Ping by default on Trademe?

Did you guys know listings on TM now offer Ping by default? You have to untick a box if you aren't interested in offering that, and paying another commission to them. Despite never signing up for such a thing my listing sold and the buyer paid by Ping, despite my payment instructions requesting bank account, and far as I remember only that on the listing.

Be wary, when making a new listing, how many other silent things are we signing up to?

Not very transparent. I wonder how the Commerce Commission would view this?

I refuse to use it due to the fees, have not noticed this change yet, but good to be aware of it as it sounds a sneaky way for them to add it without you knowing.

Thanks for the heads up on this OHH. I've relisted several items over the past week but none appear to offer Ping as a payment option. Was the item you sold a new listing or relist?

Another issue we struck recently was a seller that provided a name that didn't match the bank's one for the account. Same again with a company name that also didn't match the account #. Then we explained in words of one syllable to the seller and she advised us of her full (Asian) name. Success!

Between that kerfuffle and the holiday period we're now expecting delivery of the cellphone wallet almost 3 weeks after winning the auction.

I haven't sold on TM for some years but I do buy occasionally, mainly clothing.   From a buyer's perspective Ping makes it a tiny bit easier to pay, so could it therefore encourage dithering purchasers?   There's never anything that I desperately want but sometimes when the item is really cheap and Ping is available I'll think Oh I might as well, then someone has a sale that might not otherwise have happened.

I like buying with Ping. I just object to the double commission when selling. Especially when I did not consent to pay it...
