Youtube vs Ublock Origin
#21
You should have waited a few hours and uBlock Origin team would have come up with a fix in an update.

Sometimes clearing your cache helps.

I wouldnt mind the ads, but putting a 20sec ad on a 2 minute YT vid .......
Just a single ad in the beginning I could live with, but some YT vids have too many ads scattered through the vid .

I'll try the duckduck GO browser . I didnt know there was one :-)

FF still running youtube fine for me with zero issues on ublock.
My mobile is a killer for ads though, might switch to firefox for android and see what adblockers I can run.
I see the samsung browser has an adblocker option but have not tried it out yet.

nzoomed, Try this:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/br...ile/focus/

If you have trouble from Google Play then get it from:

Thanks, I will try it out, sick of ads taking up half the screen on my device.

was working on a computer today running chrome 131.0.6778.265 and was running ublock origin.
I just performed an update on it and presumably upgraded from the latest release channel and is now on version 132.0.6834.84 and ublock origin is still working.
Now i have just jumped onto my computer and its running version 131.0.6778.265 and it has automatically blocked ublock origin from running.
Does this sound right? What is going on here?

on one I did you could go into extensions and override the block, for how long who knows.

Now in extensions I see a message
These extensions may soon no longer be supported
Remove or replace them with similar extensions from the Chrome Web Store

Of course there are no suitable replacements for most...

If they enforce this, it will be a huge own goal for Google, I for one will move to Firefox in a heartbeat...
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

Im wondering if Google are randomly enforcing the block on it for a bit, I will check the machine next time im working on it to see if anything has changed.
For now im educating people on the situation and there are some people I see who are still using firefox, could be a big win for mozilla if Google double down on this.
Ive always used firefox as my main browser but use chrome occasionally when some sites dont work properly on firefox.

Dont know if this has been mentioned but Youtube are upping the game on ad blockers.  If you use them expect to have even longer ads or block yourself completely.

Ive already been noticing the ads running longer on youtube while using my smartphone, but still getting zero ads using ublock origin and firefox.

If it gets worse, I will probably end up switching to an adblock DNas, or evem better, installing a pihole.
