You can never have enough...
Another week gone without any decent rain - temperature has certainly dropped .I have been to a school reunion in a chilly country hall - three years ago we were all complaining about the heat ! The numbers are shrinking rapidly only 1 male left - last reunion there were 4 .Food was fantastic - the school soccer Mums catered as a fundraiser for a school trip - especially enjoyed afternoon tea somebody’s grandma has probably passed the recipe down for the nicest ginger loaf I have had for ages .I won the meat raffle so gave it back to raffle again - then another of my tickets won a $50 PaknSave voucher so that got redrawn as well
Have started another blanket - this one’s for Robie for his batch - background is deep midnight blue - would like to get it finished before Xmas

morning ladies Smile Another lovely start to the day, no rain in sight. The wind has undone all the good the rain did to the garden the other day.

Jan, your photo won't load for some reason Sad

Nothing specifically planned for the day, just the usual stuff, I guess. I'll keep digging the 'ditch' around the main garden to help with trimming the edges. Brasses me off things take so long to do now.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Chilly this morning.

My few pots needed water yesterday even tho Friday was wet all day.

My phone call with the Housing department today.. If I didn't want to make a good impression I would moan about the
11-30 pm text reminder.. lol

But as it was I was awake and still painting oops lol... Might fade a little later in the day.

Nursing a tender but not sore, but ugly looking toe this morning. I picked the grinder up to move it, yes before I put my boots on. Ripped the skin and a black tow, only one drop of blood... Thought Hmmm that's not good for the INR, Then later Madam hooked me, just one claw and I put my foot and the blood ran, got it before it hit the floor tho phew lol.. Oh and of course both legs lol

18 years since my heart surgery today, by day, tomorrow by Date.. So I must do my INR since I wasn't getting soaked to do it on Friday.

Game day today , so maybe Painting tonight. Im doing the Mandala type picture. Was odd to start with soo many colours, but its starting to look pretty.

Have a fab day all

Good morning.

It's sunny,  a bit cooler this morning though.

Lovely weekend with a lot of people swimming ... can't imagine the sea is that warm yet! Enjoyed a bike ride which included the new board walk.

Have met the new neighbours over the fence.  So nice to have friendly people after the previous grump/whinger. Look forward to a proper catch up.

Back to a school drop off/ pick up day. Will get groceries and fill in the day. The school year is winding down.

Enjoy the day all.

Finally dropped the auction price on the 'old' scoot low enough to hook a buyer, which is a relief but also rather sad. She is a good machine and worth more than that - but hey, someone else gets to enjoy freedom. And I get more room to park the big blue beast lol. Fingers crossed it is an easy trade...

Popeye when you apply to housing - use your Māori Aunty - Robies son has checked out all he is entitled to - he has had to prove absolutely nothing -  Robies unknown birth father supposedly had Māori blood - and that’s all he needed -didnt have to prove it - didn’t matter at all his father owns a supermarket and my grandson drives an Audi  .He didn’t follow through with any of it but the grants were all approved - tax payer money not treaty settlement iwi money - none of it has to be paid back and he doesn’t have to show any proof he was at Uni .He has not taken a cent but one thing is for sure my grandchildren will be voting Act - the cousins who aren’t lucky to have a vague bit of Māori blood in their lineage thank goodness see the humour in it idnt have to prove it
Jump the queue Popeye
I should add my grandkids have worked holidays since they were old enough to pay for Uni - grandaughter finished college on Friday and is off to Uni next year - this morning she is one of several Uni students starting work on checkouts- $30 an hours they are all paid with overtime available - she doesn’t need freebies - nothing to stop other Māori kids doing the same - he has vacancies

wow, that blanket will be a challenge, Jan Smile Lovely design.

I think my fitness levels are coming back slowly as I've spent a very happy three hours in the garden weeding, dead heading and tying back the sunflowers and some rose canes.

It is sad when you can't get your asking price, OHH, but better it is sold rather than just sitting there taking up much needed space.

MrK is building a gate between the house and the west side fence. It will block off some westerly winds and his stash of timber and other stuff will be hidden away. I don't use it as a shortcut to the compost bins so no biggie if the wheel barrow can't fit.

The Furry One chased a rabbit into the garden shed and the little blighter still got away lol. One entrance/exit lol. Oh well, he enjoyed the chase and there is always next time.

Hope it all works our well, Hunni & your old scoot goes on to be of use to someone else.

Love the blanket Jan, especially the colurs - they work really well.

Was woken in the wee small hours by Madame Le Dog throwing up, (just a little thankfully) & then had hell's own job trying to get back to sleep because Madame Le Cat decided that the human really should get up now. There was a small disagreement but eventually gave up & fell asleep.
Much later so did I...
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Oh Jan I Love the blanket.. And its sooo perfect these days.. I think my generation had the last of the best childhoods.

I will certainly mention it if things take a while. They would only have to look up Taipari and it would help. They own a fair amount of the reclaimed land under Goldfield Mall in Thames lol.

You might have got a higher price Hunni but at least you know the buyer will get the same amount of freedom it brought to you. Thats worth Millions in my book.

Had 9 pages of info to check through at Winz. The call went well I think, apparently Ill get another call at some stage.

Had a Lovely time with the ladies, David brought in a pudding. I think he said it was African, called a milk pudding. It had a sweet crust and then like a set eggnog, with cinnamon on top. It was nice and light.

And Mark THIS DAY down in History. I yes Me, Myself and I have been invited to the volunteers afternoon tea.. Never thought That would happen. Apparently Dianne got her invite and told them Ive done as much as she has. Either way I never thought that would EVER happen lol.

You know, as we women do we can sometimes talk about the most random of things. Post lunch we were talking about being bunged up or having the runs. There was Dianne telling us how Mum used to use a bougee to get them working, Just as the Manager walked a woman and her daughter through.. The Look on Margarets face was priceless.. And Dianne was doing a demo... I Looked at the ladies and said sorry BADDD timing lol. Margaret looked like she would have a conniption lol... oops Ohh we laughed lol

But it was a Good Day

morning ladies Smile Not a cloud in the sky this morning, it's going to be a beautiful day. Perfect for the hikoi to reach Parliament. Today will be one for the history books.

lol popeye, frame that invite! You never know, they might be mellowing Tongue

Grocery shopping for me today and more thread from Spotlight. My embroidery has been put in the naughty corner until I can figure out where I'm going wrong with it. In the meantime, I've started another piece, just winging it for now.

I saw on FB last evening a truck had lost its trailer at the new roundabout yesterday. Luckily no one was hurt. And a big barrel of honey fell off a truck on the Kaimai Ranges that needed cleaning up. So, a busy day for emergency services on our road.

Time to get cracking, the Furry One is already checking out the rabbits. The close call he had yesterday has certainly inspired him to keep trying.

Happy crafting Smile

Yup, all silver at 6am with the Moon still up, but it is burning off now and showing blue. I love that golden morning light that promises a sunny day. I played on the deck yesterday, potting up colour for the summer days ahead and checking on the potted pond. The two minnows appear happy and healthy and the plants are waking up in the tea coloured water. Not a mozzie baby in sight, I doubt one would last long with those two hungry predators circling like tiny sharks! So I will keep feeding them just in case nature doesn't provide. No algae yet either, but no doubt it will come, despite the tannins.

A good day ahead, scooting is on the cards, a slow meander along the coast, beaches and old villas with their gardens finishing up with my usual cake and coffee with friends. Then home to celebrate the hikoi...

Morning everyone

Another cooler start. but its beautiful out there.

Ill put it in my painting folder Kiwimade lol.. Its scary really lol.

A Million dollars for a new Christmas tree in Auckland..?? Ridiculous..

I might go wander through the oppy today. I want a clip on light for painting, and I haven't been there for ages. Also looking for a red cardy for Mum. Dianne got a nice jumper but would have to cut through the front, and we think it may run. Ive suggested getting iron on hemming tape before cutting, but not sure if you could iron it.

Front lawn later hopefully.

Have a fab day all

Unless you can find someone who knows how to steek a knitted piece popeye, I think hemming tape would be a very temporary solution, probably not worth the effort...

Steek ... a new knitting word for me OHH, thank you, but what a logical solution to create an opening.  There are some good Google tutorials as well I see  Smile

An old term I believe. My lovely late friend Ali taught me that one. Master weaver, master knitter, master friend, and really, really missed.

Will investigate Hunni.

Its a pretty v neck jumper with holes down the full length of the sleeves with dainty gold buttons.

Dianne has an overlocker, and can sew but not at all confident either. Mind you I wouldnt be either with this one.

I will be checking the cardys out at the oppy for her.

will now have a look at steeking

Oh My Goodness.. that is soo cool.

The jumper is a commercially made one, and very fine..

We will find another red cardy lol

Didn't find a red cardy, they had heaps of stuff in there tho. No wonder they have stopped all donations until next year. Its not safe for a lot of older people to be walking around in a very full building, or good for their mental health either.

Someone donated quite a few diamond painting kits. I got two.. A chucky one that Ill give to a friend and another one with a message on and butterflies. Might do that one for Annie she loves butterflies.

Been a beautiful day today.
