SM-T805Y battery
#1
Been given a Samsung Tab S SM-T805Y but the battery is very weak. It takes a couple hours charging+ before it can be booted up. It appears to need to get to 20% battery before it can start.

Want to get a new battery and have been studying. Keen to get it usable for the grandson.

There's number of models with very similar numbers like the SM-T805. Is this close enough match?
T800, T801, T807 etc
Interestingly, Wikipeadia have a page of info about the Tab S but SM-T805Y is not listed, closest is SM-T805.

Found a great Youtube tutorial for swapping in a battery.

What is there to know about buying a battery?

Thanks for any tips.

Several Places list the 805Y along with various others it will be compatible with Example:

This Site here     Near the bottom of the page - Compatible models.  As well as HERE

You just need to be careful where you buy from as a lot of places say they are in NZ but in  fact are over Seas.

I normally get Batteries from Raytech  Just looked  Battery Here ( in Auckland) In stock.

Super cool Wainui. That's really good evidence, battery is the same across a number of models.

The heat is off because the boy is apparently too young just yet. So I have a bit of time. They grow crazy fast tho..

Model: EB-BT800FBE is  widely available. A quick look on Ali-E shows prices from $24 landed. Only detectable difference is no Samsung logo.

Seems to me this Tab is the perfect 1st device into a whole new world. Probably it'll take a beating, get busted and then Poppa will upgrade him. Big Grin

Be VERY careful from Aliexpress -- While the battery may be cheaper, sometimes the freight can be a killer   Sad

I was going to order a new stand-alone Dryer stand, it looked great, and the price was excellent but it had a $600 shipping.

Most of the batteries work out at between $25-$35 NZ.

Raytech -- Link above-  around $25 + Freight, usually $10. Here the next day.  And if anything ever goes wrong you can ring the guy and talk to him.

I hear you on the Ali-E freight thing. Having earned a black belt in Ali-E shopping, I always add buy price to freight cost then Govt 15% on top. Landed cost.

Yes, there's a lot to like about having a phone number to call. That's definitely worth something..

I reset the Tab S. All went well though it keeps wanting a Google account log in. Is there a downside to entering my Google account and continuing setup? Or should I hand it over to the parents and get them to solve all that side of things?

you can set it up on your account for testing but it does lock it to your account, such that even after a factory reset it would only let you login using your own account.  This account needs to be removed from the device prior to a factory reset before it can be setup with another account...
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

Learning heaps, thanks. Checked Settings/accounts. There are none listed so any previous owners have been removed already.
The boy is going to love this..
