My good old Mahjong Kyodai 18.75 fails to run! -- I know, it's antique.
It was running OK untill I changed to this Viewsonic XG270Q monitor.
I get this error message: IDirect3D Device7 cannot be made.
Windows 11 pro with latest updates.
What could be the reason?
Cheers

1st thing that comes to mind is the Graphic resolution on the monitor / and old game are not compatible.

Is it kyo2006 that you are running? Have you tried to reinstall it?

I changed the resolution from 2560 x 1440 to 1920 x1080 , this is the next lower resolution that fits the screen size.
The good old Mahjong works but, then the general resolution for all others look bad! But then, it defeats the purpose of getting a bigger screen!
I have dual monitor set up in this PC, my other monitor is a 24" screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution. I thought I could run it on this monitor but no way I could move Mahjong onto this screen?
How to run it on this screen?
Any other options? Hahaha ...

How to drag to the lower resolution screen -- Make sure it NOT in full Screen mode, then it should simply drag across as long as the monitor is set to Extend and not duplicate.
The Lower Resolution is more than likely the best it can do.
You have to remember the version you have came out in 2006, so a 17 year old game would be expected to struggle with modern Hardware settings.
The game was originally tested ( according to their site) on Win95 - XP. Kind of dead and not supported OS's.
You could always load up XP ( or earlier) in a VM and try that ???? But not something I'd do. be happy that it can play at all
