New kind of scam happening on TM

This one is going to be very difficult to contain - no money mules involved...

A Trade Me user who won an auction for his dream coffee machine fell headlong into a sophisticated fraud. A major bank says the scammer’s method skirts around most fraud detection systems and it wants online marketplaces to improve their security. Isaac Davison reports

No sympathy I'm afraid. Anyone spending that much money on a sight unseen purchase is asking to be scammed.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'd be wanting to see that machine in person before a penny changed hands. Even with Ping...
