Is it possible to change the colours of the icons that state

That are at the bottom of the screen its very hard to see because they are all seem to be a diferent variation of grey, or is it just me?

They seem to be in colour to me, the new posts icons are pretty much a grey as you say, but closed forums have a yellow padlock.
this is how it looks to me.
