Lol on the cricketing, but yes, he was a very professional journalist. Old school, I liked him a lot.

I've had a lot of pleasure from cricket. Every time NZ gets thrashed at crucket I feel an intense glow of pride that we're doing something right. Occasionally the team forgets and wins, but there's always an excuse -usually 'OK, we won but it's only limited over, not real cricket."
If they ever get to the stage of seriously winning, I may find that hard to forgive, but the risk is happily minuscule.
Life is, by and large, good.
