Simeon Brown committed to removing Iwi from CCC

And has met with opposition thankfully. What arrogance, attempting to decide what any regional council can or can't do when it comes to representation. They said that the current arrangement is working well & surely that's what matters rather than the fact that his nibs & his fellow politicians are anti Maori. Dodgy

Apparently he's 'disappointed' about this & is 'working through options.'  Not keen on taking NO for an answer.

If this govt continues down this road I suspect they're in for one hell of a fight from various councils around the country; I think they've badly underestimated the reaction.

even as a non maori I find all these attempts to undermine Maori representation gains abhorrent...

I guess when the next election rolls around Nats spin doctors will be blaming it all on the coalition partners and seriously start to distance themselves from *those* opinions...
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

I think you're probably right - they'll be blamed for everything. "It wasn't us, it was all their fault! We were led astray."

They just seem to have not the slightest clue about the number of  Pakeha who are appalled at what they're trying to do.

They forget that Enzed is a bad place to be a racist because we've all intermarried so much that you can't tell who has Maori ancestry. And naturally you certainly can't tell who has Maori descendants, as I & many of us have.

I do not like or trust this government. Particularly this person.

That Q&A interview last weekend showed him in his true colours. Ideologically driven and resistant to considering or acting on advice from "the so called experts" as he and his fellow coalition members have taken to calling academics, researchers and those skilled in their respective industries and fields of knowledge.

In other words a know all ignorant little twat with way too much political power.

Congratulations on your restraint....my description would have been far more - colourful, shall I say.
And may - no would certainly have contained swearing. Rolleyes Big Grin Big Grin
