Yes. Extreme Right Scum in anyone's language. They are probably celebrating the advent of the Project 2025 manifesto as we type, going round to Thiel's place for drinks and happy times when he's in NZ in his hidey hole in Queenstown.

It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Bit beneath you, imo.

I would like to see the Greens in a position of strength again. I'd like to see what they can do with that freedom. It cannot be worse than any of the others, and might just be a hell of a lot better.

What is a proper job? Banking?

I remember my parents telling me I had to do that when at seventeen, I decided I wanted to go to art school. So I got one. And went to art school in my fifties, and back to university in my sixties when they could no longer argue with me. Good things take time.

Snap..art school late, think it was either my 50's or 60's!

On balance I'm glad it wasn't earlier in life.

Well, it did provide an income I never expected. And validation.

Mind you, succeeding alongside a class of twenty somethings in a post grad course was very empowering too. A student, me. Life experience is just such an advantage!

I have. And managed teams for large multinationals. And run several different homes.

It is a mistake to think a country like this one can be run like a business. A mistake easily made in a capitalist society. But this country is socialist in nature, because its people like it that way. So we will probably always swing between either capitalist or socialist leadership, until we come across that perfect balance of the two.

Something, dare I say it, more Green in tone...

Oh dear. NO country can or should be, run like a business. While some prefer to ignore people in need & rode roughshod over both them & their possible future, most tend to have a good deal more understanding.

I am all for balancing the books. I'd just like them to be a bit more honest about the value of the invisible work done predominantly by women and volunteers, without which most western economies would grind to a very noisy death.
