It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Imagine our world in one or two hundred years; if we can avoid destroying ourselves & the planet.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Robots are advancing very fast along with AI, whether or not robots will take over the world remains to be seen but its pretty clear lots of jobs, manufacturing in particular will be replaced by robots for sure.
Tesla has advanced pretty quickly with their robot and there is a few startups that have also popped up that are competing directly with boston dynamics, but competition is good i guess if it speeds up advancement.

Maybe, several centuries from now if we can manage to avoid destroying ourselves & our planet we might just manage to become a species which has robots to do the more difficult & physically demanding work, leaving our species free to expand our creativity & learn how to tone down our aggression, develop empathy & end wars..

Our planet will survive just fine. It has inbuilt control mechanisms that will eventually set new normals in terms of atmospheric makeup and average temperature but humans along with many other lifeforms may well not be able to tolerate the transition process or new parameters.
For example our oceans have been absorbing both CO2 and heat over the past century or so. It is widely believed that it is nearing its limits in being able to do so and is at risk of releasing the carbon and heat it contains with dire consequences for our climate and survivability. This is just one of the 'tipping points' that is nearing, if not already occurring, as Earth's temperatures and atmospheric makeup continue to move away from our long held equilibrium.
Yes exactly; the planet will be fine. Humans, not so much.
We're idiots...

Like the meme says - we want AI that does the dishes and the laundry, so we can do the fun stuff. Not the other way round.
