Trumps New Running Mate, Vice President
#1
The J. D. Vance I Knew

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...um/629814/

Well worth a quick read to see who the left will be up against.

Hope you all will be able to read it and it is not a membership only article.

Quote from the article:

"The anti-populist conservative Vance persona of 2010–17 was well designed to please the individuals and constituencies that held power over his future at that juncture in his career. The angry-white-male persona of 2017–22 was as perfectly aimed at the Thiel-Trump-Tucker nexus as the earlier iteration had been to the Allen-Aspen-Atlantic one.

With a Senate nomination secured, Vance now has new constituencies to please. Ohio today is not the swing state it used to be, yet it’s still home to many non-Trumpy constituencies, including tens of thousands of voters of Ukrainian descent. If elected to the Senate, Vance may rekindle still-higher ambitions, ambitions that cannot be realized by the narrowly based support that got him not quite a third of the vote in last week’s Ohio Republican primary. I very much doubt that the “Vance for President” dream has died—not in him, and not in his backers.

So the question I ponder is not: What happened to the J.D. I knew? It is: Who will J.D. become next?"

Seems like a political prostitute who will bow to the will of the best monied punter. In other words an opportunist.

I don't like to think of people like Thiel owning some of our land. It is a treasure we should not exchange for vast sums of money to unworthies.

But then, that says a lot about my attitudes and biases...

I don't agree with it either; those who want to come here to live are welcome as long as they're not exploiting either the country or the people & they can sod off if that's what they want.

I don't much like his chances of being accepted here,if the worst comes to the worst. Not if he wants to lord it over others anyway.

That is what it sounds like - understandably, we can change our views as we gain experience  & understanding of things, but this just doesn't seem like that.
Whether it is or not,it reeks of political opportunism. Dodgy

You don't see any parallels with what is happening in America and what is happening in NZ?

'To get'? They've had nukes for bloody years you stupid boy. Which he should know seeing they got the tech from the US. As for 'truly Islamist' according to reliable census data, the US has more Muslims than the UK, and Europe has more than both combined. Along with the nukes.

They open their mouths and rubbish comes out.

"Islamist country?!"

How is it that they can be so ignorant? I know that in America wealthy people tend to have access to good education, so you have to wonder just what this plonker was doing, during his years of education..

Our JD Vance has an Indian Hindu wife and three kids with apparently very non-European sounding names so his bigoted opinions seem a bit out of place, and perhaps of surprise to the MAGA crowd.

He seems a somewhat odd person, very changeable which may or may not be a good thing.

The Trump shooting has had repercussions in the music world. Tenacious D has cancelled a tour after comments from Kyle Gass when blowing out candles on a birthday cake, he said "Don't miss Trump next time."

Catching on the bandwagon maybe? Or is he part of a paid package funding Trump?

Too many strange things happening around this man.

Kyle Gass isn't a Trump fan, hence his comment about 'missing.'

Tump's new Vice pres on the other hand gives the impression thart he'll sell himself to the highest bidder...

And now JD Vance is quoting Nixon in claiming "The professors are the enemy". In line behind Chairman Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler, Lenin, et al. This will not end well.

One of the comments to that post seemed very apt: "American politicians don't have opinions. They have owners".

Trump in a nutshell.

Furthermore:

The newly unsealed Jeffrey Epstein documents have Donald Trump's name all over them. He had been secretly disguised as 'Doe 174.'

At least there are still a few able to see him clearly; he's absolutely monstrous.

Surely, no one involved with Jeffrey Epstein should be permitted to be known by any fake name unless they were 100% innocent...

A friend in the US linked me to a couple of youtube clips around JDVance. Seems he is a Thiel protege. Which is a worry, that man being a very very weird character indeed. Despite his great taste in South Island boltholes.

And this one is a beauty, especially if you like creative insults...
