, it shouldn't take long to do.  Then there is only the porch and entrance to do indoors.  The outside of the house needs a soft waterblast, a warmish sunny day would be nice to do that.

Mica, did I read further back your husband had prostrate cancer treatment?  All the very best for his health journey.  MrK has had the same cancer and we are so thankful our doctor wanted a full blood test.  Without the test, he would never have known and wouldn't be here.

I'll try and put some time aside to work on the butterfly.  It looks odd half finished lol.

happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 25-06-2022

Morning everyone

Its been hosing down for hours, although not at the mo.

I've been awake since 3-30am. I'm getting like very painful shocks about 10 cm's above my foot. Nothing has helped stop it, rubbing smacking the lot. Ill google then ring the health line cos it was happening on the top of the same foot the other day. Very weird and painful. Im thinking its not a clot cos you usually swell and it can go red.

Provided I dont end up at the drs Im working in the freezers this morning. I have a lady who has pigs and will gratefully take anything they can eat. The small one in the corner is going to be like Christmas cos other than a bag of frozen chips and some pastry cases I have no idea what is in there. I seldom go in it. I should be able to downsize at least one freezer for now.

Fingers crossed for Hubby Mica. I know a couple who have had it but found too late. Men can be soo stubborn and play Russia Roulette with their health alot of the time.

I better see what I can find out what is happening with this stupid leg...

Have a fab day everyone

Morning all
Overcast still morning.
Slow start again today.

Washing on, bathroom cleaned so some stuff done, vacuuming while DH walks the k9s.

More quilting yesterday, should get it finished today and put the binding on so that I can hand sew tonight. The cat will be pleased the only time she sits on my lap is when I have a quilt.

Agree re music I sew with it playing on Spotify get funny looks from k9 if I sing along ha.

Hope your pain gets sorted Popeye.

Have a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 25-06-2022

Hope the pains are nothing serious Popeye.

Its almost warm here - 17 apparently, so managed to weed the smallest raspberry garden & prune them back a bit; probably will regret it tomorrow but its good to have got a bit done out there at last. The last two days have been really freezing cold so this warm day is much appreciated.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 25-06-2022

I am considering taking the secateurs to Sally Holmes. It is a task that must be given considerable consideration time.

RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 25-06-2022

We have two Sally Holmes. One is an absolute monster with some stems 3cm radius and it is still flowering, the other is a meek little thing. For the monster I need to use powerful loppers. I wish you luck.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 25-06-2022

Yup, the loppers will be to hand. Thing is Wedding Day is mingled with her and is still carrying sprays of orange hips which are just so cheerful on these Wintery days.

RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 25-06-2022

Our roses need a really heavy prune this year, many of them have signs of stem canker which will need to be cut off and there are a couple, Molineux and Ali Mau, which might need to be hauled out. It's breaking my heart because I love my roses more than anything else in the garden.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 26-06-2022

morning ladies Smile We have a real pea souper of fog here this morning.

Sally Holmes... sigh... such a pretty rose and a real 'doer'. There is a motel in town that had their fence line planted in Sally Holmes and it looked amazing. Wedding Day is another crazy rose that wants to take over the world. I hope the pruning went well, OHH. Olive, I feel your pain. Winter is the time canker does it's worst Sad A good fungicide could help. My Crepuscule is still flowering in spite of the frosts but regardless, she will be pruned along with the others next month.

The little clematis is growing like crazy on the windowsill. The kitchen must be perfect for it as it's in the shade for most of the day. One of the begonia leaves I have had in water to grow is now potted up and has survived the transition. The other two are muddling along still in water.

One more bedroom and the porch to spring clean and that's the inside done. There isn't quite as much clutter to take to op shops this time round. The windows will need 'doing' and the carpet needs a clean but the carpet can wait until the days are warmer.

I'll put time aside today to work on the butterfly. I did a bit more yesterday but with all the padded satin and laid stitches it is a slow process.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 26-06-2022

Morning everyone

I miss having Roses. My all time fave is Ice Berg. Cos I Love white Flowers.

The pain went away yesterday, The only thing I could think was it was a pinched nerve that was causing the shocks.. I was tired tho.

I went through the freezers and have extras for the lady with the pigs. And I have easily emptied one, so will sell that once she has collected the goodies.

I ended up having a 2 hour Half nap as I call it cos I felt like I was asleep but I could still hear the TV lol. Its helped tho.

I have to nip up the road this morning and then hang around for the lady to come and pick up the stuff.

Ohh The Great Pottery Throwdown starts again this week... Something Ive always wanted to do. I did it once when I was a kid at a holiday program and totally loved it.. They occasionally have classes up here but of course Ive always stayed home with MrP. Ill keep an eye out and hope they run them again.

Stay warm and dry everyone

Have a fab day

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 26-06-2022

I used to do pottery years ago too, Popeye & really enjoyed it. Mainly hand built stuff because my wheel skills weren't all that wonderful, although I managed one or two things - & generally gave them to friends/family cunningly disguised as Xmas gifts. Eventually had to give it up as I got bad dermatitis on my hands & of course now there's no longer the community centre there thanks to the quakes.

Lovely sunny day here, hope it lasts but going out later so won't get much done today.

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 26-06-2022

Good morning.

Not much sun so far but at least it's not cold.

Glad the pain subsided PE. I once went to a pottery class ... I took a long time to be able to centre the clay on the wheel and getting rid of the inevitable "wobble" ! My sister did a much more interesting class (more recent) focusing on hand made items using gorgeous bright coloured glazes ... she has some cool "objets d'art" on long stems in her garden along with some wall hangings.

I miss my roses also, but not the pruning ... Sally Holmes was gorgeous on a trellis on a corner of the house and once it grew, kept the possums off the roof!

Lol Mica, working around your cat ... sounds familiar!

Have sorted out a sampler pattern to knit a baby blanket ... now for the best priced wool!

We binge watched the Pembrokeshire Murders (3 episodes) last night. Excellent and well recommended ... based on true life.

Better go and let howling cat in door that's not his cat door as usual!

Enjoy the day.
