Winston Peters has sacked Phil Goff. Because of comments about Trump.

" Asked why not, given Christopher Luxon's position, Peters replied: "Look, this isn't juvenile time, I know he's the Prime Minister, I made him the Prime Minister.""

Luxon being handed his balls on a platter by one of his coalition partners once again.

I think Goff said what most New Zealanders are thinking. He is an honourable man. Sad that this happened as a result of his honesty. No doubt the rest will all bite their tongues and play the game Trumps way in case he punishes them.

Appeasement policy didn't save lives back in the 1930s. Quite the reverse. Which of course is exactly what Goff was saying.

The Churchill - Chamberlain story is essentially true, so he is being sacked for pointing out unpalatable truths, but is in a position where as a public figure he is giving personal judgements which are bringing unwanted attention to NZ and may cost us big time in the political and international arena.
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

And that is exactly why Trump will keep doing what Trump does.

Trudeau is showing the way. Pity our lot don't follow that example instead of playing ostrich.

I don't suppose we could do a swap... Rolleyes

But all this has at the very least, shown that we still have a grand total of two world leaders  with guts.
