Interesting article and theory. It also explains how the MAGAs can regard 'woke' attitudes as a negative when empathy, inclusiveness and social conscience, which those anti-woke ideologists are counter to, are essentially backbone philosophies for many mainstream Christian religions.

I think it comes down to being able to somehow hold two opposing views at the same time.
Their religion tells them to help others, & also tells them to kill their enemies.
Humans are weird & we can apparently get ourselves to believe anything at all.

As far as I can see, the cognitive dissonance required to believe in religion despite all the evidence against it impairs critical thinking abilities, making believers more susceptible to other nonsense beliefs, like MAGA-ism
That's why I find it easier - & perhaps healthier - to continue on down the road of being anĀ unrepentant heathen..
