you lot seem to think that a wealthy person only got that way because they took it from someone or diddled them out of money....obviously never heard of hard work and focus

Perhaps thats why you have ended up all bitter and twisted

if Only that rich person wasn't rich my life would be better
The problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people’s money

You have no idea of the economic standing of those on this forum and in light of your continual attacks on the Green/Maori/Labour parties, Jacinda Ardern, Greta Thunberg, gender diversity, Treaty issues, beneficiaries, .... accusing others of being "bitter and twisted" seems to be a bit rich.

Actually, the reality is, no one gets rich by sheer hard work  though focus definitely can play a part. What happens with billionaires is the work is in making the seed if at all, or acquiring that seed from generational wealth, good fortune, or exploitation of others. Once the seed starts to germinate it produces the wealth, and if nurtured it reaches a self sustaining point where it cannot stop generating more.

I challenge you heisenberg, master of uncertainty, to name me a billionaire who works as hard as a day labourer, or a cleaner, or a miner  or a nurse or teacher. I also challenge you to explain to me why that billionaire should not pay at exactly the same income tax rate as one of those blessed ordinary folk, if your premise that their income is also derived from hard work and focus is true.

Fact is, billionaires do not pay fair taxes when they are compared to the regime imposed upon the bloke who empties your rubbish bins, or the woman who stands at the checkout at your local supermarket.

The really silly thing though about this state of affairs, is that if that billionaire did pay tax on the income at that rate, they wouldn't even notice it. The community they live in though, most certainly would...

True, they'd barely notice it & it would make some difference.

It also has to be said that they're not all greed crazed b'stards since some recently prevailed on govt to tax wealthy people more. Which naturally, this govt chose to ignore.

However for some people it seems that once they have masses of dosh, they somehow believe that therefore they are better than the rest of us & entitled to things which are far beyond the imaginings (or even wants) of most people.

Wealth is very bad for humans. So is poverty.
And we seriously need to wake up to that & take action to make sure that no one has to endure either.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)
