Employment rights..or lack of
#1
The govt is merrily chipping away at workers pay & conditions. Last year minimum wages went up by 2% when inflation was 4%. This year, it increased by 1.5% when inflation was 2.5%. The council of trade unions has estimated that a full time minimum wage worker is now cumulativelty $2,438 worse off in real terms.

And that Delightful Person Nicola  Willis wants to remove the requirement that govt contractors have to pay the living wage. This means that , over time Parliament's workers - cleaners, security guards & caterers drop from the living wage ($28.95 an hour) to $23.50, a pay cut of nearly one fifth.

Aren't they just wonderful. Or something. Angry Dodgy

Still, with any luck they do seem to be heading towards being a one term govt; so much so that you have to wonder if that wasn't the plan: get in,do as much damage as possible, then get out...
