in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Yeah the industry didn't appear to take much notice or make any improvements according to the recommendations laid out in the last report so now they pay the price.
I hope the breed is still bred here however, they make great pets!

You'd think they might have made improvements, but they just didn't seem too worried.
Yes, they're beautiful dogs so I'd hate to see no more of them here.

When my dog Stella saw about 8 greyhounds in each section of each traillor used to transport them she was so scared because they seemed so cut off from human love which she took for granted, she just wanted to run away and not look at them.

I've always been impressed with the tracks - they are a bit narrow, but I reckon with small bikes like 125's it would be a lot of fun. I guess I'm in a minority with this, but that's what I want to do on a Greyhound track.

I'm not sure if it was blatant disregard or pure stupidity.
You would think that if those in charge wanted to save the industry, they would have made all the changes they could possibly do, going above and beyond to demonstrate they they were taking the matter seriously.
Makes me wonder if the industry was not really thriving here?

That would very likely be doing far less harm than greyhound racing.

That could be it, although they claim otherwise.

I really think dogs, cats & perhaps all animals understand far more than we know - maybe even more than we understand, who knows...

Yeah I'm not too sure, I have not heard much in the news in recent about injuries to dogs, but it was in the spotlight not too long ago.

Stella was a smart empathetic girl, she knew exactly what she was seeing, a group of dogs, not even a pack, kept in separate small cages on a specially constructed trailer in a car park about to leave the race course by Lincoln Park, and nobody loved them, looking dejected and panicky.
Stella was like a 6 or 7 year old girl child. Study her face in the expanded view, you can see how developed she was. You can see just the tiniest hint of disdain and aloofness she had, she was always her own dog and was dignified as well.

We have a greyhound mix (Sadie) called a Lockley, a mixture of Greyhound, Black Lab and American Bulldog, bred here just outside Christchurch by Mr Lockley as hunting doge, reputedly the best in the world.

Here's a picture of Stella playing with Sadie when she was young
and here they are on the bed

It really appears to me that most of the harm done to the dogs was not what you see on the racetrack but behind closed doors.

Sadie is the most loving dog you could imagine, so cuddly and friendly with those she knows, far more so than Stella who was friendly physically at times but enjoyed her space.
I never knew that greyhounds were as Sadie is but looking it up you find that they are known for cuddles and sleeping all day if possible.
They won't be getting much of anything if they are racing dogs, neglected in everything but the basics of food and water I would say and they are very intelligent animals,
Just look at Stella and Sadie's faces in the picture above where they are on the bed.

Absolutely beautiful dogs. I'd hate to live in a world without animals, especially cats & dogs. And horses.
